Carter played in (and won) the Georgia 2A state championship today. I went to the game and came away very impressed. Wendell racked up 30 points and 20 rebounds. 10-11 from the floor. 3-3 from three. 7-10 from the line. 3 blocked shots. Throw in a couple of steals and some very nice assists. He has great instincts and really nice overall skill set.

Two things really stood out for me:
First, Manchester played extremely physical D on Carter, often verging on dirty. He was kicked in the back of the head while on the floor once and was hit in the face with a forearm shiver late in the game. He kept his composure throughout and never appeared to get frustrated and never tried to retaliate. If it's possible, he got a very quiet 30 and 20.
Second, on a secondary break, a Manchester guard pulled up for a foul line jumper. Carter was playing post D in the lane about 10 feet away. He shed his guy, took one step and leaped to block the shot. He landed and reacted quicker than anyone to track down the loose ball. He picked it up cleanly and took off leading a 1 on 2 break. He was fouled going to the rim. The whole sequence was incredibly smooth and he made it look easy.

Fingers crossed that he decides to come to Duke!
