The New Lounge

I’m not a fan of the USA Today, but here is a far more balanced take from a 4th grade reading level.
A few things of note:
1. Let’s get it out there first that I am not inherently opposed to President Trump’s action here.
2. On the face of it, situations where people are paid less than minimum wage should raise red flags. It warrants concern.
3. The article you posted has a single GOP Rep as its only cited source. That means we get nothing but his political take on it. It’s not necessarily invalid, but that’s not good journalism.
4. The article I shared also sucks, imo, but it points out that among the people opposing these workplaces are disability advocates and families of the disabled. Your article says simply “the left.” Mine points out that even among those affected there are differing opinions.
5. When it says “less than minimum wage, let’s be very clear: it’s less than half of minimum wage for some. $3.50, to be exact.
6. This is not an open and shut case of awesome or awful. Like I said in 2, it warrants concern, and I’ll add, monitoring. The $3.50 example I cited above was at a nonprofit, for example. That’s more understandable to me. If it were some place where stockholders and a CEO were raking in big bucks, that would feel much more exploitative.
7. This is also an example of the vetting I keep urging y’all to do with news media, and an example of how I’m not a hypocrite about it.

So really, my major issue with this is your use of such a crap source. Here endeth the lesson.
You eat corn-on-cob long
ways, don't you?

We were told that we had to pass a "bipartisan" bill that put a cap of 5,000 immigrants/day and gave Amnesty to people who illegally came into our country in order to control our border.

It’s nice to see a President actually doing things that he campaigned on. Trump is also the most transparent president that we’ve ever had. It’s been a nice change.

I've had the opportunity this week to see students try to handle money and basic financial transactions. They sure know how to use various apps to pay with their phones, but a whole bunch of them seem to think cash works the same way, where the cashier says, "That'll be $24.79" and they can hand over wadded up bills totaling $14 like that'll cover it. 🤣

Maybe this is yet another example of how out-of-touch liberal elites think counting is important while President Trump really knows what time it is and eliminates the penny. 🤷‍♂️

Yeah and my MIL who is 87 got $750 for her damages. Really, really pisses me off. The Biden crooks should rot

For your next experiment, ask them who the old white dudes are on the currency and why they’re important, and report back to us.

Datt and the corrupticrats assured us that this was just the beginning The rest of the checks must have gotten lost in the mail or perhaps were hijacked by a MAGA militia at the Post Office.
My condolences for what your MIL has been through.

Datt’s agenda:
1. Make it personal so he doesn’t
have to address why FEMA so pathetically failed the citizens of WNC

You were on this very message board not long ago stating that more help was on the way. Testimony after testimony indicates that more help has not arrived. Although it’s a Leftist’s knee jerk reaction to defend bureaucracy at every turn, here you are. Diverting, insulting, pretending you’re on some moral high ground.

It shouldn’t matter what party you’re aligned with, it should be about putting American citizens first always. The Democratic leadership did not do that. Let’s spend millions on putting them in hotels while US citizens are struggling to stay warm and have paid taxes their whole lives. Datt, can you justify this?

Receipt on the bold?
I don't work for FEMA.
How personal did *I* really "make" it when you brought my name up first insinuating I have any responsibility for FEMA's response?

I can't justify or verify your version of it, and why am I supposed to justify even a revised version of this? If y'all would diversify your news sources and vet your news sources like I'm always recommending, you'd already have reasonable explanations. Instead y'all want to read propaganda, then demand that I defend the reality as you dictate it.

And can that "shouldn't matter what party" crap. You couldn't even skip a sentence before blaming Democratic leadership, and as long as people are locked into limited, hyper-biased media based on political party, we're not even starting from the same basic reality.

Oh, having currency with old white dudes on it would be a hate crime in public schools. Students are required to exchange all money with old white dudes on it for tokens featuring Marsha P Johnson, Assata Shakur, and Kathy Griffin.

“Read propaganda”.
Your constant dismissal of inconvenient facts as propaganda has become irksome. 91 has provided a second hand account of one person’s account of the disaster efforts or lack thereof, which is entirely consistent with what we’ve heard from dozens possibly hundreds of citizens by now.
The fact that your preferred, “ thoroughly vetted” News sources moved on from this story as fast as possible should surprise no one.
Datt’s posts in a nutshell: It’s never his side’s fault. It’s our fault for falling for propaganda. This limited, echo chamber mindset is why the Dems are adrift at sea right now.

Being an amateur numismatist myself, I’ll have to get my hands on those. Kathy Griffin was funny on that Seinfeld episode when she became Jerry’s heckler/ nemesis.
No idea who the other two. Marsha Johnson? Is that Whoopi’s birth name before she changed it because she farts a lot and the Jews control Hollywood? Voila, meet Whoopi Goldberg

Sounds like their teachers are failing them.

We're just going in circles here. I don't dismiss inconvenient facts. I dismiss propaganda. I've expressed condolences for the second-hand account stated here. I do not doubt its accuracy, but single stories are anecdotal. It takes a lot more individual stories than a 3-minute news segment can cover to start approaching anything statistically significant.

I don't work for FEMA. I don't know what they should be responsible for.

Sure, "my side" has screwed up plenty and to the extent that "my side" equates to "Democratic Party," it is indeed adrift. I would ask you whether they've ever ever ever done anything right. Why would I make a habit of admitting to any mistakes when everything here is in bad faith?

It is indeed your fault for falling for propaganda, especially when you get called on it constantly and never change a thing. My being here in the first place is evidence that I step outside my echo chamber. What evidence do you have of that for yourself?

You haven’t called me on anything. You claim that our sole influence is “ right wing propaganda”. Just a few days I provided evidence of UNRWA’s involvement on Oct 7. On UNRWA’s own website. So you keep singing the same tune, but you’re too oblivious to recognize that the song’s changed.
If Fox News covers a story you automatically claim it is right wing propaganda. Implying that it is not factually correct.
I recognize that, although the Legacy media spins heavily in favor of the Dems, that there are not always factual inaccuracies involved, therefore Not propaganda.

I guess you don't have to acknowledge being called out in order for it to count.

You spun what the UN said. I've already called you on that, too.

I've acknowledged here that Fox News has a high standard for journalism, just like CNN and several other msm. Bias is a separate issue. Next time you acknowledge anything you don't like as accurate will be the first.

Their names are hyperlinked so you can go get triggered.

I repeated verbatim what the UN said. You spun it to mean that they fired the employees to avoid even the slightest appearance of impropriety, “hint of scandal” as you inartfully put it, conveniently ignoring the fact that the fired employees were caught on video. The UN is widely seen as antisemitic, so they’re not gonna surrender the last vestiges of their dwindling credibility by admitting culpability. Also, there are likely legal reasons to submit a vague statement. You lost that argument, that the likelihood of UNRWA being involved on Oct 7 was not high, and that their involvement was strictly discussed on “right wing propaganda”. Your catch all dismissal of all things conflicting with your world view.
You should also research what your beloved “Palestinians” are being taught in UNRWA schools. Might help you understand the current conflict better.
