I didn't want to mention any prior to the game because I didn't want to jinx them!
During the season I wear a shirt for every stretch of wins. If they lose, that shirt is banned for the rest of the season and I pick a new one.
Due to the ACC tourney loss I needed to start fresh for the tourney. During the 2010 run I wore the same blue shirt with simple DUKE across the front in white for all 6 games. It is now framed in my office.
So what better time than to break out my new and never worn 1K shirt for this year. Wore it for the first 3 games, then we were at the Nike Employee Store in Portland and I picked up a new shirt and Elite jacket. Against my best judgement I wore them during the Gonzaga win.
I packed them for Indy and wore them to the Final Four game with jeans.
So last night, I donned the same shirt, jacket, jeans and added my Final Four hat I got in Indy.
Also made my wife and parents wear the same shirts for every game, without washing!
Then last night as Duke gets down 9, my wife gets nervous and starts cleaning, doing laundry, not watching the game. As Duke comes back and goes ahead she refuses to come back in the room and I yell updates to her.
Finally in the last minute I tell her to come watch so we can celebrate.
We then go back and watch the last 6 minutes of the game together.
Also, when Grayson started the come back I had my hands in my pocket and pulled out my receipt from the hat I bought in Indy so I clutched it for the remainder of the game. Told my wife I needed to frame it, she thought that was a bit much!
