Kessler transferring

Kessler wouldn't come here unless Williams left. That is not a good trade, although it would be something.

For the record, I agree wholeheartedly. I think it's the Zags. They get Holgrom and Kessler probably. I don't think Duke has a chance. If we kept Williams and added Kessler though..........heads would explode.

And hof fame coach roy williams would pitch a fit. I imagine he would have that law firm that got them off scot free from the academic scandal to stop the transfer even though it is the roy williams rule. He arranged the first I believe for a transfer to be eligible to play without sitting out a season in the same confernce with cam johnson. Still don't know how he pulled that one off. But don't expect kessler to be at Duke. OFC

Oh there's no chance Kessler ends up at the better shade of blue. My pick is the Zags. But Sky, my lord wouldn't be glorious to see him at Duke? There wouldn't be enough of Wanda's nanner puddin to put things right in this world for ole' Roy. It would be pitiful. Worst tragedy since the 09/10 Carolina season superceded Haiti as the worst tragedy of that year....according to Roy at least.

I'm trying to think of which program would be best for Kessler. It's not Gonzaga. It's too far away, and he needs an enforcer who will do the dirty work for him. I had visions of Sharpe playing another year and being the enforcer. Alas, those days have passed. Auburn is in disarray. Georgia stinks. Alabama might work, but I think that his family has ties to Auburn. Kentucky would be fun to make some fans furious. Maybe Indiana. Mike Woodson is a good man and knows the NBA game. Maybe wherever Porter Moser from Loyola coaches. Krutwig (sp?) operated from the high post. It would work for Kessler

A version of Kessler who wants to be a feature player and a perimeter threat doesn't seem likely if they land Holgrom. Or it would be an odd fit. They could probably make it work I guess, but I also don't think he'd see huge minutes.

Both Kessler and Holmgren lack muscle. And Drew Timme will only be a junior. And getting to Spokane from Georgia is no fun.

I would like to be the Athletic Director at Minnesota. The state produces plenty of talent. Holmgren this year. Jalen Suggs last year. Matthew Hurt, Kerwin Walton and plenty more. Hire a coach with some charisma, and you have it made. Of course. I said the same about the university of Washington and they stink.

Ton of chatter out there that Kessler may end up in Spokane next season. Saw that Duke and Kentucky have been in contact.

It would really surprise me if Duke was interested. Not because he isn't a good player, because he is going to be. More so because that isn't the area of need where Duke should be allocating their remaining roster spots. As it stands, Duke has Moore who can play 3/4, Griffin who can play 3/4, Banchero who can play 4/5, Williams at 5, Coleman at 3/4, and Baker at 3. The reality is that all of those guys will most likely not be on campus next year, but the cross-section that will be is still a good stable. As good as that group is going to be, guard play is still the most important thing and that is where Duke could use a little more depth (though Keels solves a lot of those problems).

Seeing Coleman as a 3 is a bit of a reach.

We will see what the zags are made of in the elite eight and final four . I don’t see them as a super team but a team that is benefiting from playing in a week conference and being around most of them for more then a year. If a team can get them to a slower tempo and not let them run out in transition they are in trouble . But they are a good team .

I forgot about the Haiti analogy. That was some good material. Need to start using it again. OFC

They are a very good team, but certainly not invincible.

I really hope the Zags win it all.
They are setting the standard at the moment. (last 3 years). All that is left is the mountain top.

I do not believe Hurt will return or Baldwin will choose Duke so I think Duke should aggressively pursue Kessler. Don’t see Coleman providing enough depth at 4/5. My roster/minutes hope would be
Center Williams 24 minutes, Kessler 16 minutes
PF Banchero 25 minutes , Kessler 10 minutes Coleman 5 minutes
SF Griffin 20 minutes , Moore 12 minutes , Baker 8 minutes
SG Steward 20 minutes, Keels 12 minutes. Moore 8 minutes
PG Roach 24 minutes, Stewart 8 minutes , Keels 8 minutes
I would also be in favor of Duke signing another PG... preferably a multi year transfer and find room to play him 6-8 minutes a game.

That would be great but why would Kessler or the transfer want just a few minutes? Ok I see 26 minutes for Kessler but I think he wants to start. If we get all those guys we're set. Tape could even help (believe he had back issues this year) a few minutes but it sounds like he's gone.

You are right in Kessler would want to start . Maybe Hurt will return and that would give Duke a loaded front court.

That would be incredible. Guard transfers are probably waiting to hear what Keels/Steward decides as far as Duke.

If Hurt returned and Keels came that would explain Brakefield and Goldwire. But it may just be random. And yes we would go big in that situation. Give Steward a ton of backup guard minutes. Or even start Steward at PG. We'd have a ton of flexibility. A returning junior 20ppg scorer? Yes please.

I’d be borderline stunned if it happened but, hey, it’s not a completely closed door apparently.

I think I would bring AJ , Keels and Moore off the bench and there would be 8 sharing starter minutes w Coleman and Baker the 9th and 10th player. It would be a tough sell but if the kids bought in on developing the team to win the title I think it would work. Years ago it was either Utah or Gonzaga that had 3 bigs up front.

Kessler will not play center anywhere for even 2 minutes. That's why he's leaving cheater u. He considers himself a 3 maybe a 2. No way will he go somewhere that he thinks will ask him to play center. OFC

At the moment I don’t think Duke will have a set roster until July.
Who’s the back up pg? Who’s the back up big should Coleman not return? What if Moore decides he wants a fresh start. The first key is to see who’s returning and who’s leaving. Until then the only real part Duke needs help is at pg.

are you aware that these guys are actually considering leaving?

I don’t know about a 2 or 3. Think Kessler wants to be stretch 4 like Hurt is.

If Coleman transfers I'm never using the term Duke 4 year team guy again.
Unfortunately even the lesser touted guys want to play ASAP, and be featured. With the rule changes for transfers it’s an open invitation to become a free agent. Guys are taking advantage of it. I wonder if we ever see a four year player again. I’m not even exaggerating. Goldwire could be the last we had.

That could potentially really bum me out. However, what about Baker? He's a senior next year.

Nothing would surprise me with him. Hopefully he stays and gets his degree.

I hope so man. Joey is a kid, I think, the majority of us Duke fans are pulling for. He always gives 100% on both ends. He's just not the player we thought he would be at this point in his career.
