I was hoping someone might be able to answer this for me.
Generally, in other sports, players will receive some sort of stipend downplaying foe their national team. I know that it happens in soccer. I assume it happens in basketball.
So I guess I really have 3 questions. First, do national team players receive a called up? Second, do the youth team players receive a stipend? Third, if the youth players receive a stipend, what is the impact on eligibility since they are technically getting paid to play?
I assume a way around any issue would be deferring payment or setting up a trust of some sort, but I thought I'd ask those with more knowledge of such things.
