Focus on Shot Quality, Not the Clock

I hope we will not make the same mistake that just costed the Irish mightily.

Again and again, Grant ran the clock down so much that the only thing left was a low quality one-on-one move. Augustine never even touched the ball once they got into the stall mode. Unless you have a Michael Jordan on your team, the first priority should always be on getting a high quality shot off, whatever the shot clock implication.

The only time it makes sense to run down the clock to less than 10 seconds, sans a Michael Jordan, is when your lead is so large that you can win without scoring again for the rest of the game, because you literally may not with the crappy possessions you get doing the sub 10-second stall.

I think Notre Dame was tired. I didn't have a problem with running clock the way they did, but I thought they got away from running their arsenal at UK. It became too much Grant and not enough team. But Notre Dame played great and had a chance. The Irish can hold their heads high.

Running it down to 10 seconds and then get into some team basketball. With 5 or 6 seconds, there is just not enough time to do anything but one-on-one.

It is simply not worthwhile trying to shave off a few extra seconds at the cost of moving away from what has been working the whole game.

I hate running the clock down when you've got a team 1 more punch away from a TKO.. a fighter isn't going to back off right before the last hit of a combo that would end the fight, just because they think they will win the decision.. End the game, don't wait for the game to end.

I'm absolutely disgusted, they escaped again and had a bunch of terrible calls that gave Kensucky just enough to win again!

I literally am angry at God for allowing Calipari, the slimiest SOB in the sport, to have another ahhhh we played like crap and still won postgane talk again. How can the basketball Gods do this?! Kensucky has 1 big man with enough moves to score and ND let him singlehandedly win the game.

It feels just like the Tarholes won and advanced except I llke Roy a million times more than slimeball Calimari. I wanna vomit with their 40-0 shirts still in tact, absolutely vomit!!

You and I are having the same reaction to this one. I really thought it was about to happen and I really am still kind of shocked that Kentucky pulled it off and got that call at the end. Alas, it was not to be.

Relax.... They looked so completely beatable last night, I don't see them winning two more. IF, and that's a big if, they get by WI.... And we continue to do what we do.....: it will make #5 all that much sweeter!!!
