Duke baseball -- 2025 season

Boys better of brought the bats today because going to be a slugfest. No pitching at all 2-0 and still not out of the top of the 1st

Been yelling about terrible pitching for two years… putting a true frosh to start a game 3 is wild but after yesterday we proved we have nobody else.

Tallon was a STUD freshman year. As was Kyle. Both seemingly regressed. Duke can’t find anyone to pitch. Murray state pitcher and batters are just better. Duke might be the best team at losing the advantage winning game 1 of a super. So disappointing

Time to move on from Brady.

Well I believe that was Duke best shot at getting to the World Series. Can’t believe they lost two Series clinching games at home to Murray State. I think it would be easier if they lost at LSU or UCLA. But losing to a mid major or Cinderella at home is the toughest. Duke itself is a Cinderella since last time making the Wotld Series was 1961.

What struck me in the story was the thought that it would take a total of six years to renovate Jack Coombs Stadium! Why so long? I think you could build it from scratch in much less time. (Trump could have had it done on "day one!" ;))
No, Mods, I'm not taking it to the Lounge!

I'm sure it'd take less time if the renovations were completed on a continual timeline.

But stopping and/or working around the team during fall practices and the season means their windows to renovate are smaller.

I'm not buying that. Sorry, Conor. By the way, I am in no way suggesting that this had anything to do with Chris departing.... it was just an observation on my part.

And he took his staff with him.

Pollard must have known he was leaving quite some time ago, since his staff was ready to depart with him.

Nina King's record on coaching hires is excellent. I have confidence she will hit the jackpot again for baseball. She has a successful program to offer new coaches.

As usual, Lift comes thru with a post to "lift"
(Honestly, no pun intended), my spirits. Nothing but the absolute best to Coach Pollard, except when he's playing DUKE.

I am also certain Dr.King will score an excellent coaching hire, considering her past record. The Duke baseball program is established IMHO as an annual contender, despite the failure to get to Omaha.

Jack Coombs is only going to get better. Also, the exposure Duke received on national TV (as the only NCAA game last nite), is INVALUABLE. This thread for Duke Baseball has been marvelous. Of course, Conor, thank you for your coverage.

I agree. Do what Northwestern did with their football stadium rebuild and make a temporary facility for 1-2 years.

I’m somewhat concerned about who Pollard takes with him via the portal. Tallon, Gracia, Nard, Johnson, Winslow, Proksch and Zatkowski are all underclassmen who played big roles this season. Not to mention we had a highly rated freshman class, most of whom didn’t get much PT, but would have been expected to play larger roles next year.

One article suggests Josh Jordan, a former assistant coach at Duke and now at LSU, would be a likely candidate, but since LSU is headed to Omaha, that wouldn’t be announced until LSU’s season is completed.

It's a valid concern about losing talented players but Tallon and Proksch are draft-eligible lefties who have shown everything needed to be taken in the top 10 rounds -- it's much more likely they're pitching for somebody's minor league team than in college next year. Nard is also draft-eligible.

Josh Jordan makes the most sense on paper.
