Sense it's Duke UNC game day again I thought maybe some stories about encounter with UNC fans would be interesting.

The story I am going to share has already been posted on another thread but for those who missed it I will use it here.

I grew up in the small town of Elon College N.C. now just Elon. That is where Eon University a member of the CAA conference is located. I live within 5 miles of the campus and am a supporter of the school except when they play Duke which they do in several sports. I've known coaches, have friends that played football, basketball and baseball. A good friend of mine was a NAIA basketball All-American (Tommy Cole) in 1972. So Elon is special to me. A few years ago Elon was to play UNC in baseball at Elon. When I left the house I grabbed the first baseball cap I put my hand on which happened to be a Duke cap . Although it was being played at Elon the cowd was probably 75% UNC as a sea of wussy blue covered the ball park. This is Tar Heel Country so I wasn't surprised. As I was entering the ball park I saw a woman coming toward me. She was going out of the way to meet me for sure with her assumed husband following close behind. . She was dressed from head to toe in UNC gear and no doubt was a wine a cheeser. She walks right up to within a foot of my face and I remember her exact words "Duke's not playing here today" with a sour look on her face. I just simply replied "yes but Elon is. GO PHOENIX." She looked at me for a moment still with that sour look on her face, whirled around and walked off with her husband who didn't say a word obediently following behind. By the way Elon won that day which made my day and I looked for her as I walked out but was lost in a sea of wussy blue. This woman really did not understand why everyone is not a Tar Heel fan. She was in her own world.

I went in for surgery on my left knee. Right before I went under, my Dr. said he graduated from UNC. I crapped myself in fear just as I fell asleep. I woke up to find out he had performed surgery on my right elbow. It was a huge sigh of relief. I considered it a success given that I had all of my limbs after a Dr. that "attended classes" at UNC performed a surgery.

I did sue him for failure to give informed consent. All UNC graduates should be required to inform all of their patients/customers where they went to college so we know of the heightened risks involved with interacting with them.

A painting contractor was speaking with a woman about her job.

In the first room, she said she would like a pale blue.

The contractor wrote this down and went to the window, opened it, and yelled out "green side up!"

In the second room, she told the painter she would like it painted in a soft yellow.

He wrote this on his pad, walked to the window, opened it, and yelled "green side up!"

The lady was somewhat curious, but she said nothing.

In the third room, she said she would like it painted a warm rose color.

The painter wrote this down, walked to the window, opened it and yelled "green side up!"

The lady then asked him, "Why do you keep yelling 'green side up'?"

"I'm sorry," came the reply. "But I have a crew of UNC graduates laying sod across the street."

Back in 2010 after we had won the national championship. I ran into a man who use to work with me. He is probably the most insufferable carolina fan that I have ever met. Anyway, I was walking toward him and his wife and I had a 2010 championship shirt on. He walked right up to me and spit in my face. He immediately started laughing and apologized saying that he had meant to spit on my shirt. I guess that was suppose to make it better some how. I've had other bad experiences, some possibly worse, however, that was disgusting and really I will never forget that.

Good story. I no doubt believed that happened . If anyone deserved a right cross he did. He probably didn't see a thing wrong with what he done. Need more stories guys. OFC

Disgusting, but par for the course with that fan base. I was at the LeHigh game where UNC played right before Duke. The UNC fans were insufferable there too. None as ballsy as the guy you mentioned, but insufferable nonetheless.

Just about all of them.

Honestly, most of the UNCheat fans around here are neutrals that root for them. I can't stand their blabber.

About 10 years ago, I was picking up some stuff at Walmart, when I was verbally assaulted by a UNC fan. I was wearing my Duke hat and tank top, when this idiot just starts cussing me out for being a Duke fan. I just sat there laughing at his stupid @$$ while all of these people where looking like, WTF is going on. I kept my cool and just told him to get a life and walked on. I wanted to beat his @$$ so bad, but I felt sorry for him. I mean who does that? How pitiful of a life do you have to have, to cuss a total stranger out in Walmart? Thank God that I'm a Duke fan!

Who does that you ask. UNC fans do that. You did the right thing. OFC

The only reason it was the right thing, was because I didn't want to go to jail for beating on a mentally challenged person!

Had a few "encounters" with Tar Heel coeds while at Duke. I have nothing negative to say. Nothing at all.
OFC

I know several Duke men that married Tarheel women. I do not know of the reverse happening.

Thankfully nothing too inappropriate. The worst I've had to experience was in a sports bar during 82-50, the guys behind me were getting seriously peed off and were cussing a hurricane up about how we cheat and don't even play the game right. If I wasn't a member of Gods church and I had been in the right mood, I know that situation could have escalated.

I've had a guy on facebook seriously debate me about how duke won that title shortly after we had that we only did because we bent the rules to our favor.

When I was in high school, we had a bet that whoever lost the game had to put the other teams shirt on. I lost and stood up on a chair in the middle of the lunch room and cheered for UNC. We did it again and duke won, he wore it during lunch, but come to find out as soon as he left he took it off, unlike me who kept his side and wore it the whole day. That was about 8 years ago (oh time where have you gone)

So nothing big. But still, when you live in NC, you truly understand and feel what this game means.

I don't have an unbelievably bad experience in particular. But quite a few times where you just shake your head. I like it when I hold the door open for someone and they notice my Duke hat and refuse to go through because they won't let a Duke fan open the door for them.

I am not sure if it is like this where you guys are, but here in the ILM the majority of the people who claim to be uNC fans don't even watch the games. They were just trained to hate Duke.

One of my best friends growing up was a UNC fan. We would watch all the games together and it always got heated. We actually got into a fight after the bloody Montross game. Not sure what it was about but we needed to be separated after a few blows were exchanged. My buddy is not longer with us and I wish he was here so we could scrap again.

For me I'd have to say it was this time when I was a staffer for this summer camp. Most of the staff went to Carowhina so I had to tread lightly. One of the nights during that week, I heard about JJ's DUI from one of the UNC people because they just saw it online. So I was the only Duke fan at a table with maybe 5 UNC fans, and they just told me that JJ got a DUI. It sucked, but I reminded them of Ed Cota and how the Crazies held up pictures of his mug shot when he came to Cameron. The funny thing was, all but one of the UNC fans said, "Ed WHO?". They had know idea who Ed Cota was or what he had done.

I was mildly satisfied knowing that I was a better fan than they were.

That SOB would have taken a "nap" on the spot.

He is a 70 something year old man with a heart condition and he has also dealt with cancer twice. Look, I wanted to lay him out, however, I would also like to make it to heaven one day, so......
wink.r191677.gif
Man, he is one of these people that even fellow Carolina fans want to distance themselves from him. Total classless loser who I hate has went through what he has went through. Having said that, he is a miserable SOB. I have several other stories detailing his "wonderful" behavior.

Nothing terrible because of the upstate ny location but when my son was young he said " why when we beat them we don't say a lot. Just that it was a good game but when they win their fans call us email us say we suck etc. I just answered because we're not a$$ holes

Last year at the NCAA Tourney after the Mercer had a drunk UNC fan (wearing a Unc shirt) come up to me and yell Duke f***ing sucks at my face and I looked at him and said you love Duke so much you bought tickets to watch them when your team is in Texas.

I live in Atlanta now, so I could basically run asked through the produce section at the grocery store with body painted in Duke blue with giant D on my chest and nobody would notice. It's all SEC football down here.

I was in NC couple years ago for a WSOP Circuit Poker Event and put on my Lucky Duke button-up Shooting Jersey to play poker in. On the short 10 min walk from my room to the poker room through the casino, 3 out of every 4 would comment on my attire. It was hilarious because I had forgotten the level of fandom that was still in NC. It was either "Duke Sucks" or "Go Duke!".

Pretty entertaining -

I'm glad you started this topic skysdad because my worst experienced with a Tarheel fan actually happened at the game last night. Of course I wore my Duke hat and shirt and this prick sitting beside me noticed that real quick and made it a point to make the game miserable for me. While the senior night ceremony was going on before the game he looked straight at me and said "I don't guess Sulaimon will get to partake in senior night will he?" I didn't say a word. Every time the Heels would score he would scream in my ear and purposely jump into me. I found out quick that I was going to have to sit quietly and not even cheer for my team. He dropped F bombs all night and was simply the rudest fan I have ever seen. I knew there was bad blood but I didn't realize how much hatred some fans have. Some of you did warn me before the game. I'm just glad we got the last laugh!

Jesus man, that guy sounds like a complete douche. What did he say when the final horn went off?

You know I mentioned to you what might happen. They feel just like my experience with wussy blue wine and cheese lady that every one is a Tar Heel fan and it took a lot of nerve for you to show up there last night. Now it's just fine for them to come to CIS and cheer on the Heels but don't you dare come to Chapel hill and pull for Duke. It's called entitlement and they have no clue. OFC

I've gotten to the point to where I'm having a discussion with a Tar Heel fan and when they start the refs were bad or everyone does it I just say " you're right. You guys got screwed and you are the only ones that get ever get caught. That usually ends the discussion because they don't know how to reply. OFC

That sounds about right. I'm also in upstate New York. I may have a different perspective than some because I'm an alum, but watching people run their mouths around here who have never been to either school and cheer for UNCheat for no real reason just makes me laugh. Especially because they are usually tools.

I've experienced so many negative interactions with the tarhole nation , I could start a separate thread just to enumerate 'em all. I'll just say this. I've never seen another fanbase in any sport go outta their way to be arseholes the way they do. I've never felt the need to confront a perfect stranger just because he/she was wearin' unx gear. Them? They do it all the time. I don't get that. Seriously. What's the point?

Yeah I cannot wear my Duke gear anywhere without being hassled all the time. It has become such a normalcy though that I am now accustomed to being attacked at some point during the day when I am wearing the gear.

[/QUOTE]He was the biggest douche I have ever been around in my life by far! Oh he wasn't there when the final horn sounded. He left with his tail tucked with about 1 minute left in the game and didn't say a word.

I had no idea it was going to be that bad. If I get the chance to go again I will definitely go but this time I will dress neutral and cheer to myself. It's not worth having to deal with that kind of immaturity.

I have had a few come up to me but never too over the top. But I just talk Sh!t back to em and they can see that I won't put up with any Sh!t what so ever and then they cool it down.Though I have had Duke stickers ripped off of my car. I have had a Duke license plate and the surrounding border kicked and broken on one of my cars. I have UNC fans that live in my subdivision and I have had my Duke mailbox cover ripped off and torn to shreds left laying on my lawn. Is it them who did it? I don't know but if I was a betting man I would say so. I have been walking down the street and had drive by insults of how Duke sucks and what not, and personal insults to me as well but they lacked the sack to stop the car and step to me. That tells me pretty much everything I need to know about them.

Went to Duke-UNC last year and got stuck in CH when snow cancelled game. Walked in bar & felt all eyes turn on me. Group of UNC grad students got boisterous with graphic language and came right over to me. My brother was on call outside and moment he came in they shut up. My bro is 6'4" 275.

Duke-UNC 2011 ACCT Final was tense atmosphere. Before tipoff I saw quite a few UNC people go after Duke fans but Heel fans were dead silent walking out of G'boro Coliseum.

Usually 82-50 shuts them up. Or Mahktar Ndiaye. Thankfully I live in Utah now so I don't have to hear that crap. Growing up though I had quite a few kids in my High School always hassle me about it. The best part was beating them and showing up in Duke gear and just waiting on what they would say next.

Im sure my dad has told the story..doesn't relate to tar heel fans too much, but when I was younger Vince Carter Antwaan Jamison and Dante Calabera visited my high school. All the tar heels fans were goin up to them to get their autographs. I remember walking up to Calabera with my duke hat on..pulled it down to show him and said Duke #1...everyone looked at me like I shot their best friend. Dante just laughed.

UNC fans are bigger in numbers....just like UK fans.

I've never had really "bad" experiences. There was an obnoxious UNC fan down in Maui a few years ago at the Invitational that every day made it a point to be an a-hole to Duke fans by the pool. We all pretty much laughed at him and he was kind of the butt of our jokes. Then in 2006 in Greensboro at the ACCT they were obnoxious....of course, that was less than a week after they came into our place and beat us on J.J.'s senior. They cheered loudly for Wake to beat us in the semis (they didn't) but kind of took offense when a few if us Duke fans were openly cheering for BC to beat them in the next game.
