Something missing at FF

I've been reading a lot of stuff online about how great this FF, given the schools, the coaches, players, etc. All time greats. 3 1 seeds. An undefeated team that just happens to be Kentucky. And yet, it seems like something is missing.

Does anyone remember that school that use to make the FF regularly? They would be a 1 seed often. You would think that a FF this incredible would surely have this blue blood. Their arch-nemesis currently owns them. They routinely lose double digit games. They have, however, been to the NIT Final more recently than a FF. So they have that.

I remember what 2005-09 felt like while they owned us and were going to Final Four's. So while I enjoy them going through their dry spurt right now I know these sorts of things have a way of working themselves out. Plus, next year there's a chance the tables are reversed. And let's not kid ourselves, we just snapped what was our second-longest dry spell from the Final Four under K with our win yesterday. What I'm saying is that I find more satisfaction in our success than them being down.

I completely agree DJ. The one thing our own dry spell from 05-09 taught us was that you can't take any of these for granted. I'm as giddy as i was in 2010. I can't wait to get out to Indy to support our guys! While it's fun to know UNC isn't playing this weekend, i'm much much much more concerned and delighted when we play well and have success than i am in what UNC is doing.

And for next year, they'll be a top 5 pre-season team with final four expectations on them no doubt. They'll have their entire team coming back, they'll be in the final 4 next year.

I prefer when they coincide with each other like in 2010. That is just icing.
I understand clearly where DJ & Timo are coming from. This thing runs in cycles, and I expect UNC to be really, really good next year (but I'm not conceding a FF just yet). And I also enjoy Duke's success more than UNC's misfortunes...but the 2 quite often go hand in hand, and so I agree with GTHC. I'm enjoying the hell out of this. It's not like the Tar Heel faithful will have any mercy on us when it's their turn to ride high in the saddle. I've lived in NC almost all of my 62+ years, and believe me they will be on us like stink on crap when they ever so slightly get an edge. Until then...I'm going to ride high and tall.

I just wanna have Coach K forever, which is not going to happen. Not seeing him on the Duke bench is going to be surreal and a bit scary probably. He's been the face of Duke my entire life.

Hearing him speak Post Game was almost poetry. Easy to understand why DUKE players always buy into the system.

That ridiculous stat alone makes me appreciate Coach K all that much more.

As to UNC, I always viewed it as cyclical as well, but, with their looming NCAA punishment their recruiting may take a big hit. They'll be back to where they once were, but it may be a lot longer than it usually takes.

It almost makes perfect sense for UNC to rebound right about the time Coach K is stepping down. Quite the recruiting tool there
