Northwestern turning into a B10 upset specialist...take down Illini this time
Lil off topic, but I'm surprised there hasn't been more push back on Illinois for playing a guy charged with rape. Women's groups and universities are usually all over this sort of thing.

Suspended him but a court stepped in and slapped an injunction...

The injunction lifts his suspension, doesn't force the school or coach to play him.

I digress, the point I was making is usually women's groups and other entities are voicing outrage over something like this and they're not. Just struck me as odd.

Illinois’ suspension was struck down as noted, and it happened off campus and out of state so not sure who they would be outraged at. The victim didn’t even know Shannon’s name and he was identified by having multi-colored dreadlocks If it’s true, I hope they throw the book at him

I think Kentucky may have added too many guys about the same level, so they think they all should start, and force shots as they audition for the NBA rather than play team ball and defense. 2nd round exit likely.

Roach is crucial for us. It is great that Proctor stepped up but can he be that every game? Plus the freshman guards have been up and down. Roach steers the ship. We don't make the final four 2 years ago without him.

You just aptly described every Uk team of the past ten years

I agree Chris. I think I am not alone in thinking that Proctor would be that guy this year, but he has been inconsistent and seems to lack the confidence we need from our point guard. He sure has shown flashes, and I still believe he "CAN BE" that type of floor leader for us.

McCain and Foster have shown flashes of brilliance, but definitely up and down.

But, in Roach, you have a proven commodity. He has shown over and over again over multiple years that he "IS" that guy. IMHO Duke desperately needs his leadership and confidence on the floor to make any sort of run.

It is being spoiled to expect the same results as K from Jon in year two, and a lot of our fanbase has overreacted big time on social media and some here, too. I don't think I was out of line.
I’m starting to think you are just awful at reading comprehension

All blue blood fans are to a degree. I've been a fan during the Greg Newton/McRoberts/Paulus years and the Elton Brand, Boozer, Battier years. Right now we are somewhere in the middle of those two. Jon has shown to be a great recruiter, but whether he can be a great coach remains to be seen. Chris Mullin failed as a coach at my alma mater, St. John's, and he was as smart a player as I've sever seen. (Him and the AD did not get along at all) I imagine that unless you are a legendary coach you must defer to the AD at times. Alabama football fans will not be patient with the new coach. He will get one year and then they will expect to the final four/title game contenders. It comes with the territory. (I think Jon is doing a good job, but he also has a lot to learn). He can ask K questions after the game, but in game all the pressure is on him. As a new coach I think it is especially hard that he has to rely on freshman, with the exception of this year. But even this year our core group are freshman and sophs, minus Roach/Young.
Virginia leads Louisville 41-13 at the half. Yikes.

K was paid really well to win at Duke, and Jon is too. Expecting to win every game is irrational, but losing at home to a non ranked team is not.
I realize two starters were out, but it was Pitt, not the Holes.
If the holes were down Rj and Bacot, they would've lost to Pitt, too. I think the response to the Pitt loss is an overreaction. I get it. We're all upset. But let's not pretend it wasn't a challenging situation.

True but the goal is to not let a guy go 7 of 7 from 3. Weakly putting a hand up is not going to effect most shooters unless they think you will block it.

I thought the majority of those 3s were pretty well-defended.
They were and 1 he was falling out of bounds when he shot it. I hope we play some type of box n 1 against rj Davis. He is there team. I went to a game last night and watched a high a school player making shots from everywhere first three quarters. Last quarter man in his face all over the court shut it down.

I watched the last few minutes of the Cheats game but it seems they just go one on one alot and if they miss it's Ingram or bacot getting rebounds and put backs. We gotta keep them off the glass otherwise we're done

That kid from Pitt isn’t going 7 for 7 from 3 with Mitchell guarding him. I agree some here are overreacting to the loss to Pitt. Duke had blown them out at the zoo, 10 days prior with a full cast (Duke’s best game all season on both ends).

And it’s more of a cumulative thing beyond Pitt. A 5 point win at home over an 8-8 Tech team that is 1-4 in the league? (Not to mention losing to them in Atlanta) tonight’s escape. There are nine ACC teams ranked ahead of Clemson right now, and Duke has only played one of those.

UNC doesn't usually go one on one a lot this year. UNC made a halftime adjustment and started screening FSU to force a big to switch onto a guard, and then had the guard Iso and attack off the dribble. It worked so they stuck with it. It's how UNC turned an 8 point deficit into a 7 point win. But it was purely a halftime adjustment based on what the coaches saw from FSU's first half defense.
