Official game day thread- Duke vs Louisville II- ACC Championship

Looking at the box score, Mal and Pat's minutes add up to 41. Is that just a rounding glitch, or did they see time on the court together? I don't remember seeing them out there together.

Two things I think you need to win it all is veteran guards and frontcourt depth. We have Proctor and Sion, and the emergence of Pat gives us nice depth. I am not holding my breath on Brown coming back, he seems a bit snake bitten with injuries this year.

Malik ain't coming back this year.
But Coop has length and skill to defend in the post, so he adds to post depth, and our overall size helps rebounding.
I'll add that at this point, Coop and Kon definitely qualify as veterans with strong enough ball-handling to be backcourt contributors.

Chris,

Florida is the projected 1 seed for out West at the moment, but there is the belief that the winner of this Florida and Tennessee Championship game will Earn the Final #1

Both teams dominated each other on their home courts and split their regular matchups against one another. So this Championship game is Essentially for the #1 seed out West.

Duke scored 1.26 points per possession last night. That's elite by any standard.

congratulations, again I was talking about a certain time frame of the game last night 🤡. Do you not understand that the game is ever changing? When I posted that comment, it was obvious our ball movement died. In fact several other posters commented about it, wasn’t just me.

In this certain time frame 4:12-0 we scored 5 to Louisville’s 10.

We were elite when you look at the game as a whole , just not that sequence

not sure how you’re still lacking comprehension here. I’ll give you an example, proctor a good ft shooter was hitting 75% before last night. At the end, he went 1-5. Although he’s been solid all year, last night he was bad from the stripe. Do you understand now? 🤡🤡🤡🤡

Hopefully they end up a 1 and on the complete opposite side. Also, I keep seeing UConn as the 8 in east. They are certainly not as good as last two years, but still do not love them in 2nd round.

I get it. You complain about Duke's offense year in and year out. It's unending.

They'll be possessions when they don't score. The opposing team will invariably go on a run or two. It happens. No team is immune from that. Bottom line -- Duke's offensive and defensive efficiency were championship level last night.

The good thing is teams Duke faces in the 2nd round, Elite 8, and/or National Championship as Duke advances in the tournament will only have a day to prepare for Duke

Could there be an argument that Florida gets a 1 seed in the east instead of Auburn? Auburn has lost 3 of their last 4 albeit against some good teams and Florida beat them head to head.

If the “Quad” mess we hear endlessly about is a huge deal like it’s portrayed then they would get a 1 and the Heels would be NIT bound.

The Gators should get the number one seed.

They are 5-1 versus UT, Auburn, and Alabama.

Toughest conference in basketball history really.

I absolutely hate every sports team from UF. UNC, KY jelly, and UF. 3 most hated.

So it’s painful. But they are the best team right now. I would favor them to win it all, personally, even though, of course, I want Duke.

Louisville may be a 7 seed but they were also ranked #13 which does mean something. I expect Duke to get the 1 overall but the committee does whatever they want…. Looking at you bubba
We did not play near the schedule that Florida or Auburn did. Florida is hands-down worthy of the number one seed based on their record and schedule. And they dominated great teams. Statistically, they are the best team. They went 14-4 in the SEC and won the tournament in arguably the greatest Single-season basketball conference in college basketball history. 5-1 vs the other three top teams in the SEC all of whom will be a 1 seed and 2 2 seeds.

We could beat them if we play our best game. But they are the best team in the country. I say that and you’d be hard-pressed to find a bigger hater of that sports program than me. I’ve despise them since the mid 80s.

I got all the SEC quacks in a tizzy over suggesting this with explanation over on the national board. They're only 8-4 since the beginning of February with most of their wins being against (albeit the greatest and deepest conference ever known to mankind) the bottom of the SEC with only a couple of dominant performances. And as you said, they finished 1-3 in their last four games with the one being a modest victory over a team they beat twice easily, including by 30 in one of those games.

It's funny seeing Kentucky fans propping the conference nonsense

ESPN radio in my car is the worst. Selection Sunday and they talked about spring college football for 2 hours.

Coop makes us best overall, but will he be 100%? From the celebration inside the locker room after they posted he’s jumping around like Thursday never happened so I’ll go to sleep thinking he’s 100% lol

It should be Duke, Florida, Houston and Auburn, in that order. The committee got real lucky with Tennessee losing today. Auburn is limping in.

100%. Shoot a couple hundred a day.

I remember some years UK won the title or made deep tourney runs when the SEC was hardly a murderer’s row. Some of their fans responses in the past regarding league strength was that UK has never needed the SEC to be great. 🤷🏻‍♂️
