From that kids movie “Return of the Jedi?“ I laughed because a) it is a Star Wars joke used in a way Ive never seen and I love Star Wars, and B) because Trump as a fat slob leader of a criminal family with a woman who is disgusted by him yet is unwillingly tied to him is amusingly appropriate. I know this keeps coming up... and don’t love that it is one of Trumps own people and a die hard conservative saying it... but I just don’t see this happening. This is a great post and one of the best ones that has been made in this thread. Everyone on this board should read it and try to understand what @meisperplexed is trying to tell you. If you're not the one being affected by the language, rhetoric or actions you should not try to tell the affected how they should feel about the language, rhetoric or actions.
If there is one thing the past few years have taught us, though, is that white people sure don't mind telling historically marginalized people how they should feel about words or actions that call back to or reinforce the ideas of marginalization.
I remember a few months back @meisperplexed defended Tucker Carlson's comments in which he used rhetoric about, "they're coming for you," in conjunction with his anti-BLM thoughts that harkened back to the Klan scare tactics of 150 years ago by explaining that's not what he really meant.
