8 is enough with this team

Are you referring to our 8 losses? An 8 seed? We are trending in the right direction, but NC State and UNC are big tests. I am very cautiously optimistic. I think we can beat VT. UNC is going to be gunning for us, we better be ready.

Don’t look past nc state. They’ll be on paper the toughest test we get.

IMO, a solid 8-man rotation is ideal for all but the worst occasions of foul trouble and it is enough to keep legs fresh. One can't plan for injuries of course. That like so many other things as a team approaches tournament play just have to fall under the mantle of hoping for good luck.

I have NC State as a loss. If we win all 3 that would be impressive. If we are going to lose one; I'd rather lose to NC State and beat UNC.

The Atlantic has an interview with Jon. He says he is trying for a shift in recruiting; with less freshman. Thank the Lord. Jon seems to get that the one and done approach is not sustainable. It's fine to have a few OADs, but not a whole team of them. I'm glad Jon has been reading my posts. I think it can be done. Get transfers with a few years left and don't exclusively recruit top 20 guys. Every year I have to brief my dad on our players because he doesn't know who anyone is.

Unfortunately the OADs seem to gravitate towards one another and seem to go to the same school That’s the problem he’s gonna run up against. It may be all or nothing some years with the oads but I agree there’s got to be another way.

I know the feeling. When I read about your post about Brakefield my initial reaction was who the hell is that

Yea, this is an underappreciated problem when it comes to threading the needle concerning too many potential ONDs in a class for continuity's sake. By the time they sign, they have often known each other for years through AAU ball and they often want to play with each other. Plus, they have watched the NBA for years and I think they have a tendency to want to play with guys that they perceive as having similar talent. People criticized K for going all in on ONDs, but I think that it's harder to get some kind of balance than people think, most especially in the last few years.

Hmm. Unless we get some sort of an injury Saturday night, I’d think we will be somewhere around 5.5 point favorites at home against NC State.

I understand your pessimism. But this would be our last home game, chance to go undefeated at home, and it’s senior night (will we be recognizing anyone?) Based on the absolute disaster of last years final home game, I think Jon will have the squad ready to play.

BPI currently gives us an 81% chance of winning that one. 48% chance of winning at UNC, I think that’ll be the tougher one.

I think Blake’s should get some burn more re than likely the best defender at the guard position.
I agree on less OAD’s , but the way the portal works now and days it would be advantageous to recruit at least four a year from the portal. Duke does not have the balance of upper class man versus four freshman starting every night. Do not go away from recruiting the top talent, but limit it so the balance equals out. Little more
I think Coach K got pissed because coach C at Kentucky was putting more players in the NBA and that is how it got started

I think it is more a by product of who can put them in NBA the fastest they gravitate to Duke and Kentucky being they have a track record of one and dones

If they recognize Roach we know he is gone. The 2015 team had Plumlee, Amile, Jones, Quinn and even Suiliman for half the year. Plus 4 stud freshman.

Quinn was the only senior on that team, or at least only senior that played. But yes, that squad was a perfect blend of star freshman and solid veterans. I remember that senior night we beat Wake Forest by a lot (we were up around 45 at one point.)

Crazy to think Tyus wasn’t recruited as a OAD but obviously it all worked out.

And a huge game from Grayson. Kind of foreshadowing what was to come.

Every team has to run their own race. But I think the 2015 team would beat our current team by double digits. They were really good. I watched the first Wisconsin game where we won at their place. Winslow was ridiculous.

Chris, I am surprised you have us at a lose to State! You do realize they have beaten none of the upper conference teams on the road. All of their road wins have been against the lower teams!! They are not a good road team at all. My only real worry about loosing in the last 3 games is to the cheats, since its on the road. But I still think we beat them to!!!!

Don't get wrong about loosing to State!!
I think I'm traumatized by the beatdown they gave us. They did just lose to Syracuse. Maybe home court will be enough.
State is just like Clemson, they are a entirely different team on the road than they are at home. Don't get me wrong, State is capable of winning at Duke, but they have got to change their strips to do that and I sure don't expect it!!

Or he could just be realizing that his chance at tenure is not going to be the utilization of strictly OAD.
It’s harder to instill your play style and coaching on revolving players year in and year out but I highly doubt if seven of the top fifty players wanted to come he’d say know .
This along with the spreading out of NIL only makes since .

Side note ,” in Virginia and I saw my first NIL commercial with Gardner ( believe that’s his name ) from Virginia doing a foot sole commercial.
