There seems to be the same conversation in every thread on this board lately. Certain posters constantly referencing the “good old days” where kids stayed 4 years. Talk of the coaching staff “selling out” because we get the best players possible every year (something literally every team wishes they could do) We have a team w 4 freshman at 19-4 and the complaining is ridiculous. In 2010 we got beat by 30 at Georgetown with a veteran team. In 2015 we nearly lost to St. John’s in the garden. Teams lose games, and obviously there are things that must improve if Duke is going to win the national championship. But the same thing is true of every Duke team that has won. The one and done culture is what the game is now. It’s not the 80’s or 90’s, and if you can’t accept that then stop watching. Getting the best players is what you’re supposed to do. Give me Duval over Greg Paulus every day of the week.. Times change and maybe will change again if the rules are modified but Duke has won in both eras, and will continue to do so.

No one on here or anywhere else knows what’s best for Duke than K and the staff and acting like you do is ignorant. Repeating the same whiney nonsense of well kids used to care more about development and education..is just not true. It was just the times. And just because a kid doesn’t stay for 4 years does not mean that they aren’t passionate about Duke, it means they are offered a life changing amount of money, and are thinking logically. Laettner and Hill days are gone and have been for a long time. There is nothing wrong w remembering those days for the great era it was, but no learning to adapt and then complaining is just pathetic.

We have the most talented team in the country w the best coach in the country, who has every chance to make a run at another title. We have the best recruiting class arguably ever. Yet after a loss these philosophical complaints come out the woodworks. It’s just tiring to be on the board. There is no selling out by getting the best available players and if you disagree well quite frankly you’re an ignorant person.

Support the kids while they’re in a Duke uniform and when they move on to the nba, because they certainly don’t stop w their love and support of the Duke program, and are a major reason we continue to get future stars both 1 and done's and multi year guys. Coach K will continue to win no matter the climate and though we are spoiled with the continuous success over the last 30+ years, we shouldn't take it for granted.
