I agree that Kon is much better than I thought he would be. But the starting unit was -15 last night, with us winning by 6. Now, Maluach wasn't great last night, but Kon wasn't giving us anything either and he got beat on defense more than once. The starting unit was awful against Kansas too.Evans no doubt made the most of his time, and should probably play more than he has. But I don't think he should have started the 2nd half over Kon. Even though he hasn't hit a lot of shots on the road, he brings so much to the table. He's better than I thought he was going to be.
I also feel we have enough talent that no one should be playing 35+ minutes a game. So hopefully Jon can at least keep an 8 man rotation.

Kon plays hard, and the 3 WILL fall for him again, but last night Evans was the man. Another gripe was our play at the end of the 1st half, guess what play we ran??? Everyone stand around and let Flagg go 1 on 1, he got away with a push off, and missed a very tough jumper. Why didn't we run any action?
I think Gillis' 46% last year is a bit fools gold due to the attention that Edey drew for Purdue. Regardless, he has to hit threes to play for us. He seems like a great locker room guy though whether he is playing or not.Kon is such a threat though overall, yet I certainly can’t defend his overall outside shooting stats of late. But I say let’s shift minutes from Gillis to Evans and slide over some of Kon’s.
Like Spatola was saying the other day if Gillis is not hitting that’s a big deal as that’s his first big task. And he was 46% with Purdue last year from 3. If Evans is not hitting, I still think Evans can do a lot of other things better than Gillis can.
1. Very embarrassing -- as in, Tuesday night might be the worst regular-season day for ACC basketball in its history.Glad Duke didn’t contribute to that in a negative way but how embarrassing is that for the ACC and what needs to change?
I don't want to sound negative. But were we prepared?? We got down 12-2 very quick. Thank god he took a timeout at that point though. All of our big games, once the game gets into a flow, we ALWAYS make a run, because we are the better and more talented team. It's the first 4/last 4 minutes of each half that I worry about. How much of that is coaching? How much of that is freshman? I'm not sure honestly.

Tough to complain much though. We are the #1 Ken Pom defense in the country. And all 3 of Jon's years, we have been good on defense. It seems that he teaches defense over offense more in the offseason, which I like.
Bama shot 12/33 which for them is probably right at average. UNC just looked awful, highlighted by RJ going 7/24. They are a poor rebounding team, and they had a lot of dumb turnovers which led to Alabama dunks.I was on a plane and didn’t get to see. But I sure saw the score during our game once I got to my destination. Was Bama nailing the long ball as usual?
Imagine what they would look like if Trimble didn’t have a change of heart. They will have their games when they can’t miss from deep. Just hope they are not against Duke.
Watched their whole game against Alabama last night and they just aren't very good right now. Gotta love it.
What a difference not having Bacot in there rebounding all the misses.
Home run transfers, not seeing it from Gillis tho. Rather have evans get those minutes
I don't think that was a 'for real' moment. It might've been, 'let me see what it looks like'.Jon tried this in the Seattle game. We had 3 offensive possessions and scored 0. Maliq missed an open 3, we had a turnover, and Flagg missed a contested jumper. Defenses aren't guarding Mal/Brown away from the basket. So our only hope is for one of them to make an open 3. Not ideal.
Defensively the lineup would be insane, but our defense is fine, we need more offense, and this lineup is our worst possible offensive lineup.
YES. Send me a PM sometime.Same! Want to meet up somewhere to do some pregaming before the game?
I’ll more than likely arrive around 2 or 3pm on Sunday.
Ah, the hit dog yelps. Many on this board has stated that Evans needs playing time instead of rotting on the bench because his shooting would make a difference. Jon finally stopped being a bone head about it last night and look at the results. Duke was +16 with Evans on the floor last night, by the way.
Maluach wasn't great last night but he was also going against the possible National POY. Most believe we win the Kentucky game if Maluach doesn't get cramps, there is an important role for him still on this team. I think it's more matchup dependant but overall I see Mal/Brown getting about a 20/20 minute split. And no, they can't be on the court together, Jon tried this in the Seattle game and the best shots we could get were Mal/Brown open 3's because they weren't being guarded. Maybe they could for a defensive possesion or 2.
Regardless......HUGE WIN!!! EVANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll be in the building Sunday.
