The New Lounge

It's all about different issues on the left, but issues all the same. But you won, we lost. The issues you find more important will be prioritized. The left can dig their heels in and be ignored, or we can participate and hopefully be included.
Fair enough. A lot will depend on the media, and how they broadcast it. I won't hold my breath that they'll be honest though. If Trump messes up, I want to know. But this twisting of words to intentionally make him look bad has to stop.

Well I gave you examples that you ignored. What are some examples that even come close to begin as vile and nasty as those?
Hate crimes rose by 20% during his first term, according to the FBI, led by his appointee.
I really, really don't wanna continue down this route. You said it was your opinion before and I left it alone.

This is the evil stuff the right has been saying goes on. Whether it’s the media, our leaders, or FEMA in this video, this is widespread, and is part of the Democrats DNA.

If this was the party I supported, I’d be embarrassed, and would abandon their asses.

Lol. Weak. How does this show that it is the right? So stupid. You don't want to go down this path because you don't have a leg to stand on.

And how many of the countless hoaxes during that time were part of those numbers?

If you're the judge of whether they count or not, yeah, I'd agree that it's doubtful. But then I get to go back and evaluate your examples and dismiss each of them, too, and we get back into the weeds again.
Just as I predicted.

You bring a handful of isolated incidents as your proof. I bring hard stats from the FBI. The reason I don't care to go down this path is because there's really no changing our perceptions. When you acknowledged it as your opinion, I left it alone. But you're doubting I could possibly have a legitimate, sincere difference of opinion?

Edit: point of clarification... when I said I could name "many more," I didn't mean I could name more right-wing examples than you could name left-wing examples (neither of us could possibly name them all, so it would just be an exercise in attrition); I meant I could name more than you would accept. Like, I imagine you would accept that defeated Superintendent of Public Instruction candidate Michele Morrow calling for the pay-per-view executions of Gov Cooper, Pres Obama, and Pres Biden would qualify as an example. I suspect there are others I could name that you would not accept.

So we are to assume that every so called hate crime is from the right and is legitimate. Got you. Just dumb.

The implication of them rising under President Trump during his first term is that they are due to emboldened white nationalists and the like.

"Since Trump’s [2016] election there has been an anomalous spike in hate crimes concentrated in counties where Trump won by larger margins."

My prediction, though, is that you will dismiss it entirely, which makes this a pretty pointless discussion.

Also. Those were isolated incidents in the sense that they were individual events. But they represent a trend. How are those isolated incidents, but vague data from the fbi isn't a series of isolated incidents?

Datt, you're proving nothing even close to what we're talking about. Not to mention, I give you examples that are clear and directed specifically at Trump from celebrity lefties. You just want everyone to assume that not only are the fbi statistics correct, but that they are all from the right, directed at the left. I can give you so many more examples from thos past week. But hey, why bother.

Naming a handful across a country of over 300 million... versus data about thousands of incidents?

Forgive me for not believing you, but I'd like to see the entire clip of what this candidate said. Maybe she said this. If she did, she should face consequences.

But I've seen way too much shenanigans by the media/left, so it wouldn't surprise me at all if this has been edited.

You thought that you had this big gotcha here. But it might be the weakest attempt ever. Again it's vague and it is assuming that only one side is responsible for it. AND that it is political at all.

Ted Nugent calling for Obama and Hillary Clinton to be shot
President Trump supporters and January 6th
Hate crime spikes in specific counties that went heavily for Trump
The attack on Paul Pelosi and the mockery following it from Don, Jr and others
The plot to kidnap Michigan Gov Gretchen Whitmer
Driving into counter-protesters in Charlottesville

But really, we could both go on for a long time with specific examples, too. Why, though? Like I said, neither of us will ever run out of examples, so it's just a matter of who gets tired and stops first.

If Nugent said that. Point for you.

No points for January 6th.

1/2 Point for Pelosi because of the mockery. The attack wasn't from the right.

The FBI plotted to kidnap Gretchen.

We can give you a point for the protester being run over. But you would lose a lot more points during the 2020 riots.

Again, I have predicted from the beginning that you would just dismiss examples. I think they're completely legit. We're operating from completely different sets of facts. There is no point to this.

I didn't just dismiss. I gave legitimate reasons why they should be dismissed.

Her comment on the firing squad and televising someone's death may be over the top, but I share her disdain for our leadership in how they've handled the economy, covid, the border, social issues, and most especially Donald Trump (and his supporters) the last four years.

Any person with a pulse should be outraged at what we've been witnessing since Biden took office.

Sounds a little election deniery. Just a little. They mostly want the idiots who supported the fake campaign to pay for her gross mismanagement of campaign funds.

Will you donate?
It's not a denial, but it's denial-adjacent.
I'd say I'm the only possible person here that question could really be directed at, and my answer is an emphatic no.

The question was sarcasm. Not really directed at you or anyone else.

So... any cabinet nominations give you pause, or are they all home runs so far?

Hegseth was out of left field. But he is a smart guy with 20 years of military experience, so it doesn't bother me as much.

The one that is just dumb, is Gaetz for AG. That dude is a tool. I am hoping that he doesn't get through Congress. That's the only one that is really concerning. There are some weird ones, but he needs to go with different people to do what he wants to do.

Understand the concern on Gaetz. I'm on the fence with Rubio. Hope he hasn't been corrupted too much from being in DC since 2011. As far as Hegseth, we've had way too many DC military politicians. So he may be what we need. I also like the Gabbard pick.

If Musk will do what the rumors are saying? It could be epic.

This is me. I like them all except gaetz.. but to see them cry over him kinda makes me want to like him lol
That’s kind of how I was with Trump actually. At first I was like meh.
But after seeing the media hyperventilate for a few months and the fact that he pissed ALL of the right people off, I was like Nah this is my guy

A couple of you have expressed the idea that complaints from the left make you like someone more. Does that include sober, non-hysterical, rational criticism? Or are you just talking about hysterical, over-the-top hyperbole about the end of democracy?

A problem in the first Trump Presidency I hope we would all agree on was that he chose so many people with some expertise but no govt experience that there were lots of errors and incompetence about how to get things done. By all means, let's clean up the establishment, but "establishment" can't be synonymous with "experience."

This sounds good, but there's more to it than we can possibly know through twitter. That one line about prisoner benefits for example: prisoners still have rights, and seeing to those rights while in prison is likely more expensive than it is for the rest of us. Like, if a prisoner needs medical treatment outside the prison, there's all kinds of security that is needed to keep them secure. Same with undocumented immigrants and a variety of other people whose classification makes them less likely to elicit sympathy: they still have rights. Rights are free to individuals, but they cost the govt to provide at times. A public defender is one obvious example.

“keep them secure”. You spelled them wrong. It’s spelled u-s
Undocumented You mean the illegals right? I’m all for treating people humanely, but show me in the US Constitution these rights of which you speak
