Official game day thread- THE final four- Duke vs Houston

Lack of end close end game execution...been an issue..and rose up at the wrong time. Experience beats youth..
Yep. Can’t lose that lead. Refs were terrible too but still can’t lose that lead. Ignoring holds on Houston on inbounds but calling touch fouls on drives in the final two minutes just doesn’t look good on that crew

3 times we called timeout to draw a play...2 times Coop shot fadeaways and 1 time Kon went to basket and shot got blocked.

Biggest letdown of the last 25 years easily. Absolutely no way to look at this in any positive light. Maybe the biggest collapse in tournament history.

Horrible execution

****ing pathetic....

Picking up right where K left off...

Do less with more than any other coach in the NCAA!
You do realize having stud freshmen has never been the pathway to winning championships for anyone. This team had more balance but once you get in the final 16 anything can happen. If it was strictly based on talent dean smith would have won like 10 championships.

Couple thoughts:

Mal and James were both -18 tonight. They should have been riding the bench. Jon with a piss poor job tonight.

Lastly, I've harped on Proctor for 3 years about how weak he is. He should have been in the weight room the last 3 years and he clearly hasn't.
Mal with 0 rebounds and never even tried big pat is disgraceful

I hate how Houston plays and I hate how they let Houston play.

This team had trouble inbounding against the press all season and Jon didn’t do anything to fix it. You can’t lose this game you just can’t

Scheyer's end game plays need a lot of work...we needed a senior leader PG to take the ball...we dont have one....refs didnt help but you cannot give this up defensively either...and now we change our team again....you have to be able to drive the ball and score in crunch time..10 mins....one FG....thats the difference

We are still a young team and we looked young down the stretch. I still feel this was a good year but a missed opportunity. I did wonder throughout the year if 3 starting freshman could get it done But we came damn close. Still; the final four is where Duke should be as a program. I hope we get some guys back. Thank you Cooper and Kon. Proctor, Foster, Brown, Pat and Evans would be a nice core.

Mal was an innocent bystander most of the night. Little to no effort when rebound. It was contagious because several others did the same. Effort was lackluster at times.

Had every opportunity and squandered it. Coop shooting fadeaway after fadeaway, Mal with 0 rebounds, Proctor missing free throws, can't inbounds. Kon barely got any shot attempts second half

Everybody pretty much changes their team now with the new portal rules. This is going to start driving fans away.

The freshmen didn’t cost us this game, granted Maluach didn’t show up. Look at the mistakes Proctor, James, and Gillis made.

we got beat in the end by a team with 20+ yr olds....physically stronger and mentally experienced...this is what wins....no one with a young team has won in a while....its just not a formula that wins....but its the Duke formula right now....Final Four is great...but experience is the differentiator...we should have won this one at the end....youth in our coaching and youth in the team caused the collapse. JS can learn,....but next year...its more of the same inexperience and youth....

I believe this was a coaching choke more than anything else. Which is understandable for such a young coach . JS face has been nervous since the elite 8 lol. We are 100% the better team and beat their ass the whole game

Apologies for my previous posts...

It's been a tough year on the personal front; and I was really hoping for something special with this team!

Been a fan since the early 90's....Usually not a dick like I was tonight!!!

Scheyer is an amazing coach. This team was amazing all year and brought me back to early k teams that I grew up with (late 80 early 90s). Tough on defense. Played great team basketball on offense. Made adjustments in game to put his players in great positions. Duke wins against Houston 4 out of 5 times. And was the better team by a good bit for 38 minutes. Duke messed up a lot in those final 2 minutes because they are still young and the officiating did change a lot. I think a lot of you all are just too emotionally retarded to see how great this season was and how lucky Duke is to have such a great young coach. I am sad this team lost but have been a fan long enough to know that winning a championship isn’t easy and sometimes it happens to teams you won’t expect and the ones you do expect miss out.

I wish Jon would man up. You make millions of dollars. When interviewed why not say well tough to overcome a complete blown call down the stretch. If we are calling that all game Houston’s entire team is fouled out.
