The New Lounge

You can repeat the narrative that there was no widespread fraud in the 2020 election. But you can't say that it was a legitimate election. So many rules were ditched in order to make ballots verifiable that would never be allowed in a secure election. Last night didn't do anything to help the optics of the 2020 election either. The candidate of joy and vibes with so much enthusiasm around her came up almost 20 million votes short of what the candidate that hid in his basement for an entire campaign and couldn't get more than a dozen people to show up when he did crawl out. Trump increased his votes in every demographic except for white males from 2016. They want us to ignore all of that and believe them when they told us it was the safest and most secure election of all time. Lol. Y'all could have been done with Trump in a couple of months. But you've had him in your heads for 8 years and now you get 4 more years of him.
Uhhh, the actual facts are all that is needed to validate the unprecedented security of the 2020 election. Nothing you said changes that fact.
The MAGA base kept him at the forefront of everyone's mind for 8 years. He never went away.

No more than expecting you to learn to pronounce their name correctly.
They already has a meaning. It’s plural. Using it to refer to one person is nonsensical They should have just created a new word instead of redefining an existing word

I’m enjoying datts meltdown way too much. Hope he’s ready for project 2025 ;) also I did vote for Robinson and morrow! Actually have a picture with BOTH of them!
Business as usual for me. I don't know what meltdown you're fantasizing about.

Trump was not involved in creating Project 2025 to the best of my knowledge, but he will now adhere to much of it.

Robinson and Morrow lost. I'm not surprised you voted for both. They're in the past now. I already knew you didn't care about public schools so voting for someone for Superintendent of Public Instruction who also hates public schools fits.

No respect to our moderator. This is consistent with your general lack of couth and knowledge of social morays

That's not how language works. The word "manufacture"? It literally means "made by hand." When we created factories to make things for us, we adapted the existing word. "Ambulance"? They walked for those who couldn't because they were first stretchers that others carried. We added wheels, then an internal combustion engine, and we went on using the same word.

"Internet" is a notable exception in my lifetime. It usually requires some kind of huge invention or discovery for that to happen. "Manufacture" is far more the norm.

While the use of the singular "they" as applied to people who are non-binary is relatively recent, its use has existed for about 650 years, at least.

We use it all the time in sentences like, "Did everyone remember their toothbrush?"

I saw an interview yesterday with a sackless man saying that he voted for Kamala because he has a daughter and he wanted her to be able to control her own body and make her own choices. This is a look into how brainwashed and weak liberal men are. He made his main decision based on a hypothetical situation where his daughter gets knocked up and can have an abortion. These people are sick. But it gives me hope that the young voters went in a pretty good direction in this election.

You sound like my 86 yr old MIL. I asked her about her thoughts about RFKJr. She said I never liked the way he looked. That’s the Dems in a nutshell.
Your one 86 yr old MIL is Dems in a nutshell. Sure.

In state and local politics, we weren't as divided in the '90s. The party platforms haven't changed much in a while. There are some mandatory things in only the Democratic platform for me and there are some untenable things in only the GOP platform for me. Until we have candidates breaking from party lines and going their own way, I don't see how person and party aren't one and the same.

On a good day, some of y'all will admit you don't care for our President-elect's personal character, but you like his policies. It's not like you're voting for the person then; you're voting for party. Same on the other side.

Civil liberties matter.

"Sackless man"? Is that your creative and disrespectful way of saying a transman, or just a generalized insult to a man whose politics in a sound bite are objectionable to you?

Have you always been so vehemently pro-life? I don't remember that from, say, 10 years ago.

I could care less about the person and yes I vote on policies. By the way, I like Trump’s personality. You might want to watch his 3 hour interview on Rogan in which Kamala declined not to be on. Just keep slurping on the main stream media’s teat. Besides abortion, what policies of Kamala’s do you support. She’s flipped flop so much I really don’t know what she believes. I know, I know it’s on her web page. She’s obviously a puppet and I prefer some one who can make decisions on their own.

It's over. She lost. I really can't think of a single issue where I don't prefer her stance. All civil liberties, the mere acknowledgment of climate change, taxes, respect for public education, unions, college loan forgiveness, infrastructure, healthcare, more... And I have no interest in discussing any of them because I have no hope that you're capable of doing so respectfully. And the election is now over. She lost. Her policies are irrelevant.

I have no interest in Rogan's interviewing our President-elect. I do not consume much main stream media, let alone suckle at its teat, but assuming I do is yet another example of the bad faith I would expect from you in the discussion I just said I have no interest in having with you.

Jesus man. It has nothing to do with trans shit. I am just saying he has no balls.

I have always been in favor of not bragging about abortions and making it a deciding factor in how I voted. It's a religion to some people now where it wasn't before. I am pro life in the sense that I would never want someone in my life to choose to have an abortion over other options. But I have never cared enough about it to cast judgement on those who have made the choice until in the past couple of decades I realized how sick people are with it. Safe, legal and rare. Remember that? Now it's, fvck I'm pregnant. I need to get rid of this thing.

Spot on. Rogan's interview with Trump has had over 30 million views. Trump also did an interview with Dr Phil. Saw an interview with him yesterday where he said he offered Kamala the same treatment. She declined. We know why too. She's an empty vessel.

The hatred for Trump has nothing to do with policies. They just don't like the guy. That's such a weak and pathetic reason. If I needed a lawyer to get out of trouble, and the best one happens to be a jerk, I'm taking the jerk.

The Republican Party has become the party for the working man. The democrats seem to want a handout for everything. Free Medicare for all, loan forgiveness, and how the hell do you lower taxes if you’re going to give everything away. Datt’s right on one thing, Trump will be the 47th POTUS.

So you would ask the question “Did everyone remember their toothbrush?” to one person or a group of people?

Twenty years ago, most Dems recognized the horror involved with abortion. Thus, the safe legal and rare mantra. You don’t hear that much nowadays because the Dems have normalized the murder of unborn children. They still support the safe and legal part. They couldn’t give two shits whether it’s rare or not, though.

No. People seeking abortions haven't changed. The narrative about them has. I remember pro-life people objecting to people using it as birth control as far back as the '80s. That has gotten more and more aggressive and we've grown more and more divided.

I seriously doubt the man you detest so much is only voting on that one issue. It's the first thing that came to mind when someone stuck a microphone in his face. It's also a provocative topic, which is why President Trump lied about VP Harris' stance during their debate.

So you would ask the question “Did everyone remember their toothbrush?” to one person or a group of people?
To a group, but the word itself is grammatically singular, further evidenced by the singular conjugation of the verb "did."
Make it, "Hey, did someone drop their toothbrush on the bus?" It's one person of indeterminate gender -- indeterminate because you don't know who it is. That's been pretty conventional for a long time.

I make everyone here look like an idiot every time anything related to public education comes up. Just like the etymology lesson I just gave KD (except the idiot part; that wasn’t combative). Y’all don’t even take bait about it because you know I’m the sole expert here.

I’ll admit it when I don’t know about a topic. Education? Linguistics? That’s my jam.

I think you mentioned your birth year the other day and you’re one year younger than I am. How do you get to this age without accepting that people have genuinely different worldviews and opinions about political policies? Are you even capable of respectful disagreement?

You trying to be cool by saying things like “that’s my jam” reminds me of that time Bob Hope pretended that he was the Fonz for some reason

Etymology? That was about insects? I totally missed the point 🙁

Having different worldviews is one thing. When I think they are hurting people, of course I’m going to disagree. Politics make many of us get a little hot under the collar.

Take Trump for example. He burst onto the scene 9 years ago due to our government continuing to get out of touch with the people they’re paid to represent. The same applies to Fox News. I know you consider them unreliable, but is it possible they were only created because the other outlets weren’t being fair?
