Official game day thread- Duke vs AZ sweet 16

We finally made it to game day! These days between games during the tournament drag on.. one last game against Caleb Love. Arizona is 13th in kenpom. We are currently favored by 9.5 the most of any sweet 16 matchup.

Wonder what strategy we'll have. Do we let Caleb get his similar to like what Edwards with Louisville did to us and try and shut everyone else down? Or do we try and shut Caleb down and make someone else try and beat us?

Proctor’s Defense has gotten the better of Love in their matchups. Proctor is 3-1 against Love holding Love to 10.5 pts/game, 28% shooting from the field, and 15% from 3. In the matchup in Tucson back in November, Love was very hesitant to attack the paint.

For those saying "it's hard to beat a good time twice", please note, we played Arizona a CBB lifetime ago. Arizona is playing well, but I really feel like it would take something exceptional for them to be in this game late. If we avoid; an 0-15 start from 3, early foul trouble, or an injury, I think we cruise. Duke's "good" is better than Arizona's "great". We just need to play our game. It would be good to see some bench production tonight. Evans has been quiet lately, maybe tonight will be a breakout for him?

I'm hoping Evans comes on if we need his offense. Maybe he's been pressing too much playing so close to home in the ACC Tourney and the first couple rounds in Raleigh? Hope he plays more relaxed and finds his shot.

I saw video of Brown in practice and walkthrus yesterday! Even if he doesn't play tonight, I think this gives hope that he can be available if needed!!

Not sure if Jon will play him, but if Caleb Love and Bradley get going and get hot in the high screen-n-roll game, than Maliq will be the perfect antidote for that. Just like at UNC. As long as we don't have an outside shooting disaster, I think we cover and win by 10+.

Think Bradley may give Coop some problems but Duke is just too deep and connected right now. This one is close and the next one is not

I don't think Bradley will be on Coop. He's only 6'3 and they can't risk him getting in foul trouble. Although they're not a starters, I think it'll be KJ Lewis who's got some muscle on him or Carter Bryant. Either way, I think we will exploit then with our size with Coop or Kon. With the exception of Love and Bradley, I think their main bench players might play more or equal amount as their starters because of our size.

My sense with Evans is that Jon’s willing to give him some early minutes and a few questionable shots to see what he has. Baylor hunted him in the half court in the few minutes he was in while the game was close. His shot selection also is funny during a Wednesday night ACC game but less so during a Sweet Sixteen game. Kind of who he is

I understand the nerves some here feel, trust me I used to be the same exact way.

The older I get, the more I realize as fans all we can do is hope for the best. Nothing we do has an effect on the game unless we are at the games ourselves screaming our lungs out to support The Blue Devils while giving them a lift.
