Other Games 24-25 Season

The commentator in the Auburn game just said that they are the number 1 team by a large large margin. Guess that dolt doesn't know who gave Auburn their first loss.
Yeah that was Jimmy dykes. Earlier he was saying the same think about how broome was player of year.

All the talk about UNC’s improvement doesn’t worry me. I think Duke has improved a lot since our first meeting. Duke should crush their souls Saturday night.
Yup, great point dukesince91, I do believe UNC is playing much better now than earlier in ACC play, but, newsflash, so is Duke! I would not be shocked to see a tight game Saturday, but I have a lot of confidence in our squad right now. The talking heads are saying bully ball is the way to beat Duke. Talk to Illinois and Wake.....how'd that work out for you guys??

Even with UNC changing their lineup to play bigger teams, they just don’t have the personnel to play bully ball. Duke is built for all styles of play. I’m expecting a close first 10 - 15 minutes with Duke having about a 8 point halftime lead and then winning by about 18-20.

Some of these possible 8 seeds are crazy...UCONN, Kansas, and Gonzaga are all in that ballpark.
Am I scared of any of them? No. Would I like to play someone else in the 2nd round? Yes.

Thought last nights game were good for us. I do not want Florida to be our 2 seed. They are extremely balanced, and I think they are a tier better than Alabama, Tennessee, MSU, St. Johns. Elite teams win on the road, and they have won at Auburn and at Alabama, that's impressive. Looks like they are on track now though to get the 4th #1 seed.

Kansas and UConn will be in that 6-7 range once the dust settles.

I'm ready to put money on us being a 1 with Michigan State as our 2 seed. If K were still at the helm, I would put the deed to the farm on it!

Yes, the 6,7,8 seeds are going to be interesting for sure!

As of today, this is how I think it looks (I am no bracketologist by any means haha!!)

South (Atlanta):
1) Auburn
2) Texas Tech

East (Newark):
1) Duke
2) Alabama

Midwest (Indianapolis):
1) Houston
2) Tennessee

West (San Francisco):
1) Florida
2) Michigan State

If Alabama defeats Auburn on Saturday and Duke beats unc then Duke will overtake the overall #1 seed since Auburn will have 1 more loss on the season and Duke won the head to head matchup

St. John's is on the cusp of moving up to the 2 seed line if Texas Tech loses on Saturday @ Arizona State or if Texas Tech fails to make it to the semi-finals of the Big12 Tournament

I don't like having a potential matchup with Alabama, I would rather have any of the other 2 seeds.

john1219, Alabama is very talented and can really score being led by Sears and Nelson. Oats is a very good coach too. St. John's in Newark is who I hope Duke avoids in Duke's region since a lot of fans would show up to support St. John's playing essentially a home game. Michigan State is also one of the hotter teams in the country right now playing their best basketball of the season. Florida is really good, so I hope they remain on the 1 seed line.

I would prefer Duke to have Tennessee or Alabama as their 2 seed, because Duke would have way more fans in Newark than either of those teams. Also, these are their respective weaknesses.

Tennessee - Struggles to score
Alabama - Struggles to defend

Florida, St. John's, and Michigan State would be Tougher Draws for Duke imo

Alabama doesn't scare me, we would score 110 points on them. Tennessee is the exact opposite of Alabama, and I don't think this Duke team would wilt against Tennessee's physical play, so they don't scare me either.

Florida is the team I'd prefer to avoid. They are top 10 in offense and defense. The metrics say they are a lot like Duke, just slightly worse. They have a lot of depth too as they can play 9 good players.

MSU has no talent but this is a perfect team for Izzo as they rebound and play defense, but ultimately they don't have the horses to hang with us. Oddly Izzo teams make runs with no talent. The years he has had 1 or 2 five-stars, they get bounced very early. They are ranked 321 in the country in 3 point shooting. 3's will have to be made to beat Duke, and they are awful at that.

I'd take St. Johns all day in our bracket, but if we are in Newark, I would not want them in the Sweet16 (which seems unlikely they get a 4 now). I'd be happy seeing them in the Elite8 in Newark. Big talent descrepency between us and them.

Dukedallas, St. John’s is very experienced and tough minded starting 3 seniors and 2 juniors. The Johnnies also boast one of the top defenses in the country and are coached by one of the best collegiate men’s basketball coaches of all time. St. John’s will not be an easy out in the NCAA Tournament.

I don't disagree. But if it's the Elite 8, you are gonna have to beat someone good. I think Florida is a tier above St. Johns, and I think Alabama is more dangerous just due to the volume of 3's they shoot.
I have a few friends who are lifelong St. Johns fans, and they will just be happy to make the Sweet16 this year since it's been so long for them, anything after that is gravy. I think the talent gap is too large between us and them, even if the game is in Newark.

UNC has been pressing on defense lately, we could see that Saturday night. That would be great preparation if we did have to play St. Johns as they play a similar style.
