ACCT/Game 34 - Louisville-Duke - 8:30 p.m., 3/15

Preview nuts and bolts for tonight's game can be found below.

Programming note: I'll be there with full coverage.

Here’s what to know ahead of Saturday's championship game:

Time: 8:30 p.m.

Location: Spectrum Center, Charlotte.

TV: ESPN.

Announcers: Dave O'Brien (play-by-play), Dick Vitale and Cory Alexander (analysts) and Angel Gray (sidelines).

Series; last meeting: Duke leads 16-9; Duke won 76-65 on Dec. 8 at Louisville, the ACC opener for each team. The Blue Devils trailed by 14 in the first half because of a hot-shooting start from Louisville; Cooper Flagg had 20 points and 12 rebounds, Tyrese Proctor (13 points) and Kon Kneuppel (12) combined for 25 points.

Records: Louisville 27-6; Duke 30-3.

A win would mean: Louisville would win its first ACC championship; Duke would win its 23rd ACC championship.

Stat to watch: 15.

That was the number of turnovers Louisville had against Duke in the December matchup. Louisville committed the same number of turnovers in its win over Clemson on Friday night.

Matchup to watch: Louisville wing Terrence Edwards Jr. (No. 5) vs. Duke wing Kon Knueppel (No. 7).

Edwards draws the assignment of the opponents' best guard or wing -- not ACC defensive player of the year Chucky Hepburn -- and that has been Knueppel in Duke's two games in Charlotte. The Duke freshman has a combined 45 points on 12-for-25 shooting, with 9 rebounds, 11 assists and 6 turnovers in two games of the ACC tournament.

Cardinal to watch: Chucky Hepburn (No. 24).

He's coming off a 6-steal game and in Louisville's previous game, he hit a buzzer-beating shot to beat Stanford.

Blue Devil to watch: Tyrese Proctor (No. 5).

The numbers didn't indicate it so much, but Proctor had a great impact on Duke's win, including a crucial bucket down the stretch. He's the only player on either roster who has played in an ACC championship game in his career.

What’s on deck: Selection Sunday, with each of these teams safely in the field, is next. The bracket will be announced with a show that starts at 6 p.m. on CBS.

KenPom prediction: Duke wins 79-69.

Injury report: Duke will be without Flagg and Maliq Brown. Louisville has been without its best 3-point shooter, Reyne Smith, for the last three games.

2nd half adjustment by Coach Scheyer

Man, the real ACC COY made an adjustment in the second half that helped seal the win. Edwards was killing Duke one on one in the first half. So what does Scheyer do? He double teamed Edwards on the perimeter with a BIG forcing him to give up the ball and no one else on Louisville was a threat to score, not even Hepburn. Brilliant move by the 3rd year coach. Props are deserved!

ACCT/Game 33 - UNC-Duke - 7 p.m., 3/14

I wish I could've gotten a preview up but man, it's been a hell of a day here in Charlotte.

In lieu of a full breakdown, here are the nuts and bolts for tomorrow night:

Here’s what to know ahead of Friday night’s semifinal game:

Time: 7 p.m.

Location: Spectrum Center, Charlotte.

TV: ESPN.

Announcers: Dave O'Brien, Cory Alexander, Angel Gray.

Series; last meeting: UNC leads 145-119; Duke won 82-69 on Saturday night in Chapel Hill and swept the regular-season series.

Records: UNC 22-12; Duke 29-3.

Stat to watch: 14.

That's how many turnovers Duke had on Saturday night against UNC, though it didn't have any in the final 9 minutes as it rallied for a win.

Tar Heel to watch: RJ Davis (No. 4).

He had 20 points against Duke last weekend and 23 against Wake Forest on Thursday.

Blue Devil to watch: Mason Gillis (No. 18).

The likely replacement for Cooper Flagg in the lineup, though Isaiah Evans and Caleb Foster will probably see increases in minutes.

KenPom prediction: Duke wins 84-70.

Injury report: Obviously, Flagg and Maliq Brown both left Thursday's game in the first half. They're almost guaranteed to not play again this weekend.

ACCT/Game 32 - GT-Duke - 12 p.m., 3/13

Duke's first game in the ACC tournament will be 12 p.m. Thursday against either Georgia Tech or Virginia. Those two play in the noon game on Wednesday.

The Post Season

Ladies and Gents,

It's here. I can't believe how fast this season has flown by so far. During the summer of 2024 I saw the roster make up of The Blue Devils and I became Excited thinking about how Elite they could be Defensively and Elite they have been all season long on the Defensive End! Since the season opener against Maine, The Blue Devils have shown a Togetherness, they play for one another and support one another. This Blue Devils Team has been my favorite to watch since the 2014-2015 Duke Team. Each member on these Blue Devils Embraces their role on this team and this is why they have been successful so far. We've witnessed both the Coaching Staff and Team Evolve throughout the season.

Duke will be a #1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Imo if Duke reaches the ACC Tournament Championship Game (regardless of the result), Duke will get the East Region (Newark). I am hoping the Blue Devils reach the ACC Tournament Championship to face 1) Clemson or 2) Louisville. Duke owes Clemson some payback. Clemson is a Final 4 Darkhorse and Louisville is an Elite 8 Darkhorse. I want Duke to win the ACC Tournament, but if they lose a hard fought game in the ACC Tournament it will not be the end of the world as sometimes a hard fought loss teaches more than a blow out win.

If you are able to make it to any of Duke's post season games, then I greatly recommend you do so! It is a great time visiting with fellow Duke fans while supporting The Blue Devils. There are some really cool and genuine Duke fans throughout this country.

Season finale, curtain call.. end of RJ Davis who is now 3rd in ACC scoring all time (what a joke) anyway… Can we shut the door on the Tar Heels ncaa hope? Can we lock up the regular season crown? Can we lock up what would be the most wins in ACC regular season history? Lock up a 1 seed? Potentially be #1 Monday? Lots of story lines in what will be a fun game- we are currently a 10.5 point favorite.

I think we keep rolling-

ACC Tournament

My Brother, Buddy, and I will be attending the Thursday-Saturday sessions in Charlotte.

What are some places that are musts to pre game or post game at near the Hornets stadium? Also, which restaurants would you recommend near the stadium?

If any of you are going, I would love to meet up and buy you a round or two while talking basketball.

Happy Sunday All!

Jai Lucas to Miami

It's done and obviously has been for a couple of weeks. The official announcement is all that we're left waiting on, now.

ESPN is reporting Jai is leaving the staff after Saturday night's game. I've reached out to several people to try to confirm but have little reason to doubt their reporting.

I'll wear egg on face, here. I just didn't think he'd leave with Duke having a chance to win a national championship. That chance remains, obviously -- but Duke is a better defensive team with Jai on its bench than without him.

In season OT thread. Street performers.

I am up late at least 3 nights a week and fall into many youtube rabbit holes. I have become a huge fan of Allie Sherlock. She started when she was 11. She lost her mother when she was 9. So this is pretty special.

She has so many good ones. This is one of my favorites.

I can listen to her all day. We are going to Ireland in the spring of 2026. Hopefully she is still busking.
