Official game day thread- Duke vs NC St

Need others to step up. Coop played almost the whole game the other night. We owe them big time from last year. Let's cruise to another 20 plus point non stressful win.

Let's go Duke!

State is bad. We should win this one fairly easily, with Cooper not playing much the last 7-8 minutes.

By the time FF Saturday rolled around last season, I was pulling hard for them, but I wanna get some payback. A blowout tonight won't get it all back at once, but it will be a good start.

Middlebrooks, O'Connell, and Taylor return from the NC State team which gave Duke 2 losses last season. Middlebrooks will try to muck it up against Flagg, because Middlebrooks did so with Flip last season.

Duke needs to start the game fast and never give NC State any glimmer of hope. Duke owes NC State a couple of beat downs from last season.

The good thing is Flip can’t carry flaggs jockstrap

don't think many players can pisgah.

Flip went through a lot during his time at Duke which Coach Scheyer kept in house (crazy fiance, family issues), hip surgery, playing out of position his Sophomore year. At the end of the day, Flip was a large reason for Duke's success his two years at Duke and was an All-American as a Sophomore. I am glad to see Flip starting for the Utah Jazz.

Freshman Flip:

Led Division I in double-doubles earned for All Freshmen
ACC Rookie of The Year
ACC Tournament MVP

Sophomore Flip:

Stats Improved
2nd Team All American

Flip would have been a 1st Round Draft Pick had he left after his Freshman Season at Duke, but he chose to return to run it back.

Agreed about Flip. I will never knock a kid for returning to college even if it hurts their draft stock.

I also don't think Duke did Flip any favors by not bringing in a true C last season, meaning Flip had to play out of position all year. His body language for most of last season was....really bad. Makes me wonder if there was even more going on than his crazy gf/family saga. We will probably never know.

Duke.

Don’t think you see Miidlebrooks on Flagg unless NC state wants him with all five fouls in the first half . I’d worry about Hill and Taylor. Especially if Duke comes out flat and decides to have a memory lapse on defense .

Coming off the big road win along with UNC on Saturday has me thinking we start out sluggish but eventually pull away.

Duke 83
NC St 63
Double D, I tend to agree. Quick turnaround, and I see it fairly tight at least early on. I don't care what Jon or Proctor, Foster would say- it's a revenge game from the Elite Eight final.

Duke 73
State 54

This. Cooper is a true generational talent but Flip was widely successful during his two years and was a critical piece to bridge the K to Jon era.

Proctor is the only one who played in last year's game.
This is true Chris, and I knew Caleb's year ended EARLIER in the loss at Wake. Again I knew Proctor played in the State loss, and Foster was the only "regular" I could remember as part of the squad(albeit injured).

I guess Spencer Hubbard was a bench warmer, and maybe Stanley Borden was perhaps practicing with the team. Btw, help this senile old man out: Who was the Wolfpack center (really good player), taunting Duke fans in the crowd? Thanks dude! #GoDuke

We got 3 kids in the McDonalds AA game unless I am missing someone. The Wonder twins and the wing from Cali.
