Tyus Jones's future

Oh really?

Sorry, had to.
Do you really even understand what is going on? Seriously? Love you as a Dukie but you tagging me every single time Tyus poops correctly proves nothing. He still isn't in their plans long term which is what I said. Get over it man! I love Tyus, but he is a CAREER BACKUP POINT GUARD AT BEST IN THE NBA!

Oh come on, you called me out for saying it. I’ve tagged you twice now. You can’t be mad.

I promise not to tag you again, even when Tyus is starting a whole season.

Saw Tyus in Charlotte last week. He is very simply a game managing PG, can't drive past defenders like Teague. He definitely bulked up and got quicker.

Tyus playing very well in Teague’s absence. He is actually doing OK on defense. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come.

They’ve been playing against crappy teams. I want to see how he does against better comp.

Tyus was outstanding in Teague’s absence. He even had a game where he picked up seven steals.

Teague returned the other and played 35 minutes his first game back. Tyus was regulated to 11. That’s what Thibs does.

The big knock on Tyus right now is his jump shot, of all things. I think the Wolves would love to see some consistency there. There have been some DeAndre Jordan rumblings in Wolves circles, and apparently the Clippers have interest in Teague. It would be great for Tyus, but I’m not sure he’s ready for that role right now.

I would love to see the Wolves land Deandre, they really need a rim protector, Towns is not the defensive force (yet) that many projected him to be. As a Cavs fan, I want to see another West team beef up to contend with the Warriors, right now the Rockets seem to be the only team who has a chance.

What shocks me is why the Clippers would want Teague over Tyus? The Clippers appear to be in line for a full-blown rebuild. Teague is almost 30, Tyus isn't even in his prime yet. Give Tyus another 2 seasons and he will be a NBA-caliber starting PG, I'd want him if I'm the Clippers, hope Tyus stays in Minnesota though.

Tyus won’t ever be a scorer in the NBA, but he may be pretty efficient when scoring. If he can run the offense, lead the break and turn into a good on-ball defender, then he can be on the floor with the right team. Give him a couple of real scorers and rim running bigs, and he could be a winner in this NBA. He’s not Chris Paul or John Wall. He’s Tyus Jones.

He’ll never be a starting point guard on a good team if he can’t shoot or score consistently, though.

His eFG% is higher than Teagues, but you’re right, his shooting needs some improvement. He doesn’t exactly have a green light. In those 4 games he got minutes, he shot very well, albeit not very often. He’s still 21, so he still has a window to pull averages up. Besides not being 6’6, what does Lonzo Ball beat Tyus at?

Uglier than sin shooting shooting form.

Well the 6'6 thing is kind of a big deal. Also Tyus doesn't see the floor the way Lonzo does. A jump shot is really the only thing Tyus has on Lonzo.

Tyus is one of those guys that needs the reigns for 20-25 games. At the end, look at his stats. See how he did. I'll bet it will be respectable and team will have done good too. He's a good teammate as well, and that will rub off to the others.
Some people can't be measured by how high they jump or how fast they are. Tyus is one of those guys. He is a results guy.

Teague may have suffered a serious knee injury vs. Denver last night. Stones could be in for a large role the rest of the Timberwolves season. Hoping these stats cited in this article continue.

I’d be shocked if Teague’s injury isn’t serious. My guess is, unless the Wolves make a big play for Goran Dragic, that Tyus is going to have all the minutes he can handle going forward. He’s played well this season, including longer stints when Teague was banged up earlier. Let’s see how the young man handles it.

Looks like the #FreeTyus movement finally worked out. Stinks that Teague got hurt, but now its Tyus's time to shine. Thibs is terrible at managing his player's minutes, his starters play way too many minutes. Saw something the other day, Tyus had a steal, assist, steal, assist, steal, basket and the Wolves went on a 11-0 run in the 4th, Tyus then turned the ball over, and never came back in.

Thibs is starting to face some backlash for it too. The minutes thing is out of hand. Only playing eight every night and starters going 38+ is out of control. One night no bench player played more than 15 minutes.

That doesn’t fly in the assosh where you play 48min a night and 82 games not including preseason and playoffs.

That is ridiculous. Feel bad for Towns and Butler who are facing way too large of a minutes burden for December regular season games. Feel like fringe guys like Shabazz, Cole Aldrich haven't developed at all, where there was once hope for them. Tyus actually seems to have developed best, but still has the issue of his coach thinking every game is Game 7.

From afar, seems like the national media is starting to get on Thibs, whereas he was a media darling 2 years ago. I'd like to see a change made.

The Teague injury could be the tip of the iceberg. If Towns goes down with an injury that could be partially blamed on being overworked I think Wolves fans in this town may just run Thibs out themselves in an attempt to avoid a Derrick Rose situation.

I actually don't think Thibs is to blame for Derrick Rose, the Rose situation is just sad frankly, and terrible luck.
Thibs is 100% to blame for the massive dropoff of Luol Deng, Carlos Boozer, and Joekim Noah's careers though, those guys fell off a cliff 2 years ago (Boozer more like 4 years ago), when they ultimately should have still been productive NBA players. And it's pretty obvious that the grind of year after year playing all those minutes caught up to them. I'm a Jimmy Butler fan, I really hope the same doesn't happen to him when he turns 30.

I wonder what kind of qualifying offer Tyus gets. One step closer to him becoming a top PG in the league. I hope he ends up with a smarter team, like Toronto, Denver, Utah, Houston or Spurs. I will never let this thread die.

Everyone wants their guy to go to a team that he would really fit with, like “idk the uhhh, oh the SPURS!!!!”

He has been among the leaders for A:TO every year, pretty sure he’s led the league a couple times.

I think he’s 2nd right now this season.

A very underrated PG, probably because he’s a throwback PG.
