The New Lounge

Too much of just about anything is bad for your mental health...kids today are attached to cellphones like a ball and chain and many severely lack social skills and the ability to pick up on cues and body language...watch a group of kids nowadays...they barely talk to oneanother when with eachother

So you’re saying that social media only became harmful to children after the schools reopened?
lol What have I told you about starting sentences w/ "So you're saying..."?

The teachers' unions you're so willing to claim don't care about kids' well-being were advocating for keeping schools shut when, exactly? 2023? 2022? When? Because citing a study from 2024 to criticize how people made decisions under once-in-a-lifetime circumstances back in 2020 & 2021 is disingenuous.

Ya but if she’s gonna be the next Kamala she needs to learn some self restraint.
Why? According to conservatives here, Kamala is dumber and more incompetent than President Biden, the worst President of all time by far, like many, many times as bad as Presidents Buchanan, A Johnson, Fillmore, Pierce, Hoover, Harding, Wilson, Nixon, and Carter.

Has anyone seen Designated Survivor with K Sutherland? The first two seasons were well done, left leaning but not offensively so.
Then we get to Season 3 when it moved from network tv to Netflix.
In the first few episodes alone, a leading couple split up because he wasn’t “Latino enough”, one dude sodomized another, and the President’s “sister” in law, whom we’ve never heard of or seen, is a trans. Not nearly as butch as say Leah Thomas. There’s some household debate as to whether she is really a he or not, referring to the actor involved. This is the kind of agenda- driven storytelling that America is sick af of. And oh yeh, almost forgot, white supremacists have concocted an air borne virus that kills red birds and Black people. It’s complicated.

Kamala went to a much better law school ( Berkeley) than Joe but between quotas and Joes dad greasing the wheels there is no telling what their LSAT scores were if they even had it way back when. Joe prob paid someone to take it for him if they did, Derek Rose style

I wonder if datt is as offended by the fat shaming as he is the homophonic (limp wrist) comment or the allusion of mental illness.

The study was likely commissioned as a response to those very decisions. Regardless of what the studies reveal about the impact of social media, the kids were socially isolated due to the school shutdowns. Whether they spent their excessive free time watching tv, playing on their phone or kicking rocks at squirrels they lacked the requisite social interaction for healthy emotional development

My wife and I watched it. We were shocked about how different season 3 was. You talk about ruining a show. I didn’t know the term topper. Now when I see two gay men, I’ll ask my wife which one she thinks is the topper. She just rolls her eyes.

It's been a minute. I agree that the 3rd season dropped off in quality. I don't associate it with those agenda storylines, but then, those issues don't really bother me. I don't get all perturbed and worked up in my fee-fees like conservatives do by representation. However, perhaps forcing those storylines is what caused the drop off.

And I definitely see how that looks like a liberal political agenda. I won't argue otherwise. I will say that I suspect the writers' room was asking the question "what issues will make this interesting?" as opposed to "what morals do we want to teach viewers?" Still room for, and legitimacy in calling it a political agenda, but not quite as nefarious as conservatives typically make it out to be.

Don't tell me why it was "likely" commissioned w/o receipts.
No doubt there has been major trauma for kids. I see it every day. I'd already been in public education 24 years when we went into lockdown in March of 2020 and until that point, I had never gone along with the narratives about how "kids today are different, blah, blah, blah." Yeah, styles change, slang changes, access to the Internet and smart phones changes stuff... but developmentally, kids were the same, from 1996 through 2020. Covid changed that. And it still hasn't found its equilibrium. I'm very disappointed that we didn't take advantage of everything being upside down to fix things that are really wrong with the system. We went back to what was familiar when we could have made meaningful changes. But I digress...

Had we gone back sooner, some additional kids surely would have died, and more would have been carriers that resulted in many more deaths for older family members. And people would be second-guessing that decision without considering the damage of social isolation. That's speculative, of course, because that's not what happened, so we're second-guessing what we did do instead. Like I said a page or so ago, there were no good choices. People made the least harmful choices they could based on what they knew at the time.

The speculation in your second paragraph has no basis in fact or scientific study but is merely reflective of your hope that schools did the right thing in prolonging shutdowns
Most Southern schools handled it well given the societal panic involved and how much we didn’t know. By fall of 20, schools should have been open and most prob were except the liberal cesspools of CA, NY, and ILL

Children were neither badly affected by Covid nor did they act as vectors for the disease. Read article about Sweden above

If these outlets covered news like this, then they'd basically be admitting it's a good thing. And we know they can't. I bet @Dattier doesn't even know these gang members have been being sent elsewhere.
The media is presenting it as Trump rounding up random illegals at their gardening or construction jobs, who have been law abiding citizens, the salt of the earth types. We knew this would be the way they played it however. The msm is nothing if not predictable
Those examples above are the last people he should be deporting. They’re future Republicans

So you're right that it is just as trashy when Trump mocks/insults people. But then you went on to legitimize her terrible attempt to deny what she meant. Come on man. Be better.
I dont believe she was purposely trying to disparage the governor....thus my stance is what i have said.....im not here believing she was purposeful and lying about it here defending her....until she shows otherwise, i w/ this on this issue...........so what about the Signal messages and not just owning the mistake and keep it moving?

This is why I never give an inch. You don't know the meaning of the word grace. You'd rather believe that teachers and teacher unions deliberately did the opposite of what they knew was best for kids. I said this yesterday, repeated it, and even drew attention to your not addressing it.

1. "Although younger children had lower viral loads than teens and adults, they were most likely to transmit COVID-19 in their household."

2. "Among all inferred household transmissions, 27 300 (70.4%) started with a pediatric index case but this proportion fluctuated weekly between a low of 36.9% and a high of 87.5%" & "Pediatric transmission was heightened when school was in session and when community levels of COVID-19 were lower, suggesting a role of school attendance in the spread of viruses during the pandemic."

3. "Notwithstanding low participation, the study confirmed that the interventions put into place in the 2020–21 school year prior to spread of the omicron variant reduced SARS-CoV-2 secondary attack rates that were previously reported for influenza and scarlet fever. These interventions likely rendered additional bubble quarantine unnecessary."

4. "We still do not understand the true incidence of Covid-19 infection in children due to the lack of widespread testing and prioritization of tests for adults or those with severe illness. But we now have the data to demonstrate that children can spread Covid-19 and other variants as efficiently as adults and the public health policies should follow."

Put up or shut up.

Your second and fourth links were inaccessible.
The ones that actually worked are the AMA and the Lancet, not exactly impartial arbiters in the Covid fiasco
Nothing screams impartiality re: “Covid research” louder than the AMA
Are you trying to be funny, keyboard warrior?

He was reportedly in the UK from the age of 3 onward. 14 years later he murdered someone. What does that have to do with immigration?
They also changed the murderer's age from 17 to 13. What of it?
The British media, especially the BBC, is constantly downplaying crime in immigrant communities as well as ignoring altogether the fact that 45% of Muslim immigrants are unemployed and on the dole. That’s what it has to do with it. It’s a pattern of deception and manipulation.

Is Reuters an acceptable source? It's considered as unbiased as possible and has high credibility, but I've been dismissed for linking it on the basis that it's msm.
Only you would claim that Reuters has high credibility. The death totals used in the Israel- Hamas war are taken directly from the Gaza Health Ministry, run by Hamas, without question or investigation.
Included in these deaths: natural deaths, terrorists, those who harbor terrorists, those “civilians” killed with weapons still attached to their person.
Reuters is donzo
