Official game day thread- Duke Vs Dartmouth

Here we go!!

🏀 Game number 1
🕘 9pm on ACCN
📍 Cameron Indoor stadium
The older I get (33) the shorter these off seasons feel. Which is fine by me cuz I’m ready for some DUKE BASKETBALL. We come into year 2 for Coach S as hyped as we can be.. and for good reason. We return a plethora of talent that would make any fan drool. We may not be ranked Number 1 but don’t be confused, the college basketball world knows this is Dukes season.

Dartmouth of the Ivy League (predicted to finish 7th out of 8 teams) is coming into Cameron fresh off the heels of a 10-18 season. Coached by David McLaughlin who
Is entering his 7th year on the sidelines. Prior to Dartmouth he was the associate head coach and recruiting coordinator at Northeastern University. Prior to that he was the head coach at Division II Stonehill College where he made two final fours. Assistant coach Josh Einhorn is the only coach on staff that has any ACC experience.Josh was a student manager at Pitt until he graduated in 2016. He was later at BC as a Grad Assistant before joining the staff.
Fun fact, assistant coach Braeden Estes spent 10 days in Dubai working as a coach at the Mason Plumlee Basketball Camp.

Duke should run away with this one rather quickly.. I want to see no let down and the drum for us being Great get louder and louder.

Late game last night. Dartmouth showed some fight but we were just too overwhelmingly talented for them. Loved seeing Scheyer jawing with the refs, it was something we just did not see much from him last year and we really ended up getting screwed in a couple of games because of it - IMO.

I should be consistent at putting these up this year - no health issues and I am not a family caregiver anymore.

Anyway - who gets the Game ball?

Rest In Peace Bob Knight

This is sad for me.

I was a sort of Duke fan from the 78 team. But what really made me a diehard fan was when Coach K went there and that was because I had so much respect for the way Knight coached basketball - man to man defense, motion offense, discipline, didn't need the best players to win.

I know Knight went haywire in many ways but I still had a fondness for him in spite of his flaws. He did a lot of good for a lot of people and players. And he was such a huge influence on our great coach who made Duke what it is today. I'm sure Coach is saddened as well. (I have faith in these kinds of things - I have my own personal views of eternal life that I won't go into).

Rest in Peace, Coach Knight. You were a legend and huge influence.

Wake Forest-Duke | 7:30 p.m. Thursday

Getting this thread up a day early because I've got some programming news ...

I had a death in my family and am headed out of town today. I'm fine, it wasn't sudden; but I need to go be with my family for a few days.

Will do what I can remotely to preview Thursday night's game. Don't really know how much content that entails, though.

I'm hoping to make it back to NC for the game on Thursday night. Just don't know how the timing is going to work out, though.

AJ Dybantsa

With him reclassifying from 2026 to 2025, will be interesting to see how quickly we ramp up his recruitment. Conversations between him and the Duke staff have ramped up with news of his reclassification. I wonder if by us recruiting AJ, Peat, Meleek Thomas, Caleb Wilson, and Jalen Haralson at full tilt could put pressure on Cameron & Cayden Boozer to make a decision earlier vs playing this game that they’re doing now by discussing every potential college choice not named Duke.

The 2025 class is absolutely loaded at SF, PF, SG. It’s thin at PG and very thin at Center. It’s pretty clear that we recruit and get to the NBA more forwards than any other school. We’re not taking a PG in the 2024 class to my knowledge, as the assumption is Foster will come back for his Sophomore year. We will need to get a transfer portal PG; start recruiting a 2025 PG; or take a combo guard like Meleek Thomas that you think can handle the position.
