Not the way to trend on twitter....

Nothing to see here imo. Kid asked a question coach K responded. K didn’t quit on this team this team can not figure out team basketball to save their lives. Hurt doesn’t rotate like he’s supposed to in the paint when they stop driving and attempting to attack the basket they jack up threes with no teammates around the basket which leads to defensive rebounds and run outs. What they want him to say,” Geez I don’t know really . We’ve only played ten games, no true offseason or preaseason to prepare. Our returning players haven’t exactly helped out the freshman. Bakers shots aren’t falling and we’re getting hardly any production from the bench or bigs and three games we were with out Jalen who had one good prior to coming back. I think people simply want him to say we’re not good and he’s not going to do that he won’t throw his team under the bus I mean do people want him to be like Calipari? This season is what it’s going to be K has the blame just like the players. But imo, he’s earned enough respect not to want to throw anyone under the bus.

It's amazing how different this looked to me after watching a few times. The first time I saw an exhausted 70 years old man jumping on a 20 years old student. The first time I didn't hear Coach Krzyzewski's final comment that the next step is to prepare for Georgia Tech. That was the simple and best answer. Upon viewing a few more times, it didn't look as bad. Nobody looks good sitting 18 inches from a cheap camera. I would only suggest that Coach K let some gray creep into his hair. The 100% jet black doesn't look right

I texted this video to a friend last night who happened to cover Bob Knight while he was a student at IU. He told me this wouldn’t have made the top 25 of how Knight sometimes treated the student journalists.
I think this video is barely anything, but Knight probably shouldn't be our measuring stick when it comes to how we treat people.

It wasn’t meant as a measuring stick. We were texting back-and-forth about something else in sports and it came up in our conversation. He made the comment of it being nothing, not me.

As far as the K/student reporter thing...eh. I watched the video last night and didn't think anything about it until I saw this today. I know when I've coached before I didn't enjoy talking to anyone after a loss because I always felt so bad for the kids and mad at myself because I wondered if I could've done more to help them get over the hump. I get all introspective, quiet, and distant after a loss as a coach and as a fan. Human nature tends to take over in those moments. And I am just some poor schlub who doesn't even know a fraction of what K knows. I think in the moment he was clearly upset for his kids. Was it a great response? No. But, hardly anything to be in an uproar over.

He sounded frustrated which he should be but IMO his response was a little childish

If this was Cal or Roy everyone here would be hammering them...and if you say you wouldn't be them you're lying

AMEN VBD......It was not a good look for K IMO.....To your point YES we would be "hammering Cal or Roy."

I think we can all agree coach does not appear to enjoy losing. It makes him great, but it also gives the appearance of being a sore loser to the outside world at times.

I seem to remember people saying that Cal and Roy couldn't win without NBA talent.

No one likes to lose, especially when you're the best. He clearly hates it for this group because they're putting in the work and it's not translating to the court. He handles himself better than I would, haha

Coach K's grace when losing is why I picked Duke to be my team 30+ years ago. One incident, which really isn't bad, being blown out of proposition is the anomaly. People are looking for reasons to vilify him if this is what they think is being a sore loser.

This is such a stupid overblown story and another reason for Duke haters to run their mouths. A grown man asked coach a stupid question and coach answered it truthfully. Why are people on social media acting like coach attacked a child? These are the questions that get asked by nerds who never played sports but want to work in sports because it’s cool

Knight didn't treat professional journalist very well either. I have been in on interviews with coach K many times in the past, but, not in many years. He was always good at giving straight answers to reporters, even times when I wondered why. Never saw him berate reporters like Knight used to.

I can absolutely guarantee you I personally wouldn't be on here hammering Roy or Cal for this, because it is absolutely, 100% nothing, and a joke that anyone is making it a big deal. It's nothing. And if other Duke fans went after Roy or Cal for this, they'd be totally wrong.

Is K taking this season too seriously? Team is getting beat by every half decent team. They don’t have a good mix of players now, and it shows. If he thinks it’s his fault, or players aren’t trying hard it’s not that, just a tough year, will be better next year.

Haha yeah ok

Easy to say since it didn't happen to them

This was a student reporter at Duke.

I don't think K handled this as awful as haters are making it, but he certainly could have handled what is really a softball question better.

Student report aka grown man.

Who are we to say K should have handled it differently? He’s got my full support on how he handles questions

No K hater here! I LOVE the guy!!!! I just thought he could have handled the question better. I mentioned the issue trending on twitter, and of course thats the result of Duke Nation Haters. OFC

The person asking the question is a teenager. K has been coaching forever and has the advantage of being put in every uncomfortable position known to man. IMHO K should have handled this better.
Hope K didn’t make him cry.

Mark Twain said " Never argue with a man who buys ink by the barrel" . Coach K looked really tired. Better days are ahead. I guess Virginia and Florida State are pretty good. Duke is somewhere between #3 and #10. It's up to them to find their level

Yes. An adult man who attends college

Baptism by fire..... Ironically, it was the student-journalist's first ever question to K. In the long run, it may make the kid a very thick skinned & first rate reporter. I have been in his shoes however, and I know yesterday it was probably a tough experience for him. Tough one obviously for K too....

Uh no - college kids are not grown men. That happens after you’ve been married have children - responsibilities - house payments etc etc.

College kids are just that - kids.

But when talking about Duke basketball players people here refer to them as kids....hmmmm same aged people...K was wrong....dig down you can admit it...he won't kick you out of being a duke fan lol
Glad it was an afternoon game. Otherwise, the poor child’s parents might not have let him stay up late enough to pretend he’s a sports writer.

But our players are kids right? Yet another that think K can never do wrong

Great coach....yes
