He is supposed to be making his decision tomorrow at 3 on the NBA Today show on ESPN. There hasn’t been any crystal ball picks yet that I have seen. Let’s hope he joins the Brotherhood to join up with the amazing class already.

Whatever he chooses I think we'll be fine regardless. I remember seeing an interview where he said he liked Duke because we play defense and he knows his defense needed Improvement. Think Jon figured out a blueprint of what he wants from this year's success... Length, defense, toughness and muscle. Nate is rail thin and would get bullied. Kon being a couple inches shorter would bully him. Don't get me wrong, I still would love to have him and if we won't, I trust Jon to get someone that will work out just as good.

And agree with @dukecorey , Evans coming back would be huge

Hard to get excited about a recruiting announcement when we are playing in the Final 4 on Saturday. I think the pick is Louisville but regardless, this could be a blessing in disguise. Go back to this time a year ago when we missed out/got outbid for VJ Edgecombe and Flory Bidunga (both top 5/top 10 guys). Well, this allowed us to bring in Sion and Maliq.

I trust the staff has a plan, and I don't see how Ament can ever be a real contributor on an elite defensive team. Plus if he does choose elsewhere, hopefully this signals an Evans return.

Did he think we were going to get knocked out before April 1st?? How dare he! Lol. In all seriousness, does seem like it's up to Evans. No other reason for him to wait until after the tourney and our players make decisions.

Prediction:
Ament will be the first college basketball player to skip the post season in order to "prepare for the draft," just like some of the idiot football players.

I don’t think Ament is anything like Jalen Johnson. I think it is smart by him to see what the rosters look like before he commits. I think that helps Duke out this way he can see who is still on the team for next year. If he didn’t wait I feel he would’ve already committed to Louisville. He is probably waiting to see what Evans does first. We should have that answer pretty soon. I would rather have a year 2 Evans but if he opts for the draft/portal I would take Ament in a heartbeat.

I wouldn't let Ament walk my dog. He would change his mind halfway around the block.

Why you say that Will? Something happen with his recruitment? Just curious

I'm just totally fed up with college basketball. In fact, I'll be composing my "Farewell to Devis Illustrated" missive in the next couple of days, when I get a chance. Read it if you wish.

I’m at the point to where it really isn’t college basketball but an amateur sport . It is truly out of hand . I mean when a kid can transfer back and forth between two schools four times you know it’s ridiculous.
I feel like Ament is playing the bidding war game . Who ever he chooses your getting him for six months then he’s off to the league . At some point someone has got to get control of this entire process .

I didn’t know about a bidding war. I did see Travis Branham said he feels it’s between Duke and Tennessee now, with Duke in the slight lead for Ament. He also said Louisville is now fourth behind Kentucky also. Found that interesting.

I just wish college and the NBA agreed to just allow kids to go straight to the League out of high-school. No age restrictions, no one year out rule or anything... Go straight to the NBA or have to stay 2 years guaranteed. "YOU MAKE YOUR OWN CHOICE"...

ALSO, I'D love to see more high 4 Stars. I'd also have a "If you aren't going to stay 2 years, don't even commit approach". I know that isn't ideal or very practical but dang who wants to waste a year developing a player just to see them leave right after a year(Transfer portal)...

Or even go with a MLB approach. You draft the rights to a kid, and you get then in a year. But they stay in college... Very few make roster spots and very few are impact players right away. The ones who are going to make an impact, they know who they are. (PAOLO, ZION, RJ, KAT, ANT EDWARDS, CADE CUNNINGHAM)

I know nothing about any of the kids coming in. The only thing I do know is you NEVER just take the talent and try to figure it out.

They have to fit.
I feel like that’s exactly what Jon and K have both looked for when assembling their teams. Jon has the blueprint, its going to be interesting watching him construct the upcoming roster.

I think this is obviously one of many of Jon's strong suits. He will have a plan. Also, he's one helluva competitor(I have read how hard he still plays in Cameron pick-up games). He will have us ready, and probably wishes the new season started next week.

I think there is a reason why Jon is still recruiting Ament, he must feel comfortable that he fits with the team and style. It seemed that he got along with the Boozer twins at the McDonald’s game and seemed to have good chemistry while on the court. If there was an issue don’t think Duke would still be involved. Could be a backup plan for Evans or possibly Proctor if Evans could slide to the 2 next year.

Maybe but the other final four teams had more returning guys. Its not the only way. And for every Cooper there is a Mal, inconsistent but gone anyway.

ZERO 5 star players in the final last night ( most are gone by Jr year)....and several were undiscovered gems ( walter clayton)...i think we have to look beyond the ranking system and do a better job of finding the dogs who bring attitude and a chip on their shoulder to the game and who have experience in CBB. The will to win is greater than any 5 * ranking
