Hopefully she has Brad Stevens and the UCLA coach on speed dial.
Might be hard to get Cronin to begin with. Already establishing himself at a blue blood school in west LA.I don't want Mick Cronin. I hate his style of play. Just my opinion though.
True, but we could do a lot better too.We could do a lot worse.
Said what i didn’t want to. Recency theory is a hell of a drug.Did someone really just suggest Mick Cronin to be Duke’s new coach? I’ve now officially lost all hope.
Like who. A coach with a mediocre resume who happened to play for Duke 20 or 30 years ago? That seems to be the candidate type mentioned most often on this board. I don’t see any universally approved hone run hires out thereTrue, but we could do a lot better too.

Although it might only be partially instructive to Duke’s hire, interesting to look back on Alabama’s hc hires post Bear (82) and pre Saban (07). When the alums and fan base were hell bent on hiring “Bama guys” (Shula, Dubose,Perkins) it generally was a disaster that temporarily transferred power in the state to their rival. Stallings played for Bear at A &M and won a nato title but wasn’t there long. They went outside the family and hired mike price who never coached a game (it’s rolling baby) until they eventually got nick. They were in the wilderness by their standards for 25 years due to being hell bent on hiring an Alabama or Bear guy.We have probably 20-30 potential hires who post here from time to time. In all seriousness, Stevens is a good suggestion. But it won't happen. It's going to be a Duke guy. And I'd rather have a Duke guy than Cronin.

We’d all like to see it stay in the Duke family, but no one has made a strong case. It’s a bunch of mediocrity. Hire Brad Stevens if you can; if you can’t do that we’re looking at a hire that will make the Hubert Davis hire look good. The hire after a legend is almost always an epic fail; always a feel good hire that never works out Jimbo after Bowden an exception but fisher was his oc for a few years prior. Scheyer the only guy I’d support big time. Capel maybe. The other guys have no track record and should be dismissed out of handNot to knock Cronin but how many hot for the moment coaches have popped up over the years and not faded away but lost that luster a little. Really in my mind if we went outside the family it would have to be Stevens for me but being who I am I would love to see it stay in the Duke family or at least give one an opportunity. OFC
If he keeps doing what he’s doing he’d be the front runner in a year or two if he would leave which we would probably wouldn’t. UCLA unc duke. The best three jobs in the country IMO. Kentucky’s great with 8 ncs but you’re playing in a football conference with virtually no other school having any bball tradition not good same with ku. Beard got snatched up by ut but if coach k stays for a couple of years beard may be back on the tableI hear you. But he's turned UCLA into a superteam out west in year 2. They are #1 or 2 preseason next year. Just went to the Final Four. Not sure why the idea is so ridiculous. He also did a good job at Cincy.

Quin Snyder? Oh for the love of GodI think we’ll end up staying in the family as well but Stevens, Beard, Drew are 3 names that should be ahead of any Duke alumni. Quin Snyder is the only Duke name I’d put up there w those 3.
