As most of you know, I’m pretty new here. So far I’ve really enjoyed this community. It’s awesome to find a well-managed + active (props to the mods!) place to root on Duke, discuss and debate basketball.
The best part about this forum is that we are all true big-time Duke fans. I don’t get any bandwagon or fair weather vibes from anyone. I love the positivity whether we win or lose. It makes this place special and different from a lot of the other boards you find on the internet. — While all of this is awesome, I wish we were a little more open-minded towards opinions that are fair and logical. Sometimes I post or I see others post inoffensive constructive criticism or neutral “realistic” thoughts and the feedback can be invalidating rather than debating. Often that turns into follow the leader. We all have different personalities, perspectives and opinions. I’m not referring to any specific threads, just noting what I’ve seen over a variety of topics. Of course I’m not referring to people’s feedback to outrageous and illogical posts. But like I mentioned right off the bat, I’m new. I’m not asking for a change of habits. Most of you have been on here for a substantial amount of time, how things run is the way it goes. I’m just overall summarizing my experience here so far.
I know that upon joining I didn’t create a thread introducing myself. I know that’s common forum knowledge but I searched back tons of threads and saw no history of it. (Because now I realize you’re all veterans of this place lol) So I just began posting away. Considering I was brand spankin’ new and of strong opinions, I know I ruffled some feathers. My parents raised to show overwhelming respect and to root for the Hoosiers. The last part didn’t work out. Saying that, I do want to apologize for anyone I rubbed the wrong way. Standard procedure for going to a stranger’s house is knocking and being welcomed inside. Not barging in, kicking your feet on the coffee table and changing the TV volume. Same rule applies here and I didn’t make the right choice initially.
Since I never did an offical introduction thread, I figured it wouldn’t hurt to post this. Most of you are awesome and have treated me well. I know there’s a handful that don’t like me and that’s cool. I understand that you can’t change a first impression over night or sometimes at all. No hard feelings. My family and majority of my friends are IU or UK fans, so it’s been great to interact with a true Duke fan base.
Thanks for having me here and thank you if you took the time to read this post that’s probably longer than UNC’s list of athletes that committed academic fraud. GO DUKE!
