James Wiseman leaving Memphis

Penny paid all of that money in moving expenses to get him to play ball in high school in Memphis. Guess it was all for nothing! Ouch!

This really doesn’t surprise me too much because he already knows that he isn’t going to be able to play in college and he was only going to be there for one season anyway so he might as well get himself prepared for the NBA. I can’t think of any specific instances but I seem to remember that this isn’t the first time that something like this has happened with a player leaving school after being declared ineligible or even suffering a season ending injury to prepare themselves for the NBA.

Kind of a d**khead move. You commit to a team and then leave them hanging ? Sorry, I think it is low class. I get his reasoning, but I think it is crappy. It's up there with players not playing in a bowl game.

I mean he’s already been sitting due to the NCAA. What a big middle finger to them. His suspension was idiotic in my opinion, so let him do what’s best for him since the NCAA didnt have his best interest.

If anything, Penny should’ve been suspended

Maybe they know something we don't about his eligibility. Maybe they got word he wasn't going to he able to play.

Me too man! I’m so thankful Zion didn’t do that to us... and he could have done it if he wanted to.
That’s why Zion is so special. He played the game for the team on court too. One of the best Dukies of all time regardless of what you think about one and done.

I don’t mind Wiseman leaving. All the hassle of classes and not being around other elite bigs and coaches... his future is in the league. Memphis can’t offer him top flight training.

That’s one thing that will definitely make Zion be so special to me! Could have bailed, but he didn’t, because the fans and his teammates mattered more to him! So much respect for Zion!

Rumor out is hof coach roy williams is trying to lear him down to cheater heel by petitoning the NCAA to have him eligible to play the second semester. Another innovation of the game from cheater u. Reason for the request is unc has so many injuries so it has become a disadvantage to compete. OFC

I suppose that is the difference between playing for the "Brotherhood" and playing for Memphis. About the only good thing about Memphis is Gus's World Famous Spicy Fried Chicken originated there (that place is amazing, glad we have one in Houston).

I’d change Q’s last sentence- the NCAA didn’t do what’s in THEIR best interests. They lose out on his talent playing their sport. The idiots from ESPN saying this isn’t the ncaas fault, and they didn’t make the rule, and you can go other places to get paid- yes that is correct guys. You’re also missing the big picture when your head is in the sand- you don’t want these players going the other avenues. You want them playing in yours. That’s why the networks paid billions upon billions to cover the tournament. Not having the best and most marketable talents is something that the networks will not be happy with. Idiots.

I like it for our title chances, but as far as the NCAA and college basketball goes, this has to be a rough year for them.
Last year they had Zion. Who is the big name that is playing college basketball this year? I'm not even saying it has to be a OAD freshman, it could be an elite junior or senior too? Is it Cassius Winston lol? Nico Mannion??

This years overall crop of freshman was down, and without Wiseman/Lamelo Ball/ RJ Hampton, it is a joke.

I think most people assumed that most of the best players would still come and play college basketball for a year until the OAD issue gets resolved. But if the Class of 2019 has taught us anything, where 3 of the 5 best players are not playing college basketball, this is happening way quicker than anyone thought and could very well be a crisis coming.

The NCAA might not have created the rule that requires these guys to stay a year past high school in some place other than the nba, but they are sure doing their best to repel them from choosing the NCAA over other alternatives.
