Huff and Hauser are both 3-4 from beyond the arc. Game was 36 all when I turned it on and a few minutes later it was 52-36 Wahoos.
‘No one is beating UVA in ACC tournament if they play like this. Great defense and great offensive sets.
‘Yet to see a UVA turnover.

Huff is the X factor. He is a great shooter. Almost impossible to guard a 7'1" man who shoots 45% from 3 and 87% from the line. His only problem is that he is too unselfish

Not surprised. They utilize a defensive strategy that has unequivocally been proven effective, year after year.

I couldn't care less about style points, I care about results. And Bennett just keeps getting the ****ing job done.

Coach K is the greatest coach in college basketball history, in terms of his career accomplishments. I absolutely believe that.

But right now, at this point in time, Bennett is the best coach in the league.

Since it is obviously not going to be Duke, UVa would be a good choice. My wife is from Va , so i am forced to pull for them at times anyhow. Go yahoos. I alway say it this way to piss my wife off.

Guess how many 5-stars UVA has had since 2016? Answer is 0, none. Gonzaga has had 1. I do not think UVA has had any one and dones. Yet they keep on winning impressively. Sliced up the Cheaters like a honey-baked ham. This tells me a couple of things. One, Bennett and Few are coaching better than anybody right now. Two, you do not need OAD's to win consistently. And, three, an argument can be made that in the long run your program may develop more effectively without them.

Does Va. have a specific strategy? Do they specifically target guys 50-150 and transfers, etc? I'm curious. Or is Bennett just that good a coach? I know they lost to a 16 seed but they've made up for it since then.

Bennett is that good. He coaches a system, and he and his staff find guys that fit what they do there. It’s not about glitz and glamour, or how many guys they put in the NBA. His teams typically get better as the year goes along too, which is not what we’ve seen out of Duke in the last several seasons. That’s the sign of a good coach.

The one area where he is more fortunate than K is exposure. I think if Huff played at Duke, he would have jumped to the nba. That kid is a beast.

No, they go after the top guys every year. That’s why, man I’m curious what he could do actually getting some of them

Couple of posts up touches on it.... how many of the UVA players did we compete to get for our program? Looking at 2021 class there are no names on there I see mentioned here. Huff/Hauser were very effective yesterday and overall UVA was very disciplined on both ends of the court. It was good to see more old school vs new age basketball. Maybe you don't have to get highly ranked classes to be successful...as UVA/Gonzaga are proving the last few years. The key may be blending and then developing the talent

UVA’s championship team had 2 first round picks (including Hunter at #4) and a second round pick. There’s no substitute for talent.

This. Without DeAndre Hunter, (hurt before the tournament), UVA lost in the first round to a #16 seed one year prior with essentially the same group. UVA doesn't win jack squat in 2019 without Hunter. Talent does make a difference. Experienced talent, even more.

I dont think its an argument about talent...its about talent + development + maturity...that pipeline to success seems to be serving UVA well and others...vs the continual churn of young elite talent which has limited success. There is no golden formula, however, results do indicate a trend...and recent national champions had maturity at key positions

Glad we got to see guys like Zion in a Duke uniform.

Remember when he dunked on Huff?
Huff always had the skill. Took him until age 23 to produce consistently. Is that player development or physical maturity?

The way I see it this continual reload every year is Ks best chance at another title given his age and the way Cbb is headed. I mean are you gonna develop a bunch of players for 3 or so years for 1 shot 1 year in a tourney where you need a little luck to win it all anyway....and on top of that not having guys leave early with the exposer you get at Duke. It’s tough. And if you talk about a blend it’s even tougher. How do you recruit that lol: If you could get exactly who you want every year it be a cake walk but that’s not the case....

Saw on another board that Virginia is 103-2 when they've held opponents under 50 points under Bennett.

Mind boggling that they've held 105 opponents under 50 points.

If one of a coach's primary responsibilities is to utilize strategies that put his players in the best position to have success... well, very few are doing that better than Bennett.

I love Bennett and Few as coaches. I think both of those guys are Class Act Men and do a great job of making their teams into strong championship contenders with their coaching philosophies every season for the past 7 seasons. I would also like to add Jay Wright to that list too though and he’s been getting a lot of NBA talent in his system.

No one said that UVA did not have talent. Those guys were not projected first round picks coming out of high school. Bennett developed them into first round picks. They were not OAD's, by the way. The fact that they were first round picks is a product of Bennett's coaching to some extent.

Guy was a 5* (McDonald’s AA). Hunter (#2 recruit in PA) and Jerome (#3 recruit in NY) were 4*. Hunter had pro written all over him when he got to UVA. Could have been first round pick after freshman year, but chose to return.

Guy, Jerome, and Hunter were all 4 stars. Hunter redshirted his freshman year, if I’m not mistaken. Huff did too, and has developed into a really good player.

The point remains that shouldn’t even be debated, that over the last 7 seasons, Bennett is doing an outstanding job bringing in talent to fit his style, and the longer they are with him, the better they get.

Guy was a 4* according to both Rivals and 247. That was in 2016. OFC.

An FSU team hitting on all cylinders is a scary proposition...no matter who ( hoo) you are....if they find the consistency they can make a deep run.

FSU did not allow UVA to make them play the Wahoo's game. We got to beat WF 1st and take notes on the FSU/UVA game. OFC
