Official game day thread- Duke vs INCARNATE WORD

Still lost with all the fire power Duke is supposed to have .

Gonna play negative Nancy and say this wasn’t an impressive game . We already knew Duke had the number one defense but the offense has got to grow . If this was an ACC team we gave them to much life for the upset .

Yeah, the defense is their identity. Pretty simple, they have to work on this offense. Obviously, haha

I will start my post game thread next week. Nothing to take from this game.

Wake me when we play North Carolina or Illinois. When did the ACC get so boring? Where are the Jordans, the Sampsons, the Vince Carters, the Hanstravels, the Vasquez/Blakes, the Kenny Andersons? Zzzzzzzzzz

We won. What are we 9-2? I used to always know what our record was. 34% from 3 for the year needs to improve. Evans could help with that. Mal played well.
8-2. 34% is pretty pitiful with the shooters we have. A lot of the shots are wide-open, too. Yeah, Mal had a great game. We need the Chris "Coors and Nathan's Stats and Stuff." I had a Burger and Modelo at the restaurant with my work crew tonight. Never again will I eat that combo during a game.

A toe injury is so vauge. Did he stub it? Ingrown toenail? Another secret that will be taken to the grave.
I was wondering if the guys lift without shoes. I know a lot of guys who do that and was curious if that was the case in the past. I have done it once and stubbed it within 10 minutes.

That was an absolute pathetic offensive performance in the 1st half. If we play like that against an above average team, it'll be goodnight for us.

Maluach was pretty solid in the 1st half, but I do believe our offensive struggles are partly because he is on the floor as a non-shooting threat. But regardless, hopefully he was able to build up some confidence on that end. Evans certainly doesn't lack confidence.

In my opinion, our issues mostly stem from a lack of lane penetration. Good things happen when the guy with the ball can get his feet into the lane, and then know what to do once they get there. Doing that puts extra pressure on the defense. I also think there's too many times when Flagg is out there 20 plus feet from the basket, getting the ball.

I know it was an inferior team last night, but you can't teach what Maluach has, which is being 7'2 with a 7'5 wingspan.

We’re heading into the meat of our season. I don’t recall Jon ever going small ball this season. What do you think as a change of pace going with this lineup?

Sion
Proctor
Evans
Kon
Flagg

I know it’s a game of matchups, but talk about spacing the floor. I also agree with Mac. Cooper needs to operate from the inside to out more than he does.

dukesince91 personally not a fan of your proposed lineup both Kon and Evans are weak defenders at this stage in the season. I think opponents would attack them relentlessly.
I understand. Sometimes it just seems if we’re going to chunk up 3’s, this is the best we have. I miss back to the basket players like Brand, Booser, Carey, just to name a few.

Maybe our guys have too much time to shoot 3s. They are parked in the corner for 10 seconds. Where is the motion?

Based on Jon's comments he is playing the long game and will slowly teach the offense. If it works and we make a deep run then he is right. That said it is not rocket science.

I think Evans is our best shooter. I liked what looked to be concerted efforts to get him attempts in the 2nd half. Looked like some
double screens and such and him flaring out to get those shots. Teams are looking out for him now but he has a great release for that. It’s hard to affect his shot. Everyone else, I would like to see take opportunistic threes (kick-outs after rebounds, drive and dish etc) but Evans and to some extent Kon are the only ones I want to see PLAYS run to get them looks because both can get very hot and flip the game. Its a little harder for Kon because he is not as quick or long when shooting and doesn’t have the quickest release coming off of screens. So i make an exception with him but i say that to say everyone else needs to be more aggressive going to the basket, hitting the floater or lob to Mal or Brown.

Brown has a toe sprain, and Jon said "we hope to get him back as soon as possible." A quick google search said toe sprains can last 3 to 6 weeks. Hopefully it does not linger. Depends on the severity.
