Random things to talk about.

Pappy's in St. Louis is almost as good as Arthur Bryant's in KC.

Anyone remember a movie called Kelly's Heroes? Great cast. Don Rickles, Clint Eastwood, Donald Sutherland, Telly Savalas, Carroll O'Connor. Funny, funny movie.

If you haven’t seen Hacksaw Ridge, I highly suggest this movie. Based on a true story and probably the best military movie I’ve seen all together. I have watched it 4 times and never get enough. Just unbelievable.

I’m going to check this out for sure - heard of it just never got around to watching it.

Two things.

1. the peanut is neither a pea nor a nut. Discuss.

2. why is K scared of the gauntlet that is road games at Elon and Wofford?

I guess this as good a thread as any to post this. So I am at work and they are catering in papa johns pizza for our shop. I won’t eat it because it has a uk logo on the box. I go to the cafeteria and buy a burger. Everyone is telling me that I am going just a little overboard paying for a burger when there is free pizza. What do you all think? No matter what you say, I’m still not eating it!! Just curious what everyone else would do?
The Macdonalds in my town had Cal’s picture on the cups, so I don’t go there either

DFK you have my support. There's certain brands and places of business that I will not support. OFC

You did the right thing. The next best thing is to buy everyone a burger and offer them the chance to not support a proven cheater.

I won’t get a tailgate box from bojangles here. It has panthers logos all over it.

You would think business owners would stop to think does “everybody” in this town support this cause? Or am I costing myself customers? There are a whole lot of U of L, Duke, and unc fans here where I live. Not everyone worships the greasy god of the bluegrass!!

I know some of you love the NBA, but I just watched 5 minutes of the Raptor - Clippers game and no one scored a point. Counted about 5 travel violations. It was very hard to imagine people paying to watch that mess. Did anyone see Lebron on Sport Center just carry the ball with one hand and take about 4 steps the other night. No call.

Saving Private Ryan is my favorite movie. I could watch WWII movies and Zombie movies all day.

Netflix has a good selection of foreign WWII movies if you don’t mind subtitles. Probably a half dozen on Stalingrad and the fall of Berlin that I’d recommend. The Dutch have a few good ones too.
Beard I watch those foreign war movie all the time. Did you seet the named T-34 about the Russian Tank.

I’m not a big fan of war movies but one war movie that I’ve always liked is a war movie that was my uncle’s favorite war movie and that was Sergeant York. He used to watch it all the time whenever it was on tv and I rink he might have also had it on VHS. My favorite part was when Sergeant York was in the trenches and he started at the end of the line of enemy soldiers and picked them off one by one and when asked how he was able to kill so many enemy soldiers he used turkey hunting to explain why he was able to kills so many enemy soldiers. It’s a biographical film based on Sergeant Alvin York who was one of the most decorated American soldiers during WWI. Some of the OFC guys on the board might have seen it. It was released in 1941.
I remember the look of Alvins mother when she sees him for the first time after the war, her eyes were so full of happiness.

Not yet. It’s in my queue. I’ll watch it either this weekend or next. The wife is going home to visit her family for two weeks so I’ll have a lot of time to watch movies without debate over what to watch.

Same here buddy. I don’t like Papa Johns to begin with, then add the fact he has a big uk logo on the box, it makes me dislike them even more. Lol!

My maternal grandparents used to raise hogs. Each year they butCher them. They sold a lot of the meat but they would cure country hams, make fat back meat food eating and seasoning of things like pinto beans and cabbage. My grandma would use lard to make biscuits. I have never ate a biscuit as good as she made. She didn't leave a recipe so no one in the family can duplicate them. To be honest I don't think she had a recipe, she did made them by memory. What I wanted to point out is they did not have freezers but they made country sausage. They actually canned a good portion of it the way you would can beans, other vegetables and fruits in Mason jars. I never did eat any of the canned sausage but saw my grandma and aunts eat it often.OFC

@dukiejay @dukehokie @timo0402 I think it would be cool if y’all held like a lottery type deal getting a ticket to that game. Like figure out what the cheapest ticket is and how many people are entering and charge X amount of dollars for each person to enter or whatever and draw the winner. You get the picture, Something like that. It be a cheap dream for somebody every year while not hurting anyone in particulars pockets! Lol

Sky, looks like we have more in common than we both realize. Nothing like homemade biscuits with lard. Mom use to have us go pick the hard green apples with the little white dots, which were so good with salt sprinkled on it, and she would cook them until it came out like today's applesauce. We would have that with some homemade biscuits or flat bread lol and you couldn't tell us we weren't eating good. I truly miss them good old days buddy.
