UNC next coach?

The original poster who started this said "huge" drop off. Not my words, but his.

I'm not sure anyone here doesn't expect there to be a drop off. After all, we're talking about the greatest coach in modern college basketball history. With that are going to come some hurdles. If you don't expect that then you're naive.

But a huge drop off? That's, of course, open to opinion and definition. K can't be replaced. He won't be replaced on certain levels. But the program will go on. Does it at the same level? Initially, I'd have to agree it doesn't, but that's also because the GOAT is gone.

Again, what is the definition of a huge drop off? That meaning can be different to different people. Does it mean that over the next 30 years we don't make 12 Final Fours and win five national championships? What if we go to two Final Fours and win one national championship in the 10 years post-K....does that justify something huge? I don't know and it's open to interpretation. So really, nobody can be right or wrong.

History would suggest things won't be "as" good. But really, it'd be hard in today's game to get better, relatively speaking.
Perfect post dj I and yeah I was riled posting what I did but geez I'm sick of other fans saying we're going into the abys and we don't need that from our own fans. Hp you can have your own opinion but we're Duke fans you should expect people to think the opinion you stated is ignorant

Never said we were going into an abys, everyone said that when Bubbas left. What I said was , and you can interpret this any way you want, was that the program would go down until the new person got his system together. I have watched this program for as long as you have and have seen it go up and down over the 50 odd years that I have been a fan. Do I expect it to continue to do well after K, yes, do I expect if drop initially, yes. Maybe I'll be wrong , I hope so. If I am great and I'll just be ignorant I guess.. I guess we can't all super fans and brilliant like you....

You're kind of changing your initial stance now. You said huge drop off. In that last post you backed away quite a bit from that point.

Don't see the point in continuing this on and on. And , I haven't changed my stance. It will be a big time drop off for a while. Hope I'm wrong, but , over the years have seen this ebb and flow many times. It's easy to get spoiled by a coach like K. What I would expect would be for a year or two after K, things will look good. After his recruits have moved on, we'll see how the new coach will still be able to bring in top classes year after year as k has done. It's easy to say, well ,we will still have the same recruiters. But , K was the reason the top recruits want to come here and play for. Then then the new coach will rebuild the program. His program..This is not being negative, just realistic.. I really don't see why this has become such a big deal. I think there are a lot of older fans on here who probably feel this way , especially since they have seen this play run before also. At any rate I am done with this ...

Jerod Haase has a couple of years at UAB to prove himself. He got them into the NCAAT this last season. But can he do it again? If that was the beginning of an improving record, he could be in good position. Otherwise they probably go out of the family. Several other guys in coaching, but none doing all that well that I know of.

Lebo doesn't have much above a winning record at East Carolina.

I know nobody else agrees, but I think Amaker would be a decent choice for Duke after K gets another championship in 2017. It could be a brutal job to take, though. Almost nobody has much chance of living up to the legacy. It might almost be better to aim at being the guy who replaces the guy who took over from K.

The Carolina coaching tree is dead. I really hope you guys try to keep in in house again. It will be the Doh years all over again.

UNC deserves someone with integrity, a real leader, someone that will have complete control of his program, and someone that knows how to bring down a program (even one that is already down:cool:), so congratulations Larry Brown, we want you as the next UNC Head Coach! :)
Go Duke!!
