Mark Williams

Williams and Kessler kind of took the same route and probably are two of the most promising bigs in the land. I understand why Kessler couldn't get a lot of time to start off with their stable of bigs but not playing Williams more in the beginning seems mind boggling. I also think UNC is a better team with Brooks on the bench.

Guys, mark couldn’t even catch the ball At the start of the season. He was clumsy and Casey Sanders 2.0. He had trouble fouling, catching, reading the floor, etc. All you need to do is go back and watch the first half of the year.

He had not deserved or earned those minutes yet, no matter what da chump will tell you as he’s patting himself on the back for his arm chair coaching.

1. He put in the damn work during the year to get better.
2. Nate worked with him tirelessly to help him improve.
3. It’s a disservice to both of them to act like he was this stalwart to start the year and was just being benched by mean old K. Give them credit for the hard work they put in. You know who credits the hard work they put in? - MARK WILLIAMS.

Spot on man. I think we see him put in even more work this summer and he will be a beast down low for us next year.

He’s still very raw. I hope to hell he comes back, but what he showed the last Few weeks of the season, i wouldn’t blame him for testing the waters.

Lots of post-season 20:20 hindsight going on

Williams was arguably better than Carey by the end of the season. Hot take I know. I've never seen anyone who seemed to improve every single game. He'll be like a cheat code next year if he returns.

Williams is the kind of kid who get probably get drafted in the second round this year or come back and move up into the first next year and make himself a tin of money by coming back. Someone like Hurt isn’t going to improve his draft stock by coming back unless he becomes an elite defender over the summer.

Banchero coming and Williams returning will probably cause Hurt to move on. And we'd be loaded with those two. Latest mock draft did not have Williams in the first round. Johnson at 6. I just don't get it, but I'm not a scout.

Where would Bacot go? Still has 2 years, right? In any event, he is one ugly mother.
Bacot is playing really well over the last three weeks. He desperately needs a mentor. He'll never play in the NBA, but he can earn a small fortune if he commits to a healthy lifestyle. He needs a decent hairstyle and to avoid any more neck tattoos

If mark can improve his free throws, man he is gonna be big trouble for other teams.

Im pretty sure he thought about leaving last year, so i figured it was once again on the table. That he is.
I assume that he will consider going pro since he was a McDonald's All American and played at IMG. I was surprised last year that he announced his return in the locker room after the. ACC tournament loss to Syracuse

My family had plenty of money and valued education. If my two options were playing for free and playing for millions of dollars, my dad would not allow me in the house if I I selected college. ( Mom would hand me a sandwich on the back porch) I hope that he returns, but will not hold my breath.

I think it was Dunleavy Sr. who said "yeah but he wants his own money." :) it could have been Charles Barkley. It was a long time ago.

To me, Dunleavy's situation was the opposite of Mark this year. Dunleavy was rated higher than he should have been because his weaknesses were hidden by a fantastic roster 2 years in a row. At the very least, he had very little room to improve his stock.
If he stayed, he faced 3 big risks. One, not being able to carry a team that lacked the talent and experience of the previous team. Two, being outperformed as a senior by a couple of freshmen-Reddick, Williams, and Randolph. And 3, injury.
Mark, on the other hand has a great opportunity to vastly improve his draft stock, if for no other reason he is projected to go so much lower. The improvement of Roach and the addition of Paolo and Griffin could very reasonably make Mark impossible to scheme for. Next year's team should be better in every facet of the game. This should only wind up helping Mark and his draft stock.

I think Williams returns. There is a big price gap between, lottery, first round and second round. He easily goes mid first round if he comes back and adds muscle and refined parts of his game.

Williams with the new players and the guys we have returning along with another year to get stronger - hit those weights young man! - and work on his footwork down low ... he could be a big force defensively and even on the offensive side with open looks.

His draft stock will rise. It’s smart to stay and smart to develop.

And let’s face it, the NBA - even if he makes it he won’t be a star or starter for a bit - is a lonely place for a 19-20 year old. Especially struggling to get PT. Game is so much more physical.

But another year of growth. Develop more friendships. Get stronger. More mature. Better draft stock next year which means more income - just makes sense to stay.

And he will have a LOT more fun playing with Banchero, Griffin, Keels, and a - hopefully - more consistent Roach at PG.

Man, Williams looked to me like he could be a super star in the making. I am Very high on the kid. The casual fan may not know him but at next season’s end, he could be a household name and a top 5 pick. Did I go too far? Lol good.

If he stays healthy and this team gels, he could have a monster year even if he is the 3rd or 4th option on offense.

I know this is pure speculation, but I don't like the trajectory of this. I've heard nothing to suggest he's leaving. In fact, Paolo has stated on several occasions that he is excited at the prospect of playing with Mark down low next year. So all of this seems out of left field for me. But, who knows? Guys that should stay leave all the time now.

Hopefully just rumors. This combined with the transfer from Marquette does make me wonder. Still I think he comes back; but after Steward nothing would surprise me.
