I still think this UK team was as good as advertised, and pretty clearly. Saturday night was more a failure in strategy/execution and then ultimately bad luck moreso than anything, particularly some sort of affirmation to the notion of "well, they weren't that good anyway."
And that's not blind homerism, just understanding that the best team won't always win. Maybe more relatable to Duke fans would be Duke '99 iirc. That team was also "that good", didn't seal the deal and really could've gone undefeated that year. Maybe you wouldn't agree, but I'd say outside of possibly 91/92 that team was the best Duke team ever, in spite of not winning the championship and are now an afterthought just like UK 15 will be.
Yes, UK choked in the last five minutes and yes Wisconsin is also a very good team that played better that night and deserved to win. I also firmly believe UK could've just as easily gone 38-0 (it wasn't easy) with Wisconsin's or Duke's schedule, but maybe not if they had to play those teams (or maybe vs Arizona or @Notre Dame) because those teams were also good with play-styles that could negate some of UK's strengths.
Tonight Duke wins through superior guard play, breaking Wisconsin down off the dribble and hitting mid range jumpshots or better imo, good luck.
