Hell with Iowa st. Goal tending on 3 pt shot

I want people to look at UCLA's 3 pointer under a minute left. Guy pushed off high against the defender. If that is allowed, everyone can create space.

And Iowa State? Can't wait to see them in the elite 8.

Regardless of the push off, the ball was still coming down with a chance to hit the rim. I don't think it was necessarily the wrong call.

That is unbelievable. Well if our team doesnt take the first couple rounds seriously after today they never will. Craziness..best time of the year

We certainly can agree on everything said there. Haha.

Dbav I agree I think it's rigth. But wow I've never seen anything like it called.

It was a good call. Sucks, but a good call. I go back to you should not have put yourself in a position for the ref to make that call.

What people are going to forget who are complaining is ucla got the board as was going up to finish and maybe be fouled and win anyway. They were in the right position. I don't care for either team so I don't care but I did take ucla in my pool so I am ok with it.

You obviously are not watching TRU TV and the replays they are showing.

They show the replay over and over - the ball had no chance to hit the rim. It was clearly outside the rim, it was outside the cylinder, was at rim level when touched but was an airball. And the kid had to go up for it at that point because he's guarding another player.

As the commentators all agree and are noting, there's no way that ball had any shot to go in, It's wide right.

It doesn't matter what position a team is in - NCAA basketball involves close games. A bad call by a ref who is not in position to make the call is what makes it so terrible.

Young man. The tbs crew of four all say yes it would hit the rim and so did the director of officiating.. The Seth davis crew are saying no..and I disagree from replays and it would have hit the rim.. 0 chance of going in but hitting the rim yes..

They showed one replay angle a lot that made it look like a bogus call. But then a separate angle made it very clear that it was the right call. Crazy ending, but I think they got it right.

It appeared to me that the shot had no chance of going in but would have hit the rim. Unfortunate but the right call.

That's the way I saw it. Front edge of the rim. No chance.OFC

We won't be seeing Iowa St in the Elite 8 because they lost

Agree completely that the shot was not going in at al, but the call was correct based on the rules.

I do think the rules need to change though.

May have been the right call but just no way was it Goal tending. Absolute self destruction by SMU though.

What nobody is talking about is the fact that he jumped up and tried to swat the ball. It was an idiotic play that is being overshadowed by the call.

If I am a SMU fan, that is worst call in the history of all time. However, I have no feeling about each team either way. I think the refs made the call based on how the SMU defender was making a play on a ball that they felt was headed towards the rim. Look, by the rule book it was the right call. As a fan, I hated to see that game decided by that call. It just made it feel kind of dirty for some reason. But that happens. I just hope it never happens to us!

If you look closely at the play it looked like to me the ball grazed the outside of the rim nowhere even close to the cylinder before he made an attempt to rebound the ball. Either way the ball had absolutely no chance of going in. If that is the case then you could almost argue that every attempt to break up an alley-oop close to the rim is goaltending. It was a horrible shot that was unjustly rewarded to UCLA imo. SMU was hosed on that game. If it would have happened to Duke this board would have lit up like a christmas tree and everyone on this board would have wanted the refs head on a block.

Tough way for a game to end, but rules are rules. Feel sorry for the SMU kids, but not for Larry Brown. Pay back is hell is all I have to say. OFC

That would be an incredibly hard way to lose, and my feelings might be different were it Duke, but I think it was the right call.
