Clown was in the D league all last year, somehow gets on the Warriors roster for the playoffs where he does absolutely nothing and gets a ring. Wowww. He even had to be embarrassed to take that ring.

I know a couple of people in my high school class that got high school class rings that didn't graduate. :D OFC

Should Sean Obi feel embarrassed? What about Jordan Davidson? Basketball is a team sport. Players fit into roles. And in professional sports it's even more applicable. Rosters change throughout the season. JMM, as little as he may have contributed on the court in the Finals, still played and accepted his role. It's nothing I'd be embarrassed about if I were fortunate to reach the very top of my profession. That's all I'm saying.

At least those guys were with/around the program all season long. McAdoo was with the Warriors for all of 15 games at the end of the season. Surprised that even qualifies you to be on a playoff roster.

While I completely agree that McAdoo had absolutely nothing to do with the title, I think it's more embarrassing that the UNC fans will claim that he's made it. They had a post a while back that said UNC basically won the NBA title because McAdoo and Barnes were on the team.

So, for me the laughing part is more the UNC fans claiming that UNC has another NBA title to brag about.

Good point

Meh, kinda a good point. Obi , to me, was part of the team , as mentioned above, he was with them and practicing with them all year. Mcadon't, not so much.

Obviously JMM didn't contribute much to the championship season, but he was still on the roster, and that should be enough to get a ring. Even players that haven't played but a few minutes in a couple of games could contribute an important basket, rebound, steal, blocked shot, or whatever that may win a crucial game.

Now that said, some players are more valuable than others. And that brings me to the point about UNC having many more players that have won NBA rings than Duke players. I hear that a lot from Heel fans.
First, I'm not really concerned with it because I value NCAA rings far more because I'm a Duke fan. A big part of getting a ring can be being at the right place at the right time, and JMM was at the right place at the right time.

But to sum it up, maybe it's fair that JMM gets a little something after he let Ol' Roy talk him out of a lottery pick following his freshman season. Yeah, thinking about it, he absolutely deserves that dang ring.

I see what you are saying show, but I think MaCadoo was stashed away in the D-League to get some burn by Golden St.

Coaches evaluate their rosters and bring up to the roster who they think best benefits the team. Obviously, JMM was viewed by Kerr as someone who benefited the Warriors enough to be there. I think accepting that ring is an honor, and he should be proud of his team and what they accomplished. I do not think embarrassment even entered his realm of thinking. JMM has done good at coming up from the D League to make a roster with such depth as the Warriors. Hopefully his development continues in an upward swing.

He has nothing to be embarrassed about. He worked hard to get where he is. No he is not the star of the team, but so what.

He did what was asked of him and was part of the team. He earned his slot and his ring.

Ahh, who cares, he knows his role. He put the work in to make it on the team and even though it was late, he still made it.

Pretty much what I was actually thinking as well.

Is it known that Obi got one? I thought that transfers who were not eligible to play did not qualify for a ring.
NCAA rule or something.

Hell, Chuck Nevitt has 3-4 rings for doing absolutely nothing.

The rule changed, therefore yes, Obi got one. It is known.
