SIAP: Pat Yourselves on the Back

Duke is a national program that isn't deeply rooted with a place. Yes, it's in Durham and in North Carolina but most people across the country do not strongly associate Duke University with those places, it's just Duke University. All these other big time programs are largely defined by the location that is in the name of their university, people outside of those places are not going to be fans of those programs without some kind of tie to that place. Duke probably has far more fans who didn't grow up rooting for their local or state team and therefore adopted Duke as their favorite team as oppossed to adopting a program in which they also would have to adopt that programs state or city.

I'm not sure about this study. The must have skipped the state of North Carolina because as Gomer Pyle would say "there's about a gazillion of them here." There are more UNC fans than there are Duke , NCSU, W.F. and ECU fans combined or at least are on the band wagon. Duke Sky 85 lives in Utah, has lived in Idaho amd Mass. and they are all over the place in those states also. Just like starlings they're everywhere . This study is not accurate. OFC.

Sky I think the article just says we have the best fans, not the most. I know UNC and UK has a gazillion more than we do. I bet there are millions of UNC fans just in my town of a couple hundred thousand.

Now if the article was about the worlds most clueless fans then UNC would easily win.
