Could this be the first year nobody goes pro

The only player on the team who looks like a lottery pick is Flip. Whitehead could go on reputation, but he needs some work and Lively needs a lot of work on the offensive side, but right now unless somebody catches on fire another year would be to their benefit.

Dariq will absolutely be gone, lively too based on his “traits” where someone will draft and stash him

I know the plan was for 2 year Flip, but he was ACC rookie of the week several times and just put up 28 and 13 against Pitt. NIL won't compete with first round $. If he did come back he'd be nicknamed "The Exception."

The way I look at it, any 5 star that comes to Duke is leaving after 1 season. That way I'm not surprised. Not sure what the answer is, because we seem to have more of a record of kids leaving after one season than any other school.
It's a blessing and a curse to be a Duke fan over the last several seasons.

No and NIL will not help . Couple things work against Duke but benefit Duke .

1- Duke is always on National TV so scouts have more then enough viewing time to look at the players. ( also is the reason a lot of players come to Duke . )
2. NIL will help with players like Roach . Good college players that might make an NBA roster . Not sure fire OAD basically but like we’ve seen who don’t consider their self OAD at Duke.
3. Flip isn’t going in the lottery, period . He will go mid to late first round. He could see his stock as not changing and come back just to improve on his defense and shooting for the next level , but I’d doubt it .
4- Whitehead is gone . He’s not falling past 20 in the draft .

Put your money on one of Proctor ( doubt it) or Mitchell returning ( closest to most likely right now ) .
Something to think about . Duke has four players coming in at 6’8”. Only two are hybrid fours and one a straight pf . Two guards as well .

That’s why we need to show Reeves the love!
Stewart can play center if needed if , Reeves and should Young return will man it .
Mgbako and Power can play both the PF and Sf position .
Should for some reason Mitchell and Flip were to decide to return they are starters .

This team could really use a senior Matthew Hurt's shooting. Good Lord. Last year too. Even if he was 6th man last year I find it hard to believe we wouldn't have hung a banner. And he would have been drafted. Has anyone heard what Hurt is up to? G League? He signed a 2 way contract but I don't think he ever got called up.

I agree with everything you have said except Whitehead. I've watched a lot of college basketball this season and most Tier 1 teams have two things in common; Juniors and Seniors that contribute at a high level and Tier 1 transfers. This year's team is filled with top tier freshmen. Our freshmen are going up against grown men every night.

"A Senior Matthew Hurt..." That is a big statemen. We need seniors that have been in the program for 4 years.

Reeves need to get some pt soon. I'm concerned with the coaching staff in regards to that.

True. Serious question. If we get everyone back but Grandison/Lively/Flip how good would we be next year? Nothing guaranteed but that sounds like preseason number one to me. And we'd have experience.

If any of these guys go, which I presume 2-3 will for sure, its consistent with the quality of NBA play at the moment. For me its unwatchable. I happened on Last Dance again over the holidays and it was amazing to see the difference in play and the scores...games were not always over 100pts on both teams...they were hard fought in the 80's -90s for the most part. I'd like to see us get more overseas players..they seem to be good + stay longer..Connecticut has 4 and plays really well, and Zags have used that route for success too. Getting the highest profile HS recruits from the US seems to lead to them inevitably going pro after one year.

I think I saw where UCONN has lost 4 out of their last 5 games.

I see the G league is well stocked with former Duke players. Nice career to be had there. Must be much better than staying at Duke.
I certainly hope we're not using the G league as a big selling point in our recruiting pitch. I think it's fine for our coaches to answer questions about playing in the pros, and be positive with potential recruits.

Emphasis should be on the Duke experience, Final Fours, nattys, playing in Cameron, "The Crazies." Also stress the NIL also, whatever. It's important we start getting an extra year or so out of these OAD's.

Getting that extra year is key. We do not go to the final four last year without Moore and Williams staying an extra year. We need 2 guys to stay this year or next year will be more of the same. We won't be bad; but no one will fear us.

Exactly Chris! OFC

Then I suggest you call Duke and start getting NIL deals bigger then what the NBA offers .
Please listen to this . If an NBA team signs a player . League minimum is 900,000. Just because players are playing in the gleague does not mean they can’t make the league . It’s because the teams that have drafted them have similar players under bigger contracts which means you play them and let the rookies play in the gleague for development so you do not have to resign them if you can’t trade them because the rookie will take less money to play on the active roster . We need to stop looking at it as players playing in the gleague ( especially if a gleague team isn’t the one who signed you). And start looking at how to counter it . Best case an NIL deal over 2 million .

I would stay for 2 mil. Bacot I know for sure is making over a mil. I am sure Love, Davis and Black are well taken care of. Maybe over a half mil each. NIL deals vary so much school to school. OFC

Roach just signed a deal , him and Bacot with BOA hydrate. The company is the one that provided Paolo with his drink when he caught cramps last season . It’s worth anywhere from 150-250 thousand.
