Stanley

First and foremost he’s talented but I’ve long believed that his older than usual age for a freshman would be a major factor. I thought he was very mature in terms of his shot selection.

I think he needs to be the focal point of the offense. Just judging by last night. Him, or Hurt. I like this guy a lot. Think he is going to end up being an underrated pickup.

Just watching him this summer in the Drew League you could tell he will be special. He rarely forces things and he’s great at picking his spots. His confidence is through the roof. I’m still trying to figure out why analysts questioned his shot. Everytime I’ve seen him on videos his shot has looked good. Go watch him against KCP and how he could work to get off his shot on a good NBA defender. If Koach let him lose he will shoot up the draft boards. Kid just can play

Thats the beauty of this team. And K and Tre have said it. Any night, the leading scorer could be different. Hell, any night, the top 3 scorers could be different.

Hurt is our most talented scorer because he can score on all three levels with the added ability to post.

Cassius is showing he’s got the ability to shoot and attack and he’s a nightmare on the break.

Wendell will find what he’s best with. He’s in his learning process.

Alex is our best shooter and he has now gained the confidence to attack the basket.

Vernon is a load on the inside and he’s going to get those chances at open threes by taking bigs out. He’s showing he has the option to drive too.

Duke has a lot of tools that will be tough to deal with in 2-3 months.

This team is definitely built differently than the past few years. Possibly a more traditional Duke team. Carey is going to be a crucial deciding factor for the success of the team. I liked what I saw of him last night even with him being out matched, he made some good decisions and didn't make very many mistakes. Especially for a freshman in the limelight in his first career college game.

I am looking forward to a year with moderate expectations with some really good potential to develop into a great team.

Ca$$iuS is $plendid. He just has that certain 'it', like Justise had, that makes you know he's going to impact the game. He's money.

Agree with everything being said in this thread. Especially agree that he doesn't seem to force it. Just lets the game come to him and be in the right spots (ex: get out on the break when Tre initiates).

On the flipside, i think that is what hurt Wendell last night. He seemed to be forcing it, which is understandable in his first game on the big stage.

Cassius is a high IQ player.

I really like the idea of Cassius starting with Alex with Tre. Then Wendell and Jack coming in with Jordan. The issue is that bench adds a lot defensively but not much offensively. Maybe Joey?

The front court, with Carey and Hurt starting and Javin. here is where either Joey or JRod might find some minutes when in need of depth but I would imagine that Jack is the next option to be at the 4.

Biggest surprise thus far. If he can tighten up his handle and get a consistent jumper, the sky is the limit for this kid. Hope he’s willing to put in the work.

He looks NBA ready. Much more than anyone else on our team right now. Granted it's one game in.

He also talked about returning to the Duke of old, with the focus on defense. That will be great to watch once again as it was our trademark for so long.

The learning curve is sometimes more steep for certain guys. We all remember how gifted Gerald Henderson was coming in, but it took him some time to get it figured out. That's Wendell, IMO.

Cassius was a pleasant surprise Tuesday night. And I don't want people taking that the wrong way. I thought he'd be good....but I wasn't expecting that poise in his first true college game against a really good team. You wouldn't have thought he was a freshman.

This team really has the potential to go smaller and run like hell to counter other teams with really good size. They are going to cause some mismatch problems for a lot of teams this year IMO.

He’s 20 years old. Is he really a freshman? I get it, in terms of game experience, yes. But I think that maturity that can come with older age definitely matters. I always thought that would play a positive factor and I believe it has.
