If a kid is that interested in NIL, I can't imagine many, if any, schools better than Duke. The brand name and TV presence speaks for itself.
With all due respect the UNCheats have it better....NIL + national exposure + AFAM degree = head and shoulders above any other program in the country!NIL + national exposure = head and shoulders above any other program in the country!
Yeah I like his movement. Reminds me a little of LaMelo Ball for some reason. Lanky, good ball handler, good shooter. 247 has him as a 5 star recruit.I like the fact that we have gotten 2 elite point guards for the next class. Shows Jon is prioritizing the position. The kid from Australia is impressive in videos.
Don’t forget Duke has Reeves red shirting and Steward coming in 23.I asked this earlier but who will be our big man for 2023? Borden, Flip if he stays second year, or transfer portal?
Don’t think he needs a scholarship just wondering did they classify this year as a walk on year seeing as he didn’t play in a single game .Walk on who earns a scholarship next year I would think. He seems to be a project. I am more intrigued by Christian Reeves.
I totally believe that the NIL era favors Duke. Duke has been way ahead of the rest of the pack in branding its program - Dave Bradley gets lots of credit for that. That has to have made our NIL efforts much more effective.Somewhere I read that in a recruit's visit to Duke, they get a whole presentation by someone who is business-related about NIL opportunities. One recruit, again my memory fails me, was blown away with how well organized and professional the NIL opportunities are at Duke. I got the impression that it was head and shoulders over anything he saw at any other school. That right there might be one of the reasons Duke is doing so well. Along with everything else Duke offers.
Flip ended pretty well with 8 boards, and good all around play. Lively had a quiet night, and did Mackenzie and Tyrese. Dariq was a stud, though.Flip looks a little overwhelmed so far. Dariq looks like the real deal. Haven't seen much of Lively
They're all fairly thin for their height. It may work in HS but the next lever level is a different beast. Need some beef down there or we're gonna get dominated on the boards again. Both Bacot and Tshiebwe are rebounding machines. Even if we can find someone half as capable as them would be a win.I realize these are all star games, but this has been 2 games of "quiet" Lively. " We need him to be more than quiet next year. Probably too soon to tell, but he seems a little timid. I got spoiled this year with Banchero and Williams. We need a transfer bruiser.
I agree but he won't fill out in a few months and he doubt he'll be around for a second year likes Williams.Once Lively starts to fill out and hit the weight program he should be straight!
Flip is in the top twenty of the NBA mock draft while Mitchell is early second round . Mitchell is intriguing but I hold reserve on him staying until after next season.Lively and Whitehead are definitely one and done due to their upside. My hope is Flip and Mitchell are two and dones; but this is Duke so maybe one of them returns. Schutt is a likely 4 year guy.
Because it’s not that hard to predict . And this is a 2023 thread just saying .Damn, already talking about who’s leaving early next year and they haven’t even stepped foot on campus.
Let’s enjoy watching them play a few games before we worry about who’s leaving or staying. Just sayingBecause it’s not that hard to predict . And this is a 2023 thread just saying .
I don’t think Flip gives a Flip lolYeah I don't think you're giving Flip enough credit. Based on one game?
I mean now - he’s pretty slow laterally and not that long for a 6’10 guy. He’s a beefed up Hurt at this point. He will get better but as of now that top 20 pick is a bit lofty lol. Why?
Oh no not on one game. I’ve watched him play about 4-5 times online. He’s a good pickup but not top 20 as of now.I don’t think Flip gives a Flip lol
If he stays where every mock draft has him he is gone. IMO Duke needs him to be worthy of that rank with nothing but freshman on the roster .I mean now - he’s pretty slow laterally and not that long for a 6’10 guy. He’s a beefed up Hurt at this point. No Hurt is not. He comes in twice almost Hurts muscle and mass and is not afraid to mix it up down low . Hurt could not hold his own in the paint Flip can. I think he’s more skilled then the big at Wake forest who plays inside out who is a better comparison.I think he will fall somewhere in the middle of what people are saying. Hurt is a good comp as far as impact. It's a weak class that some of the top guys have reclassed. But he's still good. He had trouble getting his shot off at the Hoops Summit. Not as good a shooter as Hurt, but probably a better defender and rebounder. Decent year one and really good year two (hopefully) is my guess. Personally I don't like setting my expectation too high so I'm not disappointed. If he surpasses my expectations then it's a bonus.

Hurt was listed as a small forward at 6’9” 190
Kyle is listed as a center at 6’11” 220.
