Official game day thread- Duke vs AZ sweet 16

Bama was out of body yesterday from behind the arc, but I guess Duke shot it pretty well too! :) Still, I didn't understand why BYU wasn't guarding the 3 better when they shot 50 of them at over a 50% clip. Don't you take the 3 away in that case and make them go inside? Mix it up and play a zone or something? They hit some deep ones, but many were wide open looks from the line.

I like our chances Saturday, I just think we have Cooper AND too many other guys who can light it up on any given night. But if Bama continues that crazy hot shooting, it's gonna be a dog fight. Sears looked dominant last night, but he's also had some recent games where he struggled.
Coming into the Bama game, BYU was 342nd in the country out of 364 teams in three-point defense.
Duke is not 342nd in the country...

I am not an X's and O's guy, but even I could see how horrible BYU was on defense. Their switching was terrible and they were slow to react leaving wide open 3 after wide open 3 for a team that was shooting 50%+. I guess there was a reason the over/under was 180 points!!!

Don't worry Alabama's record setting 20 plus threes were all lucky bounces. They won't be that hot again but they can shoot. And they are better than Arizona. That said I think we win a close one.

Arizona and Duke are now 6-6 all-time vs each other. Thats been quite a powerful series to be only 12 meetings when you factor in the significance of many of the games. One being the 2001 National Championship (D-W) Two other NCAA Tournament Sweet 16’s in 2011 (A-W), 2025 (D-W) a Pre-Season NIT Championship in 2013,(A-W) the Maui Invitational Championship in 1997, (D-W) memorable games.

That double OT loss out there in 1991 really stung, that was a mid-season OOC game. They were highly ranked. Duke had that game won twice! They fumbled two inbounds plays which were huge. I remember Laettner walking off the court pissed because he knew they had that one. Duke would be National Champions 38 days later.
