Mods took it down because it was getting political and nasty, and advised us to take it to the Lounge. Well, I'd like to bring it back out of the Lounge. Any thoughts, that aren't offensive in some way?

Offer him some coors and hot dogs . Might just work.I'm pretty sure he wouldn't trade his life for mine.
Diid they actually revoke them? I know Rubio said they would be doing that but this administration is very loose with details.Still have yet to see the visa’s reinstated for them. I also haven’t seen them start deporting them. Have not seen any updates since that Rubio announcement other than them agreeing to accept the deportee from the DNR.
wonder if this is holding up the draft decision - maybe he is better off with his student visa?According to Adam Rowe, Maluach still has visa problems. Duke is working with him to resolve them.
No. Either way, his ability to stay in this country is up in the air. Also, right now he is not leaving the country since he likely won't be able to get back in.Wonder

Maybe or maybe there is concern that getting a work visa isn’t a given or applying for it isn’t advisable. Maybe they feel confident the student visa will be easier to maintain until there is more clarity.No. Either way, his ability to stay in this country is up in the air. Seems like a really good kid who wants to better himself in life. I feel sorry for him being targeted in the deportation mess.We will see, but I can see that Maluach would not want to do a big announcement just to keep his head down. The less the feds are thinking about him and his family perhaps, the better.
Maybe but if I’m spitballing - as soon as he enters the draft he is no longer a student at Duke and the current student visa is probably void. Foreign born NBA players have to obtain work visas (the google says so) and getting that would seem to be the hardest part of this equation as it stands. We will see, but I can see that Maluach would not want to do a big announcement just to keep his head down. Given that you can withdraw from the draft and return to school, that line might not be as bright as you think. Anyway, none of us really knows so we are all in wait and see mode. I think we can all agree that this really stinks and that Maluach did absolutely nothing to warrant a revocation of his visa.Maybe but if I’m spitballing - as soon as he enters the draft he is no longer a student at Duke and the current student visa is probably void. I guess maybe he could stay ‘enrolled’ at Duke through some online classes but I still think he has to get the visa to be ‘hired’ by an NBA team.
Unless someone says differently he has not filed the paperwork and is not on any early entry list. Considering you are 60 hours from the deadline that’s weird.
And definitely not advisableJust read that in order to change his visa to a work one he’d be required to travel home.. not sure that’s accurate
The silver lining is even if he has to remain as a student he will be earning seven figures. Far cry from NBA lottery money, but still very substantial.I’d be happy to have him back as would everyone here but I think it would suck if the only reason was it was his only option to stay here while this stuff is figured out.
