Kessler transferring

Wouldn’t it be interesting if he ended up at Duke now that intra-conference transfers are allowed? Didnt it come down to us and UNC when we were recruiting him?

P.S. I’m not saying he is coming to Duke, just that he *could* come to Duke.
Would be epic even he didn’t pan out to see Uncheat fan jump off ledges

I did not intend for this post to be so long. It just grew and grew. If you can get through it I thank you. If not it's ok. I edited it to the beginning to give you fair warning. It's my thoughts and opinion and I do respect everyone elses. Think of how pissed those cheater fans would be. That would be so much fun to see that. I will tell you this even though hof coach started it all with the bringing in cam johnson from pitt he would lose his ram poop if kessler did that. He would have that AFAM team of chapel hill lawyers filing everything to stop that transfer even it was the hof coach roy williams rule which is just one more unc innovation that changed the game don't hate. Never have never will so I don't hate hof coach roy williams, nc cheater university, it's players or it's fans. I have family and friends that pull for that program. We just don't discuss the games out of mutual agreement. Their hospital there is tops and finally diagnosed me with a rare and uncurable disease which id under control and not life threatening with treatment. But I do disdain the discete, scam, fraud, lack of integrity by people in position that should have had the integrity to never supported the AFAM program from the start and that includes dean smith who believe it or not I did respect at one time. He knew about it. mack brown knew about it. johnny " tar heel " swofford knew about it. The then chancelor had to know about it and even though he was at KU he knew about it because when the heat started up at the scam or scandal was exposed he had his players stop their AFAM major and his first natty team over half the team was an AFAM major. He's a lying dog if he denies it. Yeah this is a long deepsouth post I got going here but I will never, ever let Duke fans or unc or any other fans forget about it. Any heel fans whose generic come back is "it happens everywhere" are drinking way too much of that wussy blue kool-aid and are as full of ram poop as hof coach roy williams and everyone that was involved in the scam. And for all those unc alumni of which I have family and friends who have earned their degrees by academic scholarships working part time and are still paying your student loans think about those who also have degrees from unc that because of the AFAM program may have your dream job right now. Right is right and wrong is wrong. That does not change through the generations of time. Yep this is a rant and may be misunderstood as s non athletic post but it has everything to do with athletics. Not just the major ones. I really don't mean to step on any toes here. That is not my intent. I have no desire to respond to any replies of support or non support. I've had my say. OFC

I'm glad that Kessler announced quickly. UNC needs to get quicker and tougher. There are so many players in the portal that a decent lineup can be assembled. Roy can't wait and settle for Pierce and Keeling talent
But why would anyone who is both good enough and likely to fit Roy's system take the risk?

The only transfer I can think of who improved his stature was Cam Johnson. And while he was pretty good his first year at UNC, he didn't turn into a lottery pick until his second year.

So, on one hand, UNC may need some folks who can play right away. But if you have only 1 year to give, UNC may not be a good choice. On the other hand, if you are planning to stay there for 2 years, UNC could be a smart pick

A huge loss for my Tar Heels. Kessler was promised that he would be used like Luke Maye. Once on campus, ol Roy wanted him to be Eric Montross. Roy is so angry and stubborn that I'm amazed every time he signs a player

I know dude won a championship, but I don't know if "You could be the next Luke Maye" is the pitch I would lead with.

I'd take Kessler but I highly doubt he will be transferring to Duke, if playing time is his goal. Unless Williams goes but I doubt he does.
Williams's growth the last part of the season was impressive. He should test the waters. Assuming COVID doesn't disrupt that.

I think there's a good chance some team will promise to pick him in the guaranteed money.

Ditto for Sharpe at UNC. And possibly Bacot. Bacot actually performed better than the other 2 but I don't think people see him as having as much upside.

Teams like Duke and Carolina rely on kids loving to play there. But it's hard to love a school, coach, or program under the conditions we've seen over the last year. So many activities and interactions are cancelled or constricted. So many new rules that have nothing to do with basketball. Nothing is normal.

While I suspect most players on both teams still feel good about the school they picked, the weaker ties, coupled with being able to transfer and play immediately for another team, probably have a lot more players than usual weighing that option.

And it's not just the best guys, either. Players who aren't NBA-bound might think about it, too. More PT. A chance to learn from a different coach (especially for players who are thinking about coaching down the road). Just a change of pace.

Take a guy like Goldwire. He'll probably play for pay somewhere for a while. Does he do that now? Or does he take advantage of the extra year of eligibility? And if he decides on another year in college, does he stay at Duke or go after a new learning experience?

I'd be lying if I said I was really upset but, I can't help but feel a little bit of disappointment. You know Kessler/Sharpe vs Williams/Banchero would've been a fun as hell matchup.

I wonder if Roy lied to these recruits. That would be the only explanation because unless you’re not following college basketball, Roy favors upperclassmen more than any high profile DI program in the country. That’s a known fact that he plays his experienced players more (earned or unearned) and keep the freshmen on the bench in hopes of keeping them around longer. Guess this recruiting class isn’t buying Roy’s game plan.
College basketball has changed and unless you change with it, you will be outdated this will happen. College basketball players have more options these days. Get with the times or get left behind *shoulder shrug*

Of course he lies but he doesn't think it's a lie because he feels entitled with all the things he and his program have got away with. OFC

Rumor is Kessler will end up at Tennessee. Could also see him at Auburn with their wide open offense.

Would rather have Williams on next year's team. Kessler would be a nice consolation prize if Mark leaves.

Really don’t think even if Williams left Duke would go after Kessler.

If we lose Hurt and Williams and Baldwin does play for his daddy then we will need to add another PF or Center from the transfer portal. If Kessler is smart then he will wait until the draft deadline. Know Bacot is not happy at UNC, but will he go pro or transfer? Just don’t think he’s got the stats or playing time to get drafted. He may explore going that route but this draft is going to be filled with better PF/C.

I’m curious to see what Bacot does. Know Bacot is not happy at UNC, but will he go pro or transfer?

I was always waiting to see bacot going in on a slam dunk and getting that thing on the top of his head hung up in the net. Would they have to cut the nets down and untangle the nets or just cut the thing off the top of his head. That would have been something to see. :) OFC

Hopefully, his future plans include a new hair style. A face lift wouldn't hurt either. Just sayin.

Yeah, if he even considered transferring to Duke, pretty sure K would require him to cut that thing off his head. Can’t really do anything about him being ugly as fook.

Kessler would be a huge upgrade over Tape, not that he's coming to Duke.
Kessler would have to want to settle for coming off the bench because he wouldn’t start over Williams or Paolo.
Plus, we are talking about the same kid that was supposed to be a Duke lean, went on his official visit to UNC and committed the day after saying it felt like home and now he’s leaving .

Let's hope Brakefield and Coleman will be okay coming off the bench and starting as juniors. Baker too as far as coming off the bench next year.

You cannot be serious. These two will be recruited over for as long as they choose to stay. On the other hand, I dont suspect Coleman expected early playing time.

We may lose some too. Going to be interesting the next few weeks. How many recruits are coming in at cheater u? platek may even come back. He's one of my favorite cheater u players ever. OFC
At least we’re immuned to it lol

I am serious. Guys don't want to be the 9th man, esp. top 50 guys. Just saying it's a possability; especially with the new transfer rules. We've been lucky with this recently hopefully it continues. The rest of the ACC are losing players to this.

If I'm Brakefield I'd hit the road where I can get 30 mins a game. He is to good to be riding the pine as much as he did last year. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if he heads someplace else.

I was addressing the junior year starting projection. I'm no insider, but I'd say it's no better than 50/50 that Brakefield is around next year and Coleman needs to improve quite a bit before seeing extended floor time.

I hope Brakefield is patient as I think he could be really good by junior year. Coleman I agree may be further away from starting but I think he will improve a lot next year.
