Slow Starts

Duke as consistently had slow starts and I feel that they are always climbing from behind in the early minutes... first half. Thoughts?
Looked up his stats for this year 12.8 points a game around 5 rebounds and shooting 48 percentI don’t mean to throw shade at Mitchell, but he was spastic, and had an awful shot. Not sure how he was so highly rated.
Was he really though? He barely wanted to mix it up inside which is where he did his most damage .I would say Mitchell was willing to do what was needed for the team. Ultimately he was persuaded by his father to leave Duke.
Mitchell was aggressive for Duke while he played for The Blue Devils.
Maturity. Maliq wants to play his position. Sean was the only one willing to do what was needed for the team.Brown>Mitchell, Stewart and Power combined.
1. Yes, too often (first half - much better in second) we were chasing shooters instead of guarding them.Watching the 10 minute highlights.
1. Want to know why teams hit 3's against us? They have room. You give a Div. 1 player 5 feet and they can hit it. Holding your hand up does not effect them. need to tighten that up.
2. Proctor being very aggressive with the ball, in a good way.
3. Mal looks a little lost out there; esp. on D.
4. I was watching Gillis. He denied his man the ball, then slid over, blocked a shot, and led to a Kon lay up. Kid is smart and solid.
5. Big play with Cooper getting the steal, then getting the 2nd foul on their big man.
6. Sion with some big boy plays. My goodness. That dunk down the lane.
7. My dad the coach would love Brown. Every play he makes is a positive. Creates havoc defensively. Gets guys out of rhythm.
8. Flagg taking over. He has guard skills.
9. Kon had a solid game after the early misses. Made some crafty passes.
10. I'm seeing a mean streak in Flagg I didn't see earlier. Very nice on some tough finishes.
We took their best shot and won by double digits. Good job team.
Brown's defense is magnificent, but there's definitely room to improve on FT shooting (33.3%) and turnover rate (35.4%).Chris it’s always possible with teams who covet defensive prowess, but he can still improve on the offensive end.
Brown returns for his senior year, He and Foster are Co-Captains.
Seemed like Louisville missing the same shots they hit in the first half was the key. Duke shot no better from 3 so they finally quit doing it. Might be the key in all the road games. Our defense in the second half won us this game.
We would probably get caught in a switch and have to foulPeople have suggested it but it would kill our spacing. While Jon's encouraging Maliq to shoot the corner 3 and he hit a BIG one against KU...he's not a reliable threat or a ball handler to pull the defense out.
Bottom line is we couldn't get to the rim in any capacity with brown & maluach playing at the same time. We could try it, but i suspect the staff knows this, the foul trouble risks, and chooses to split our big guys' minutes that way.

Maluach can guard the lane, and the rest can be more aggressive clamping on the outside. If their men get by, Mal is there to protect the rim. And Brown on the perimeter is such a PITA for the other team, it has to disrupt their offensive scheme.
