Official Gameday thread- NCAA Tournament round of 64- Duke Vs Prosperity Gospel U

Ncaa tourney time is here and we are playing better than any team in the country.. being extremely disrespected in seeding we open up with what some would call a “tough” game in the first round. I for one wouldnt say that but we’ll see that later on.

Game is scheduled to tip at 710 in the home of Mikey mouse Orlando Florida on CBS. We are currently a 6 point favorite.

Oral Roberts is 30-4 on the season and not lost since January. However it should be stated that is the last team of substance they have played. Loses on the year include-
Saint Mary’s by 8
Houston by a stunning 38
Utah St by 10
New Mexico st by 7
Oral is coached by Paul Mills still riding high off a sweet 16 run but was unable to repeat a March madness appearance last year. Oral is led by Max Abmas with 22ppg and 4apg. They are also led by human tooth pick Conner Vanover who provides 12 ppg 7.2 RPG and 3.3 BPG.

I hope oral packed light because I do believe it will be a short trip (can you tell I feel disrespected by everyone saying we could lose or how tough this game will be?!) Duke is going to show the world who runs college basketball tomorrow night and make an example out of OR

I’m torn. I like how well they are playing, but what I’ve seen as a Duke fan, I keep waiting for something bad to happen. Scary that some have picked us to go to the Final 4.
I pray they keep up the solid play, and make a big statement tonight, winning going away.

I share some of your trepidation Mac. But barring an absolutely atrocious shooting night by our entire team, I feel like we win this one going away after a tight first half. ORU is going to come out swinging, trying to take the upper hand, the momentum and the crowd. We are still a young team, but let's see some of that recent maturity shine thru!

The line is 6.0. 12 over a 5 is a trendy pick every year. As many people are picking us to go to the FF, I've seen many picking us to lose tonight. I think we've played well and should win on paper. But in this year's tournament, we got a tough draw. It is what it is. I hope our guys wallop them, but I expect a battle.

I'll add, that if by some chance we lost tonight, it would cast a huge shadow on the great growth we have seen in the past 6 weeks, a sweep of UNC and the tremendous job Coach has done with this team in his first year. That would be an absolute shame.

we have had a few teams which stunk it up against a decided underdog. However, when that happened, Duke was not playing well or was suffering from nagging injuries. Neither circumstance applies here. So, Duke 83 ORU 63. OFC

Duke by 15-20. They are good, but we are playing like a 2 seed right now. Would be a really disappointing loss considering, but I think we pull away in the second half. We are gelling as a team. Could it be close? Sure. But I'm going to say it won't be. As long as we don't tighten up we get a comfy win. Allow them to stick around and all bets are off.

I agree with this. My biggest concern originally was pressuring their guards but now it's switched to how we respond when they go zone (guarantee they will)...I have a very strong feeling they are going to deploy it when we least expect it and my concern is we fall in love with the 3 when it happens. Ultimately we pull away at the end though.

I think our team has matured and will not fall in love with the 3. I’m not saying we want shoot some, but this team has learned to win vs a variety of defenses and various offensive tempo. We’re gonna win by 16 plus.
