Shameless

BTW , just for some context here , local law enforcement sweeping the dirt from unx athletes under the rug isn't a new phenomenon. Recently , we saw that in the case of PJ Hairston. Driving in a rental car supplied by a convicted felon and stopped with cash , drugs and a gun and what happened? He walks away...keeps playin' ball. unx lawyers swooped in an' straight handled that. Happened before...

Need to be real careful on how we take a stand on this. All the facts, proof and evidence need to come in before any of us make a judgement and then let justice play out. If the accused is proven guilty may justice be done. If he is innocent and the evidence proves him innocent may the accuser pay the price of justice. Right now it's word against word and we may never know the truth. Let us as a fan base not take the road the unc family did when our LX team was accused of rape. We saw the damage done when false accusations were made and a unjust and dirty D.A. did everything he could to prosecute those he knew were innocent. OFC

Agreed. 100%. No one knows exactly what happened. At this point , the info coming out appears bad for Artis , the cops , Woodall and unx but , as we all know , appearances can be deceiving. I'm just sharing what's already out there. I'm making no assumptions one way or the other as to "guilt.". That said...

Robinson’s attorney was allegedly told by Assistant District Attorney Jeff Nieman that “unconsciousness is rape, blackout drunk is not rape.”

UNC explains suspension of Allen Artis following sexual assault charges

North Carolina football player Allen Artis has been suspended from the team indefinitely after warrants were taken out against him by a university coed in connection with an alleged sexual assault at UNC’s athletic dormitory.

“We are aware of the misdemeanor charges against Allen Artis,” Fedora said in a statement. “I can not comment on either the allegation or the investigative process. We take these matters very seriously and are fully cooperating with the appropriate authorities.”

http://www.nsjonline.com/article/2016/09/artis-suspended-unc-tar-heels-sexual-assault-charges

Said it previously. Fedora can be every bit the scumbag Roy can. Sure , trashing some lockers at Duke is incredibly minor compared to what possibly happened here but he had the same "Eff you!" attitude back then. "Misdemeanor charges." He's known about this stuff for awhile now and that phrase illustrates with crystal-clear clarity exactly how he feels about the girl and these charges. Scumbag. #carolinaway

Putting this here because the NCAA is pretty shameless themselves. Geez Louise. They won't sanction a habitual offender like unx NOW...and that's for violations that are actually WITHIN his employer's purview. What's he want? Gonna shield unx from prosecution in CRIMINAL cases too...?

Great audio too. About 2:30 in he starts on unx. Details the fraud the cheating etc. Serious subject but that stuff is awesome. Holes everywhere are having their heads explode. Hilarious....

Legal Expert: Idiots Running These Investigations

“The questions were totally irrelevant,” legal expert Amy Dardashtian said on CBS Sports Radio’s Ferrall on the Bench. “But what’s so shocking about this and what sets this case apart is really the evidence.

“So she reports it in a timely matter, and to your point, the department of public safety starts questioning her,” Dardashtian continued...totally inappropriate questions. There’s no purpose for these questions. Even if she answered yes to all of them, it wouldn’t justify rape.

“It was actually recorded,” Dardashtian said. “Those are the type of idiots running these investigations.

DK's back. Multi-part series too...

Dan Kane ‏@dankanenando

UNC lawyers missed a big clue to UNC's fake classes. Day 1 of our series on the unraveling of the #UNCscandal.

Dan Kane ‏@dankanenando

That bogus class full of FB players? UNC discovered it in Aug. 2011 and told the NCAA. And the NCAA let them play.

Dan Kane ‏@dankanenando

NCAA's FB probe at UNC in 2010 took a year & led to penalties. Spent 34 days on bogus classes -- and walked away.

Mark Emmert is so in the pockets of UNC RC members its pitiful...Ol Roy was a pompous, arrogant and scoffing bag of wind at the FF this year defying media questions about the scandal and possible sanctions...

He knew IMO at that point the "watered down" revised NOA was coming and the holes were in the clear. Heck, Emmert was up for the Chancellor job at UNC before he took the NCAA post.As long as 3 individuals hold down certain power jobs UNC has a free ride:
Emmert/NCAA czar
Swoffy (hole grad and AD)/ACC commish
John Skipper(unc grad)/E$PN pres

Is it possible to replace NCAA with some other governing body that will actually do their job? Maybe it is time to start looking into that possibility. If this were ECU, ASU, or any other smaller school, they would be on probation forever. I see a lot of dissatisfaction with the way the NCAA handles problems , by who's who,on other sites, but, maybe there is nothing that can be done.

Always amusing when B-Rad gets worked up. Lol...

LMAO at B-Rad lecturing ANYONE on "integrity." One more. Rarely does DK intentionally provoke the tarhole nation...until now. Funny stuff...

As revelations mounted on UNC’s bogus classes, leaders’ tension grew

Tasty little anecdote at the beginning. Alston Gardner. Typical tarhole azzwipe. God forbid someone wanna actually find out what was goin' on....

Alston Gardner fits the profile of a university trustee: a wealthy alum who gives to the university, its athletic department and to election campaigns. A 1977 UNC graduate and Durham native, Gardner, 60, made a fortune creating a successful consulting company and later founded a venture capital firm, both in Atlanta.

Gardner was satisfied when former Gov. Jim Martin told the UNC trustees in December 2012 that the “phantom” classes in the university’s African studies department stretched back at least as far as 1997 but were not built around helping athletes.

Less than two months later, Martin’s report was under fire from Burley Mitchell, a former state Supreme Court chief justice who sat on the UNC Board of Governors, which oversees all 17 campuses.

Mitchell had learned that Martin had backed away from one of his report’s important findings: that athletic officials had raised questions about the classes in 2002 and 2006 to the faculty committee that oversees athletics. But committee minutes did not reflect those concerns and several faculty members didn’t recall a discussion. It turned out Martin hadn’t interviewed them. Mitchell said Martin’s data – pegging athlete enrollments in the classes at 45 percent – suggested knowledge of the bogus classes beyond African studies department chairman Julius Nyang’oro and his assistant, Deborah Crowder.

Mitchell told The News & Observer that the NCAA should return to investigate. “Hell, yes,” he said.

The story with Mitchell’s comments was emailed to Gardner.

“What an ---hole,” Gardner emailed in response.

Simply amazing that this all went away SOMEHOW....

At first I looked at this latest info as pretty much what unx'ers like to call it...a "re-hash." Look closer. This won't spur the NCAA into action but Kane is outing even more of those involved than before. We're getting an even clearer picture of exactly WHO acted in concert to shield unx athletics. It's as insidious as it is depressing. They are insulated by NC govt and law enforcement. Woodall? Hole. Cooper? Hole. The NC BOG's? Holes. The only thing B-Rad has whined about that is even close to being factual is the scapegoating of middle-to-lower management types. The "real" players in the Ram's Club are still runnin' things. Baddour , Thorpe et al leave but are taken care of with zero blame attached. Dept heads sympathetic to athletics are still there. Whistleblowers are threatened. IOW , all things being equal the simplest answer tends to be the right one. It's an open-n-shut LOIC case...the likes of which is unprecedented. They paid millions in hush money , golden parachutes , legal fees and PR. And they did it with the complicity of the NCAA. Pretty easy to skate when the judge and jury doesn't WANT to sanction ya anyway. That said , it IS enjoyable watching 'em get continuously dragged thru the mud locally AND nationally. It bugs 'em. They wanted absolution. Instead they're soiled forever. Hang a banner...

A prosecutor’s choice leads to origins of UNC’s bogus classes

http://www.newsobserver.com/news/special-reports/carolinas-blind-side/article102701612.html

Not that the NCAA will be inspired to do what they shoulda done a long time ago , but this series is much more than a re-hash. The insulation that unx enjoys really DOES reach into the NCAA and the highest offices of NC state government. And no one there...I mean NO ONE!...ever wanted this looked into much less cleaned up. And if someone dared to blow the whistle? Well , we've seen how they're treated by the flagship and the tarhole nation.

Great interview with Kane. Sterling makes an apt comment..."It's all very lawyer-ly but has nuthin' to do with the truth..."

B-Rad still whining. Lulz...

This one's even funnier...in a sad , pathetic sorta way. lol. Moves on from Kane to another ACTUAL "expert" in the field , David Ridpath. B-Rad yearns for exposure but won't take the opportunity when afforded. Keep in mind...this is Mr. Documentary , a former "learning specialist" turned shoe salesman and here he is acting like a punk-azz kid on a playground. I'm not makin' this stuff up. It's real....

Bradley Bethel ‏@BradleyBethel

Let me know when you're ready to come to NC and engage in a live debate about this, David.

B. David Ridpath ‏@drridpath

@BradleyBethel You are welcome to come up here but as I said before I will have a team of folks.

Bradley Bethel @BradleyBethel

@B. David Ridpath What astounding cowardice. "Scholar" gets challenged to a debate, but he agrees only if he can bring his posse. That's not how debates work.

B. David Ridpath ‏@drridpath

@BradleyBethel @math4humans no just several debates for you. You said anytime anywhere. I offered this before and expected you to decline.

Bradley Bethel ‏@BradleyBethel

@drridpath Keep pretending that's reasonable, Ridpath. I'm not debating multiple people. You're hiding your fear of debating one-on-one

David Ridpath ‏@drridpath

@BradleyBethel why not? Like I said let's have a series of debates. Been saying that for a long time. Your choice.

Bradley Bethel ‏@BradleyBethel

@drridpath My interest is in nature of UNC scandal. One debate. We probably agree on other, related topics (e.g., NCAA reform). Your choice.

B. David Ridpath ‏@drridpath

@BradleyBethel agree that we agree. Always has been UNC case. I have always said multiple debates with many knowledgable folks. Your choice

Bradley Bethel ‏@BradleyBethel

@drridpath You have "always said" multiple debates because you know it's unreasonable for me and you're afraid to engage in a single debate.

B. David Ridpath ‏@drridpath

@BradleyBethel its not unreasonable at all. Could even be done virtually. Even Trump is doing multiple debates.

Bradley Bethel ‏@BradleyBethel

@drridpath Have a great week, Ridpath. I can only take so much of your simple mind.

B. David Ridpath ‏@drridpath

@BradleyBethel you always leave. Debates offer stands. You said anyone and I give you anyone. You exposed yourself. You know where to find me. Shoot me an email since you will probably block me again.

If this had gone on much longer , B-Rad woulda called Ridpath a "fraidy cat" and started talkin' about his mama. lollers

UNC faculty, students and staff: where is the outrage?

The latest news out of Chapel Hill is no surprise for those of us who have worked in athletics at UNC. The Department of Public Safety (DPS) has shown favoritism to a football player once again. Public Safety is complicit with the athletic department in any number of ways. Apparently our DA, who declined to pursue charges against the athlete, is also complicit. No real shocker after the academic fraud case charges against those who designed the athlete eligibility scheme were dropped. He even seems to have absorbed the arrogance of UNC, as shown by his statement yesterday that the plaintiff’s attorney was not familiar with NC law. Would he have said that about a male attorney? Is this not another symptom of the culture that led to the rape to begin with?

My own personal experience, having worked with athletes between 2003 and 2011, was that athletes received special privileges. Every semester we would ask DPS staff to remove the parking ticket holds from athletes’ records so that we could register the athletes for class. This was done as a courtesy and often in exchange for athletic gear or tickets. During my time at Carolina, our athletes had many encounters with DPS which clearly demonstrated the get out of jail free mentality protecting athletes.

Discipline, in the way of dismissals, suspensions, and forced retirement, appears always to be the result of news media exposure.

Wiley...?

A now famous tutor was involved in a fist fight with a football player’s girlfriend in a dorm room and DPS was called. No further action was taken.

It was my understanding that the DPS officers were working (moonlighting) for the athletic department. If so, isn’t that a conflict of interest?

President Spellings, when will you come to terms with the fact that the current administration at UNC-CH continues to operate under a culture of lying, covering up, cheating and denial?

Athletics is still in charge of the institution.

The coaches receiving three-year deals through 2018-19: Joe Breschi (men’s lacrosse), Anson Dorrance (women’s soccer), Sam Paul (men’s tennis), Karen Shelton (field hockey) and Carlos Somoano (men’s soccer). Hatchell's deal is through 2019-20, and women's lacrosse head coach Jenny Levy earned a one-year extension through 2018-19.

Frank Williams: Classless UNC

Regarding the Carolina’s Blind Side series: Thanks to Dan Kane for his diligence in covering the athletic scandal and academic fraud perpetuated by UNC-CH over the past two decades. State taxpayers deserve to know what’s going on at their flagship university.

Kane mentioned UNC-CH’s lawyered-up response to the NCAA’s Notice of Allegations: “The NCAA has no jurisdiction, because it has no say over the content and rigor of classes.” This is infuriating and an insult to the intelligence of the people UNC-CH claims to serve. It’s a distraction, sleight of hand ... a lie.

The issue is not the “content and rigor of classes.” This isn’t about “easy classes.” There were no classes! That’s the issue.

Before anyone can ever discuss any “content” or “rigor,” there must first be a class.

UNC-CH’s crime is that there were no syllabi, no instructors, no classrooms, no classes. At most the “student” turned in a “paper” often written by a tutor, often plagiarized, to a secretary who filed it without looking at it and assigned a grade. Eligibility maintained. Ask Rashad McCants: Dean’s List! Never went to class nor did any work. Just played ball and won championships. The Carolina Way.
