Official game day thread- Duke va Kansas

I disagree here. As @DukeDallas9192011015 said, we don't have a true point guard. Roach has been in. plenty of situations like our last couple losses and he's made shots to win us the game. He'd be our only guard who can actually break down a defense with his driving to the basket. Even if he misses, he'll draw a couple defenders and give the weak side an opportunity for a rebound/put back.
I think that Roach would have at least provided us a couple of timely 3's against Kansas and Kentucky. That would have definitely helped when we desperately needed a basket. I think that both Cooper and Kon will be fine, but it would be great to have a kick out or two where someone can hit a 3.

I like that a lot better than not even getting off a shot during the last two minutes.

Last night just never seemed like a game we were going to win. We played from behind, and I never feel confident unless we are raining threes. But beat Illinois and auburm and we are good, but we probably split those as we are now.

Roach drove me nuts at times but he could penetrate and hit big shots.
Roach left because he wanted to be a pg . He didn’t want to be off ball. He spoke so highly about how he was able to get back to being a pg at Baylor. He’s basically off the ball at Baylor now . You have Proctor and Foster . If Roach truly wanted to stay at Duke he could have but chose to leave end of discussion no one forced him out he simply did not want to stay at Duke and play off the ball.

The problem with playing Proctor at PG is he is BY FAR our best off-the-ball shooter. I believe he is now over 60% on catch and shoot three's. I don't have the answer, but I feel it needs to be some combo of the 3. It's safe to say we don't have a true PG, but with 3 solid guards combined with Flagg and Kon, turnovers and getting into an offense shouldn't be the problem IMO.
Proctor and Foster are both combo guards and can play both positions . I think the entire reason for playing foster now is to build up his confidence on his repaired ankle

Maybe you are right. However, if we are playing guys to "build up their confidence" against Kentucky and Kansas than I completely disagree with that philosophy. How come Evans isn't getting his confidence built up?

You play to win the game at all costs, these games are very important for seeding, especially with the lack of good teams in the ACC. Play to win, you can experiment with lineups and confidence building against Wofford and Seattle.

I have plans Friday. The game is 2 hours south of me. If I did go I would wear my "play Evans coach" shirt. Honestly I'm too lazy to sit in 5 hours of holiday traffic.

Some people on the other board suggesting we are going to run the table. Negativity can be bad but I swear sunshine pumping is no better. Neither is objective. I just go by what I see.
I've been known to pump sunshine occasionally, but I think it is even irrational to envision this group finishing 29-2. I think we will be a 24-7 to 25-6 team going into the ACC tourney.

Because Evan’s isn’t a true pg . Foster originally was until his senior year he had to play the sg. They are building his confidence to let him believe his ankle will hold up . Hoping it doesn’t end with him breaking his confidence while playing his best ball missing his last nine games of freshman year with an ankle injury . Evan’s isn’t going to start and is either coming in for Kon or Proctor to get his minutes period .

Then this bored is guilty in the same. A lot had Duke at the final four with not seeing a game and a one seed now five games in that’s completely changed by the same posters . This team was never going undefeated and this early in the season is the best reality check that you can both be beat and let yourself get beat .
Don’t believe Kansas is the out right number one team even with Hunter on the court. They are good but aren’t going undefeated either .

I think Auburn is going to be a problem but at least Duke is playing at home.
Each game is a learning experience for March . You now have two games in which you can look at Flag and show him how he’s made the same mistake by spinning. You now have a game to where you tell Kon to shoot and get the foul and not attempt to pass when there is no outlet . It’s all about learning now . It’s five games in and we are literally breaking down a team that has never played together. God forbid if there was an entire season a head of them to play . Y’all act like the NCAA tourney starts Friday after thanksgiving. Isn’t it in March ?

Ima just keep it 100. Cooper …I’ve seen better at Duke . To be this godly generational type player, I’ve yet to see it. I see flashes of a “great” player, but nothing generational. The dude has now choked twice in the clutch , and in my opinion the WHOlLE reason we were even in that spot from his poor play. I also blame John, the team wasn’t prepared for how they played us, and looked lost. Based off talent alone, and Kansas missing open shots, missed dunks , etc, we still almost squeaked out a W. So much to be desired, but irs early. We will be fine.
