Wow. What a game Saturday! There have been years, and times, when we were ranked #1 that I didn't buy the hype. This year (and in fairness, in 2018 after we hammered Kentucky), we're ALL buying the hype.

We out played Gonzaga 35 of the 40 minutes of basketball we played Saturday and it was beautiful to watch. Paolo, Trevor and Wendell are getting all the hype, and rightfully so, but this team isn't what it currently is, without big Mark. His rim protection has taken us to a new level defensively.

All of that said, we've got to turn the page to tonight's game against Ohio State (4-2), and not allow any carryover from Saturday. Tonight is our first REAL road test, and it won't be an easy one.

The Buckeyes have a couple of losses on the year to Florida and Xavier (and it took a buzzer beater to beat Akron in its opener), but they'll be ready for us. Ohio State is big, physical and will play tough, gritty defense against us from tip to buzzer.

Still, I really like how we're playing and how we match up against Ohio State tonight. I think we win this game in a grinder.

Duke (7-0) enters tonight's game as only a -2.5 favorite - which I REALLY like. I liked the money line on Saturday over Gonzaga (+340) quite a bit (obviously that panned out) but I like this in a straight bet even more, honestly.

Tonight's game is slated to tip at 9:30pm est and will air on ESPN.

Coach K Fact #8: Coach K and Duke are 19-3 in the Big 10 ACC Challenge since its inaugural year 22 years ago. In 2011 the #2 Buckeyes did beat #3 Duke at Value City Arena in Columbus in a route, 85-63.

Their best player by far is EJ Liddell who is a big body with nice post moves and other than their center, they don't have anyone else over 6'8. I say we contain EJ with a combo of Paolo and Mark. Just rebound rebound rebound. Our defense carries us and we win a grinder.

Ohio St. was ranked at the beginning. They are going to play tough in your face defense. If Duke let’s up , isn’t hitting shots and one of Paolo, Moore or Williams get into foul trouble early things could tip. Especially if Duke doesn’t get on the offense board. However I still like Duke in this match up. True road game.

We need to go out tonight and play like we are the #1 team in the country and not like the #1 ranked team in the country if that makes any sense. Like Ric Flair used to say if you want to be the best you got to beat the best. There is no doubt in my mind that we are the best team in the country. This team just flat out impresses me. It's been a while since we have had veterans playing well. Of course Wendell is just on another level right now but transfer Theo John is making a difference without scoring a lot. Joey Baker has improved defensively, grabbing rebounds and has hit some nice threes even if he doesn't call bank. I may be in a minorty here but although Roache's shooting percentage may not be as good as we like when he makes a basket it seems big at the time. Reminds me of Quinn Cook a little. I don't know where we would be without big Mark. He gains confidence every game and his blocks aren't just keeping the ball from going in they are like some of Zion's viscious blocks. Mark has taken the load off Paola who can just roam . He is everything we expected. Keels has not scored at the pace he did against UK but he's still giving us what we need. Just get out of his way when he goes to the rim. The shots will start falling. AJ is going to be fine. Step by step and game by game he's gonna get there and if he's not starting by conference play he's gonna be the 1st guy off the bench. What I haven't mentioned is team chemistry. I don't this team cares who leads the team in scoring from game to game. Everyone comes off the bench when someone makes a great play on either end of the court and I haven't seen one post so far from this board or DBB about body language or look for a transfer. I do understand it's still a long season and it seems every year we do hit a rut in the road. Doubt very much we go 40-0. That just doesn't happen. When do hit that rut I know this team will respond. Every year I feel we have a chance to win the natty. If we play every game like we are the best team in the country then number six will be ours. I apologize for the deepsouth like post and if you read it my hat is off to you. OFC

Yeah I def feel like we have a couple nickel and dimers called on us. Shot it pretty well after a rough first few minutes. Defense looks like it settled in a bit. Helps that they can’t make any free throws
